PEBBLES!

pebbles was a very good combo deck, back in the day. there is a lot of history to it, and though it has kinda fallen out of favor of late (i think it got eclipsed by dragon combo) i think it might be revive-able with the coming of the skullclamp. the deck essentially revolves around enduring renewal, goblin bombardment, and any 0-cost creature. at the time, ornithopter and shield sphere were the creatures of choice. now, i believe crimson kobolds, crookshank kobolds, and kobolds of kher keep are probably better, because of greater skullclamp synergy. note that this is not kobold-clamp, because that wins with storm, and this wins with pebbles combo!

academy rector is another very useful card for getting out either one of your combo pieces. because of its great synergy with cabal therapy, i will discuss primarily cocoa pebbles (the build with black) as opposed to the more classic decks.

first off, the decklist. discussion to follow.

NEO-Coacoa Pebbles:

the creatures: 16
4 academy rector
4 crimson kobolds
4 crookshank kobolds
4 kobolds of kher keep

the combo pieces: 6
3 enduring renewal
3 goblin bombardment

extra stuff that's just good: 4
1 demonic tutor
1 enlightened tutor
1 yawgmoth's will
1 yawgmoth's bargain

disruption/protection: 8
3 duress
4 cabal therapy

accel: 13
1 mox ruby
1 mox jet
1 mox sapphire
1 mox emerald
1 mox pearl
1 sol ring
1 mana crypt
1 black lotus
1 lotus petal
4 dark ritual

lands: 14
4 city of brass
4 bloodstained mire
3 plateau
2 brushland
1 badlands

MAINDECK DISCUSSION:

academy rector:
use this guy to get out yawgmoth's bargain or whichever combo piece you happen to be missing. it's not bad with skullclamp, either. if only it had one toughnes...

crimson kobolds/crookshank kobolds/kobolds of kher keep:
these guys are your win condition. you sacrifice them to goblin bombardment with enduring renewal in play, and get them back to your hand, and play them again!

enduring renewal:
one of the combo pieces.

goblin bombardment:
another one.

skullclamp:
great with your theme of sacrificing your creatures all the time!

yawgmoth's will:
win! but don't play it the turn you go off, or you won't.

yawgmoth's bargain:
one of the best cards in the game. get it with rector, draw nineteen cards, play a bunch of mana/kobolds, play combo pieces, win!

duress:
one of the best cards in type one.

cabal therapy:

very useful, especially if you are good at guessing. mostly, though, you use it to get that academy rector into your graveyard.

unmask:
another possibility, but due to the shortage of black cards worth removing, i chose not to include it.

acceleration:
these cards are the best accel that is really useful considering your colors. elvish spirit guide could also make an appearance here, but i chose to exclude it due to lack of room.

lands:
this is a pretty stable mana base. if you feel like it, you can replace the four cities of brass with any other fetchland. i chose them because they can produce any color of mana, and duals can only do two varieties each. you could also replace 2 plateau and 1 brushland with windswept heath for more fetch-ness. it'd be cheaper, too.

ph34r the wasteland. and the back to basics.

SIDEBOARDING OPTIONS:

anti-control:
red elemental blast is a great possibility. blood moon, too, could be helpful, especially if you replace city of brass with other dual lands. in a control matchup, you should clamp that rector and attack! they can't mana drain the yawgmoth's bargain that you fetch!

anti-aggro:
pyroclasm is also a possibility vs aggro, since you don't really care about your creatrues anyway. this deck, being combo, shouldn't have much trouble in an aggro matchup anyway, though. powder keg, engineered explosives, swords to plowshares, balance, and wrath of god (oh wait, no) are all possibilities.

anti-combo:
the problem is, you're playing combo too, and you can't really play trinisphere, pyrostatic pillar, or any other common anti-combo cards, because they stop you, too! your duress and cabal therapy are good in this matchup, though. coffin purge and tormod's crypt could be useful vs other rector decks, or dragon combo.
