[NO BANNER] I would like to feature two cards this time around, both from the Druid Card Creation Contest held on MDV during Druid Week. This contest was started last week and gave people only 4 days to think up and post a card. I would have only featured one card this time around, except there were two participants that tied for first place. Your Worst Nightmare & retarded_a_i tied for first. Here are the cards:
Keeper of the Forest This card was created by Your Worst Nightmare:
How comborific is this guy? ...very! It also give us a great sense of what a druid should be doing: protecting and helping to rebuild the forest in times of need. I always pictured a druid as being a force within the forest that helps it persist, grow and endure. In real magic terms, you could always Armageddon with this guy in play only to get all of your lands back at the end of the turn. Neat card. Let's move along the to the other first place winner from the contest. Cryton, Druid Salvager: This card was created by retarded_a_i:
I personally think Basic Lands should really read Forests on this kind of card... but overall the cards was a nice card. The two abilities are interesting and applicable to what a druid should be (in my opinion). Land Destruction, look out. If I have this guy and only forests in play destroying one of my lands will be tough. The unfortunate thing about this guy is that he costs 5 to play. So LD could still prevent you from casting him. Plus, I bet this card would be killer in a multiplayer environment where someone was casting cards like Wildfire. Not that this druid would withstand the Wildfire itself, but if cast after it... you would gain major card advantage over your opponents. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to join
the contest. There were many people who joined and the cards were all pretty
good. If you want to check out the original thread, please go here: (Clarified 3/12/06 PM) One of the people that joined the forums and entered the contest stated that they were going to leave the site because they felt the judging lacked any sense of reasoning or thought. He would have rather just seen a score next to each card instead of our 'trite' comments. Perhaps in the future I will take a
little more time into describing each score, although I will be honest - I
didn't have a lot of time to judge the cards for this contest and thus were my
"trite" comments. I didn't want to write a book to describe the score I gave
each card and nor did I have the time to do it. I do not like upsetting people although I can't win all the time. Thanks again to everyone who entered the contest. It was
fun. Most Popular
