There were some really impressive entries submitted last week in the Fit the Flavor contest. I thought it would be an interesting idea to give you guys a curve ball flavor text, but you seemed to take it in stride and didn’t have any troubles. So with that thought, maybe I can give you more challenges. Oh… what could the flavor be this time? Fit the Flavor 2008! Round 2!
It all ended well however, and when MDV Idol 2 came around and only 25 or so people entered, I found myself underwhelmed (is that a word?) Anyways, I guess what I am trying to say is that sometimes trying to guess at how many people are going to like your contest is a tough thing to do. Maybe if I offered a great prize to the winner, I could get more people to play. Yikes! If I get too many people, then I would have to stay up late trying to catalog all of these entries for Tynion… Who wants that? Not me. So maybe a prize is out of the question. Maybe something else then. Well we could always just give away points! That’s the ticket! In the case that you were not aware, this contest is a Major contest in the MDV Super Series, which means that you will score a ton of points by winning this sucker. The scoring for this contest will be ISS x 5, which means you will score five times the number of points of the inverse of your placing. Might sound complicated, but it is not. The Inverse Scoring System, or ISS, is a system designed to give points to a contest relevant to the number of people in the contest. If there are ten people playing, the winner gets an ISS of 10 and the last place player gets an ISS of 1. Therefore if the contest were an ISS x 5, then each players ISS score is multiplied by five, go figure! In MDV Idol 3, there were a total of 30 players involved. So when Ryuzaki was declared the winner, he scored 30 points x 5 from the multiplier, and finished with 150 points. When compared to a normal contest of around ten players, where the maximum they can score is ten points, you quickly see why a Major Contest is a huge event in the MSS. As I am composing this article, there are 19 entries already. I think it is a safe guess that there will be another five or so entries this week, so let’s just round it off at 25 people for round one. I think it is also a safe guess that in each round, there will be another two to five people enter, so that means we will probably get close to the 30 people mark again. In this case, you can safely assume that the winner of Fit the Flavor will walk away with around 150 points like Ryu did in Idol 3. But I digress, you came here in search of the week two flavor, not to see a floating head babble about points and contest results. So let me get you started on Week Two of Fit the Flavor 2008:
