MDV Featured Article - Editorial: MDV Newsletter. - by Chris Newton - posted 3/3/08 - discuss here

Another day another dollar.

What does that mean? It means that given another day to think about something, I came up with another great idea, and in this editorial, I will give you the low down on the newest item to rock your Vortex experience:

The MDV Newsletter.

With the release of the MSS, it came to my attention that it would be necessary to somehow keep a running tally and scoreboard for the MSS. Besides the thread that will most likely pop up, I wanted to make this a formal method of communicating these stats to those people who wanted to be involved.

Making a newsletter seemed to be a logical choice. It provided a format in which I could control the content, push the information at the pace in which I wanted it to travel, and to reach the intended audience.

There are many times that people simply do not want to be bothered with reading something that does not involve them. There are also times when you like to feel included in communities and organizations. This newsletter accomplishes both of these situations.

The newsletter will serve many different facets for MDV. First it will do what I mentioned above, highlight the MSS. Second, it will serve as a way to promote upcoming events of MDV. Instead of just hoping you guys stumble across our site when a Theme Week is beginning, we can inform you a month in advance of when we intend for it to launch. Finally, it will carry small articles that keep you in touch with the inner workings of MDV.

As a small residual of the Writer's Guild Strike, we have striven to try harder at bringing the Writers closer to the Readers. I think that by bringing articles to you about the behind the scenes, making of, recruiting of, etc. items, we can make you feel closer to the team, and perhaps inspire you to join us as a part of the staff.

The newsletter is a method of doing what we really want. We want you to come and be with us. If you can't come be with us, then let us come to you.

If you are interested in the MDV Newsletter and would like to be added to the mailing list, please sign-up in the thread provided below, and leave your name and your email address.

Please know that I MDV will never sell your email address or spam you with ads or anything else that I personally hate. If you do not feel comfortable with leaving your email address in the public forums, by all means send me an email with a note saying that you want to be added to the list. My email address is inocote@yahoo.com.
