MDV Featured Article - State of the Site: Five Year Shake-Up. - by Chris Newton - posted 9/24/07 - discuss here

You may have noticed over the past few months that there has been a growing inactivity on the MDV Main Page. You are not alone. We, the Writer’s Guild, have also noticed it and we are making moves to rectify this problem.

As of October, I will be stepping into the background. I hope those of you who have been following my articles over the years will not be too disappointed, but I encourage you to continue reading, as you will feel my influence in more than just my articles. I am stepping into the role of Lead Writer of the Writer’s Guild, which means that I will be directing and managing the process of getting an article out of a writer’s head, into the machine, and finally in front of you to read.

The main problem that we have as a writing staff have here at MDV is that we have lives behind the scenes. You may think that we are just a group of guys who sit and type away all day long, and while that may be true to some extent, we do have family, school, work, and sometimes – believe it or not, a woman that requires our time. My plan to rectify this problem is to rotate our staff periodically to give the writers breaks and keep the faces and voices of MDV fresh.

If you think that you would like to be one of those fresh voices, and can make a commitment to the MDV Writer’s Guild for around six to seven weeks, then by all means send me a sample of your writing, and tell me when you are available.

I am excited about the upcoming weeks. The Writer's Guild is gearing up to increase its activity by a good amount. Not only will we be aiming to publish three to four articles a week, but we are also introducing the MDV Blog Section of the website.

Once active, we will have a staff of Bloggers who will keep a log of their lives, both Magic and otherwise, to keep the reading entertainment level for you both high and enjoyable.

If you are interested in joining the MDV Blog Staff, send me an email, and a sample of what you would consider to be a good blog. If it meets our criteria, you will be considered for a position.

Finally, I am proud to announce that we are bringing, back with a vengeance, a main staple of the MDV Experience, the Forum Contests. We have a few guys in the back who are really pumped up about bringing a few contests your way, and if I might be so bold to say that they are working on a new edition of one of MDV’s favorite contests, MDV Idol. I won’t be running the contests this time around, but rest assured, the guy who is revving the engine is just as much a wise ass as I am, and maybe more so; He is smarter than me (at least, that’s what he tells me).

With more articles, contests, the return of Theme Weeks, and the addition of the MDV Blogs, we hope that you should have no trouble finding something to do and keep yourself entertained here at MDV: Home of the Casual Player.
