MDV Featured Article - MDV IDOL FINALE! ...and more! - by Tynion & Staff - posted 10/6/06 - discuss here

I know you have been waiting for it, and here it is! The official announcement of the MDV Idol 2: In the Crossfire! winner!

Reader voting ended on Friday, which yielded us a NEW MDV Idol Champion. So who won? I thought you’d want to know..

First, to refresh your memory, the MDV Idol Judges finally got together and gave the card designs a run down this week, and according to their views, Spellguard was the chosen one. He bested the others and was decidedly the best card.. or so the Judges thought.

Your votes proved that they were wrong. Not only did Spellguard not win, but of the 23 votes cast, he only received 3. So did he win? Sadly, he did not. He didn’t even get second place. He ended up with a strong third place finish. Congratulations Alpherion on your finish.

The Judges were sort of right by saying that Mrraow would finish strong, as they said he would finish second. However, the readers spoke again, and Treacherous Golem proved to be the actual best design, and here is your winner.. Mrraow.

Any Vorthoses out there? *crowd reacts wildly*

He's treacherous by name and treacherous by nature; let's take a look: he's a natural at espionage, taking a peek at your opponent's hand when he comes into play, he can win you the game, with his built-in Donate ability, but he can lose you the game just as easily, especially when the instants start flying fast and loose?

Whose side is he on really? Well the flavour text sums it up nicely: ‘All a man can betray is his conscience.’ This golem, on the other hand, has no conscience at all.

Johnny, don't you feel the urge to build a little deck around this beastie? *Lots of hoots and hollering from the crowd*

Any Spikes out there? *Whistling sounds from the back of the crowd* Then this could be the finisher your Izzetron deck has been waiting for; get it on the table, target it with some burn, then ‘Donate’ it to your opponent for the win, all in the blink of an eye.

Timmy? Sorry, I don't think this card is for you.” *Boos sound a little weak*

Thank you Mrraow for those words, and for accepting your award so graciously.  Here's the card in all of its MDV IDOL 2: In the Crossfire beauty:

WAIT! Don’t tune me out yet! I not only am here to announce the winner of the contest, but also to announce MDV Idol 3!

*Fireworks boom and light up the backdrop, music fills the air*

That’s right fans! And just like in the second contest, we are pushing the limit, and keeping the contest new and fresh. Curious as to how we will do that? Then you have two options at your disposal to finding out.

First, you can wait around and see how it all unfolds..

OR

Second, you can join in and be apart of the fun!

So you must be thinking to yourself, *Tries to mimic Streetz melodramatic pose* how oh how can I join in the fun? It’s quite simple actually.

Take a moment and think to yourself.. ‘What is it about this website that keeps me coming back for more?’ That is exactly how you do it. Then, put those thoughts into words.

In the next few weeks, you need to write your words down and send them into the MDV Idol Admin in the form of an essay of 1,000 words or more. In this essay cover the following points:

  • What brought you to MagicDeckVortex.com in the first place?
  • What do you love the most about this website?
  • If you could change one thing about MDV, what would it be?

That’s it! What? Are you qualified to participate in the contest? Answer the following questions, and you will find out!

  • Your name is not Tynion or Casual Violence.
  • Do you have plenty of time to participate in weekly and bi-weekly contests over a six week period?
  • Do you think you have what it takes to outlast other competitive contestants in grueling contests?
  • Have you enjoyed the previous MDV Idol contests?

If you answered YES to all of these questions, then you can enter!

Well, what are you waiting for? Get working on those essays and get to sending them in! Remember, not everyone who sends in an essay will be selected, only the best of the best will play. As for the rest of you, it will be entertaining to watch the game unfold, so keep tuned in for MDV Idol 3!

Send your essay here!

Good luck, and we hope to see you as we pick the
