Let me first state that a good 90% of anime is crap, and anything that's decent will soon get mobbed with idiot fanboys.

Hellsing is amusing more on a visual and conceptual level than an actual plot level.
Naruto has good fight scenes and decent bad guys, and that's about the only good thing I have on it.
Gungrave has decent badass factor, though the storyline is at times plodding and simple.
Steamboy, Princess Mononoke, and Akira are generally good movies. Ninja Scroll is amusing, more to laught at than with though.
Berserk is amusing for the bodycount.

Other than that, anime is pretty much a waste of time. You get sucked into the pathetic lives and transparent dreams of emotionally flat uninspired cliches, and think you're cool because it's Japanese and you wish you could be the lead character.

Okay, a few anime films that I have and LOVE:

Akira (Classic, and if ANYONE dissis it, I will KILL YOU!)
Vampire Hunter D (both flims)
Spriggan (okay, not a brilliant film, but I like it)
Ghost in a Shell (The first film, but I do want to see the series)

I've seen the ghost in the shell series, and its decent. Cowboy bebop is most likely the best japanese animation out there. IMO that is. The plot weaves, the music is amazing, and the animation is great. Probably in the top 5 worldwide and #1 for me.

Anybody here watch Trigun? Good laughs, good animation, decent plot.

The one anime show I CANNOT stand is Paranoia agent. Decent visuals, but the music was below par, and the plot? What plot!?! the show goes on about a teddy bear and a dog for like a gajillion episodes, then some people want to commit suicide, and after that a guy dresses up in a costume and smacks a blob with a baseball bat. Yea. Thats about it. Grrrrr.

EXACTLY MY POINT!! Just because two or three animes suck, you must not generalise. How can anyone even compare Trigun, Bleach or Witch Hunter Robin with the low-class anime (eg: Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh and too many others).

They still arent making new anime! Its always the same plotlines. Very rarely are good and fresh anime born from the same pod. Yusuke's anime cartoon wasnt so bad. Trigun is pretty good, but there are still few that stand out as being good. Every magic set has something different. Its also so unrealistic. But nothing is wrong with fiction. How can you stand those facial expressions??? They are so inhuman. This is more human in nature. :x

This is like saying why people can't create different paintings because all you do is use a brush and paint.

Majority of it is like a repetition... it's like all the entertainment that we are bombarded everyday's like. How many times can you bake an apple pie to make it unique on it's own?

Anime does get repetitve, there are a lot of repetitive one... but are most of them praised? No. It's the original ones that gets praised. If you want originality, stay away from shonen comics since they have a very specific plot they like to do thing. There are a lot of crap, but does that mean anime itself sucks? I don't believe so. There are a lot of crap computers, but does computer suck? You just gotta look a bit harder to find what fits you. If the idea of anime doesn't fit you, fine we all have that. But if it's about specific or generalized cases.. I say you have to do some more research.

Where to start.......well....Paranoia Agent is just one of those series I only watched because it was on Adult Swim and edited....I just don't see a reason to throw nudity in things, anime and the japanese culture I can think of slight reasons why....but to me, useless. Paranoia Agent makes sense at the right time, the end. It's not something you can easily understand. Maybe I just like weird animes, like FLCL, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (Watched it on Anime Unleashed and again edited.) There are not that many weird animes out there, but most of them I find, I like.
Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, I just like it so much when kids at school insult these shows and have what? Not watched them at all? The reason I laugh, is because in my mind Yu-gi-oh is quite funny, and I watch it when it comes on at 4 pm here, I pay not full attention but enough so if they say a joke (that isn't for kids, but isn't for adults) is told. Today they had at least 2-5 jokes in there that made me laugh quite hard. I just forgot to say why I laugh at them at school. Not just because they're sometimes funny, (only yu-gi-oh is sometimes funny). Because the Japanese Uncut 100% versions have so much screwed up Mature, rated pg-13, R material it's just not funny anymore. They have in yugioh that teacher "Dr. Crowler" he's well he wears purple lipstick....nuff said (looks creepy) Pokemon I don't remember, but I know I found out there's cussing, blood, guns, violence.... :twisted: I bet those kids couldn't stand to watch some stuff I've heard about those shows... ehh so weird.... >_<;;

Shobu - Duel Masters which is in my mind, the funniest show with a rating of 7 and up. If anyone has seen that anime they should know why. :)

GHost in the Shell is a great anime for Mecha and Tech lovers , but to me the 2nd GIG is the greatest Serie of all the Ghost in the Shell Franchise.

I wouldn't say Stand Alone complex is the greatest of mecha anime around. In fact, it's more politics than anything.

I personally prefered the original to Second GiG, although the latter had it's moments.

As I've undoubtably extolled over and over again, if you want mecha anime, pick up some Fafner in the Azure DVDs. That's the best mecha anime around.
