DC= more realistic. Unfortunately, i like some of the Marvel characters better, but they tend to have really unrealistic powers...

Superman or Wonderwoman, but i don't like her outfit.

Hmm, I don't know enough to say which is my favorite between the two. However, of the superheroes I know Spiderman > Batman > the rest. Btw, the only DC's I remember are Superman, Batman, The Flash and The Green Lantern. What are some others?

Oh, and worst episode of Superman ever (TV show): Superman races the Flash and who wins? Superman. It makes the Flash's superpower seem kinda lame.

EDIT: [QUOTE=Female_kaldra_is_hot;107686]DC= more realistic.QUOTE] Superman is realistic? What's more unrealistic than the fact that no one recognizes his costume change from Clark Kent? :) EDIT 2: That quote format failed, so just try to read through it, lol.

i don't think that complies with what DL wanted...

Wonderwoman's DC too. And it's not just about the heros, it's also about the stories, the art style, etc.

Mogg, i meant compared to marvel. Superman, yeah i know the stupid outfit thing, i hate that too. I guess i meant the feel of the comics...DC feels more real to me than Marvel. I don't know why...

I'll once again demonstrate my ignorance. Links or description for Colossus and Deadpool?

Also, I've thought it over a bit and I'm going with Marvel. I have a couple reasons. The first is that I just really dislike Superman. "Yay, I can do anything!" It just really lacks of originality in my opinion. Especially, I dislike how they chose to solve the issue of him being invincible: kryptonite. It really limits the creativity the show can have if all the fights where Superman could hypothetically lose have to involve kryptonite. Also, he comes from Krypton but he's weak around kryptonite? Can someone explain that to me?

Marvel on the otherhand has some superheroes that I really like, Spiderman and Wolverine for example. Spiderman is so intriguing because it seems to me like one of the big "what ifs?" in the superhero storyline. "What if?" at the same time of getting his superpowers the hero was also dealing with other changes in his life? Does he make up for the mistake that led to his uncle's death or does he try to pursue a normal life? He has to deal with guilt that he really made a mistake, and now he has to make up for it. Too many of the superheroes seem like they're just way above eveyone else, like whatever they do is always going to be right.

Wolverine . . . he's just so kickass. I also like the story behind him.

Btw, is it coincidence that the superheroes I like best are featured in movies released in the last couple years? I'm just wondering how much influence recent movies have had on people's perceptions of the superheroes.

i totally agree with the Superman thing. Spider-man and Wolverine are also big favs. I think i'm going to change my answer to Magneto. I love his power, but i prefer the skinny one like in the movie. Why does he need to be buff?

I really do think that Marvel's current Civil War series (Capt. America vs. Iron Man in hero/mutant registration) is really great writing, especially with Parker unmasking in a recent issue. The inking and storyboard for Marvel is a lot better than it has ever been, and I believe they currently outshadow DC in terms of realism etc.

It's hard for me to get into characters that are all powerful or super rich. I prefer the superheroes that have to get out of bed each morning and ask, "How will I pay the rent this month?"

The one thing I was displeased with in the Marvel Universe is the depowering of a lot of the mutants. Although it's great storyline (ultimately showing the extreme powers of the Scarlet Witch's hex-power), I don't like that some of my more favorite mutants got the switch thrown on them. It just doesn't seem right.

You have a lot of good and bad. Each writer, each artist brings something new and different to the table. You might like some, and not like others. Personal preference, ultimately, varies in both of the Universes.

@Mogg:

I don't think my perceptions of the characters change based on the movies. I think that the movies play an integral role in revealing this complex fictional world to the main stream, if only to prove that comic books are not just for pasty white nerds. Almost everyone can relate in some way to the troubles that Peter Parker (Spiderman for the uninitiated) has in his every day life.

My favorite character still has to be Nightcrawler. From his very inception, he has been a figure troubled by his appearance, his parental figures, and his power. To be quite honest, he was a very convincing character as a Catholic priest, especially when he is so troubled by the people and events happening on around him. His search for understanding and faith really fleshes him out as a person to me. Plus, he's just plain kickass. Saber wielding, teleportation. Who doesn't like that? (Although, I'm not exactly sure I'm such a fan of him as the son of Satan [Some of the new writing on Nightcrawler is just plain bad])

i totally agree .. it all depends on preference
i think that MARVEL is much better drawn and i can relate more to the story lines and would much rather live in Marvel universe than DC....i would love that....to have powers, wouldnt you?

It depends on what you mean by powers.

A lot of the mutants in the X-Men series had abilities that kept them away from other people, kept them from relationships, friendships. One character specifically in the Academy series (haven't kept up with this, he may be dead/left the group) would turn any organic material to dust when he touched it. What kind of power is that?

Sure, it would be great if we could choose our own powers. But if we had to pull a random one out of a bag, I don't know that I'd be so keen on taking it.

yeah, but if we could choose it, it would be the greatest thing ever, life would be so much more fun, living life as normal, with the choice to use your power to have fun or to just to make things more effecient

however, powers are not probable in our universe, so all we do is dream

Yes, but unfortuantely the laws of physics be a harsh mistress....*sigh*

But yeah, i agree, it varies. Sometimes Marvel has excellent, well, everything! And sometimes DC does too. And then there's always the events that none of us like, but happen to deepen the storyline or fix stuff (ie: Venom being thin in S-M 3, belies his strength, so it deepens the char. Plus, Eddie Brock is not strong, and the suit gives him that. Another thing that makes him love the symbiote.)
