Luckily for me, I have people around to make sure things get done right! ;)
Welcome to round #6. This is a regular round (not more lotus). Everything's back to the way it was before.
Good luck everyone, and get those decks sent in!
Decks are due to me by 2/2/07!
These are the rules for Vanishing 3 Card Blind:
Your deck is composed of 3 cards which all start in your hand.
Your library contains 0 cards and you don’t have a sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favor.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You play each opponent twice; once going first and once going second.
For each win, you score 3 points.
For each draw, you score 1 point.
For each loss, you score 0 points.
Two rules restrict the kind of deck you can send. They are:
1.You may not submit a deck that can win before the opponent's first main phase.
2.You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn.
Other than the aforementioned, everything is handled exactly like a real game of Magic.
If you want to play, PM me a message with a heading similar to "Vanishing 3-Card Blind tournament". The format for the message should be:
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3
The "Vanishing" part is the twist. After each round, the cards in the winning deck and any cards in at least 1/3 of the decks for that round will be banned for all future rounds.
One exception to this rule: Moxes, Basic Lands, Depletion Lands, and all Storage Lands will never be banned.

HOLY COW! We're finally back online.
I'm extending the deadlines for deck submission to the end of the week. - That's by February 10th, at Midnight, EST. Hopefully we can get some more people to play, what with all the server deaths.
As always, you stay classy :)

First a note on my deck from DBB
1x Cabal Therapy
1x Carnophage
1x Swamp
Here's what I'll do: You can run the Therapy, but any time you could normally pay the flashback cost the same time you could play the original spell, you won't be able to. That way you can still run it, but it's not ever degenerate.
I go first in game 1 and game 2 i go second. scour on right.
SenorClown
1.I hit his win condition. and my creatrue wins it for me. 2.He wins. 3
Mogg
1.Hit his wincondition and win. 2. He wins. 3
Cashew

Whoah!!!
Here's what I'll do: You can run the [Cabal] Therapy, but any time you could normally pay the flashback cost the same time you could play the original spell, you won't be able to. That way you can still run it, but it's not ever degenerate.
This is WAY unfair. There is no way I'd have run a Lotus Bloom deck if I'd known Cabal Therapy is legal.
Flashback cost be damned... Cabal Therapy is a card which breaks Rule 2 even without the flashback cost.
2.You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn.
If your opponent runs 2 identical non-land cards, Cabal Therapy can force you to discard both of them.
Oh, sure, you don't HAVE to name the duplicated card; but Cabal Therapy CAN force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn. It's therefore banned.
Would it be fair to submit a deck that can win on turn 1, or can generate infinite mana on turn 1, simply because the submitter claims that 'you don't HAVE to win, you can simply hold back for a turn'? No.
If you're going to change the rules of the round, at least have the decency to do it BEFORE decks are submittde, rather than springing it on us at the end of the round.

Halinn -
The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, Treetop Village, Eladamri's Vineyard
SenorClown
2-2 He can't pay the tabernacle cost. If he uses Evil Presence on it, he loses to treetop village beats. I can't get Vineyard down, as he uses Evil Presence on village
Mogg
0-6 Meddling Mage on Vineyard = QQ
Cashew
0-6 Bridge beats me
Shteev
0-6 Form comes out before he dies
zu_Faul
0-6 Meddling Mage on Vineyard = QQ
Death_By_Beebles
6-0 He can only keep one token, even if he uses orchard for upkeep cost. Vineyard mana will kill him.
Niv-Mizzet_Rulez!
0-6 Cabal Therapy on Vineyard = QQ
Total: a dissapointing 8 points
Also, I feel that Niv-Mizzet_Rulez!'s deck should be banned. Using errata so he can play is not fair. The rules is pretty clear:
2.You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn.

Hey i was the guy who asked DBB and that what he said. And their was not a singel deck the ran more then one copy of a a single card this round anyways. So that didn't really matter.

Hey i was the guy who asked DBB and that what he said.
Well you should have asked in in public, and he should have replied in public.
And their was not a singel deck the ran more then one copy of a a single card this round anyways. So that didn't really matter.
It's perfectly possible that in a round of 3CB, or even more likely, 4CB or 5CB, that duplicates of a card will be played. Black Lotus, for example. How do you suggest we interpret the rules? We only ban your deck if a player DOES play with duplicate cards? Ludicrous. We should interpret the rules literally. Because that's what rules are for.
Even leaving that point aside, your deck is still capable of making your opponent discard 2 cards by paying the flashback cost. If 'you promise not to do it', it again makes a mockery of the rules.

To be utterly honest, I said no the first 2 times. After the third time he asked, I gave in.
I let him run the card because of my modification of how Cabal Therapy can work. If there was a chance he could ever make 2 discards happen in the same turn, he would not be allowed to do it.
If you think its degenerate... I'm sorry that I made that decision, but once made, it can not be unmade.
So, my only recourse at this point is to ban Niv-Mizzet_Rulez!'s deck, and give him 2x points for his next score, and apologize to everyone involved in 3CB.
So, NMR, your deck is banned. You'll receive 2x points for your next round.
Sorry everyone. I didn't, and still don't have time to argue the legality of Cabal Therapy.

Undiscovered Paradise, Stormscape Apprentice, Evil Presence
vs. Mogg: 1-4
P: I drop Stormscape, he drops Mage, I tap it.
D: He drops Mage naming Apprentice.
vs. Cashew: 6-0
Either way, I put Evil Presence on his Village and go for beats.
vs. Halinn: 2-2
There's no way I can keep Apprentice alive, so I Presence his Village once he plays it.
vs. Shteev: 0-6
I can't beat FotD. :(
vs. zu_faul: 1-4
See Mogg.
vs. Death_By_Beebles: 6-0
The turn he plays Orchard, I Presence it.
16 points. ech. About 44%.
Death_By_Beebles

vs. Death_By_Beebles: 6-0
The turn he plays Orchard, I Presence it.
But I play Eladmari's Vineyard that same turn, giving me the GG I need each turn to make a token. You can't presence the land until your turn.
And... I'm stupid.
Never mind.

Hey i got Nothing! I finaly make a good deck and you pepole complain so much that it gets banned.

That might be because the deck didn't follow the rules. Just a hunch.

I got 0 points. :'(
You get 2 pts against Senor Clown, don't you? If you play nothing, you'll draw unless he plays the Stormscape Apprentice. If he does, you can play the Vineyard and give him a 1/1, so you can have 2 3/3s. Your creatures are bigger and he burns faster than you, so you win.
And you get style points for a cool deck :)
Hey i got Nothing! I finaly make a good deck and you people complain so much that it gets banned.
What right do you have to complain? DBB told you two times that Cabal Therapy was banned. What did you do? You whined until you got your way. Congrats for almost getting your way?
There is this thing called "metagaming", as in predicting what your opponents will play. Many people try to do this. Is it fair then that you can play a deck that no one has any reason to believe you will be able to play? No. Furthermore, it is an incredibly powerful effect, as you might have noticed after the round where Blackmail decks just dominated. Is it fair that you get to use this card and no one else does? Again, no.
Rules exist for a reason; they make the game fair. I'm not really sure why you tried so hard to convince DBB that you should be allowed to break the rules. He showed sympathy, I guess, or was just tired of answering your pms.
Also, note that I really don't care who wins. I enjoy XCB because it is a game that allows people to play a variety of decks and ideas that just wouldn't work in regular magic. I just get really annoyed when someone breaks the rules (maybe even unintentionally), gets warned about it, then tries it again. As people who have sent decks to me may know, I'm fine with letting you revise your decks as many times as you need to. People make oversites. However, when a mod actually rejects your deck 2 times, and you send in the same thing. That's just stupid.
And then you complain about the reaction?
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) Smilies to lighten the mood a bit. I'd just like to see people follow the rules in the future so we can avoid arguments like this. That's all.
