4CB#3 Foiled Again!!

Welcome to Round 3 of 4CB!

Check out the updated banned list, as you'll see that Foil now resides in it. There are quite a few more cards I've got my eyes on, but we'll see how this works out in the future.

Hopefully we'll hit a stable metagame in the near future. Until then, happy hunting!

Rules:


Basic Rules

- Your deck is composed of 4 cards, all of which start in your hand.
- Your deck has no sideboard.
- You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
- You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
- Your random effects always go in your opponent's favor.
- All other rules of Magic remain unchanged, unless otherwise stated.

Tournament Rules

- All matches are played out by the moderator (participants only submit the decks).
- Tournaments are run in round-robin fashion.
- Each matchup consists of 2 games, with each deck going first once.
- Participants earn 3 points if their deck wins a game, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss; thus, over the course of a match, you can earn 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, or 0 points.

Deck-Building Rules

- You may not submit a deck that can win before the end of your opponent's first turn.
- You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to loose more than 1 card in their hand in one turn.
- You may not submit a deck that can generate infinite (or an arbitrarily large amount of) mana on the first turn.
- Your deck may not include Unglued or Unhinged cards, ante cards, Garfield event cards (such as Splendid Genesis or Proposal), or 1996 World Champion.
- You may not include a card that appears on the 4CB Banned List.

This is what I get:

1v7 = 2-2. Senor Clown casts Shoal with the Stormscape Apprentive to counter DBBs only threat.

2v5 = 2-2. Mogg cannot kill my Mishra's Factory except with a Powder Keg. If I never turn it into a creature except to block, Mogg cannot kill it without killing his own Factory

3v4 = 0-6. Twincast only copies a spell on the stack, and spells on the stack don't have storm. Cashew therefore only gets 7 goblins. Halinn can take them out with a Treasure Hunter and a Preacher.

4v8 = 1-4. Preacher would die to Charm, so, on the play, Halinn casts Glowrider and Hunter. DBB can now only cast his Thallid. Halinn attacks over 3 turns for 4 damage, but then the Thallid has 3 counters on it. If the Glowrider attacks now it dies and allows DBB to Vendetta the Hunter to win. Halinn can attack 3 more times with the Hunter for 2 damage, after which the Thallid has 6 counters on it. DBB can now block and kill everything. If Halinn sits back he will lose to the Thallid so he attacks with everything; mutual annihilation. On the draw, Halinn is a turn too slow to achieve this.

5v6 = 3-3. Slobad can make 6 4/4 creatures on turn 1. When shteev plays first, he can cast Echoing Truth and kill all of them. If shteev draws, he only has the mana to cast Chain of Vapor, and loses.



Interesting round. Plenty of Lotus hate, and not much Lotus!

Mogg, I don't understand why you rate 2v4 as a 4-1 score. All Halinn's creature cost 3, so they all die to a single Powder Keg. Glowrider doesn't stop any of Mogg's 2 mana artifacts, since Mogg can get 3 mana out of the City and the Factory to play around it.

wait i'm confused. How does Disrupting Shoal work with Evermind?

Evermind is blue and it has a converted mana cost of zero. Disrupting Shoal, removing Evermind from the game allows SenorClown and Death_By_Beebles to counter a card with a converted mana cost of zero; such as Black Lotus.
