Rule of the Bazaar
You can find the official forum rules here (http://magicdeckvortex.com/vbforums/showthread.php?t=22330).
1. Once you and the trading party exchange address's a trade is confirmed and the deal is final. Consider it your signature on a contract because we will if it becomes an issue that we have to moderate on.
2. Only one active Trading thread and one active buying/selling thread at a time. You should send a message to one of the moderators of the Trade Forum if you have a new thread and want the old locked.
3. No advertising of other sites or sells/trades on them.
4. Your trade post has to have both a Haves and Wants list. Without one of both your thread will be locked unless you fix it.
5. Itrader is back thanks to Streetz, please use it.
6. I am willing to be a third party trader in the instance were a pair of traders want reassurance that both parties live up to there end.
7. Always use Delivery Confirmation. I can not stress this enough, it will only run you around 75 cents extra at the PO and with it you will have proof of what you sent and to who you sent it. Without this you are held fully liable if the receiving party never receives.
8. Condition matters! If you send non-NM/M cards and the receiving party does not know about it then you are responsible for that and will have to work out compensation .
9. All normal forum rules apply here, including Spam rules.
10. Only post in your own thread ONCE every 24 Hours. Failure to do so will be considered spam.
Rules for "for sell and buying threads"
1. You must post prices for every card or as a collection.
2. As an extension of the above rule there will be no bidding. You can not make an offer for someone cards higher than what they were asking in order to cut another member out. In short this is not an auction/auction forums, if you want that go to eBay.
3. Do not sell illegal items on the forum. Depending on severity breaking this could get you suspended or banned.
General Suggestions to better your time hear.
1. Please Card tag your lists as it makes it easier for everyone to know what they are getting and receiving.
2. Be mindful of your thread titles. Thread titles may not exceed more than one line as seen at 800x600 resolution. If they are found to exceed one line, we will edit them to "[Your name]'s Trading Post". The page number links that appear once your thread goes past one page do not count toward this limit. Also, threads with stupid things like "!!!!!!!!!!!" at the end of them will be edited. Additionally, don't say things like "have p9" in your title without actually having them for trade.
3. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. You should probably be concerned when someone offers you, say, a Cranial Extraction for your random junk rare. If they insist on the deal that seems this good, I would advise that you ask them to send first, as it is the only way to ensure they are not a ripper. If they refuse to send first, you should probably break off the deal.
4. CHECK REFERENCES. I cannot stress this rule any more. If they ask you to send first and they have little or no references, you probably shouldn't send first. If they do list a few references, actually ask the people what the trade involved and what the trader is like. If the person's references can only be reached through free email accounts (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.), chances are they are fake references, and should not be counted. Most people who are ripped, are ripped because they don't take the time to check refs!
5. Check the rippers lists to see if the person you are trading with is there. If they are, either cancel the deal or insist that they send first. Some people around the Magic internet community have said in their posts that they are listed in the bad traders lists and are willing to send first, which is fine, there is probably just a misunderstanding with the deal that they're being accused of ripping in. Definitely do not send first (you probably shouldn't simu-send either) to someone listed as a ripper or bad trader.
6. Save your evidence! Magic Deck Vortex’s PM's are easily forged, therefore should probably not be used for evidence. I always ask the person I'm trading with to email me the trade details, so I can provide the emails with official headings to prove that they did send that email. Create a new folder in your email account for trade emails, and keep them there. Trust us on this one. If you're trying to convict a ripper, this is the best thing you can do.
7. NEVER write your envelopes/packages with a pencil. It’s been seen a few times and it is a very bad idea. Always use pen or thin marker.
8. Secure the cards that you are sending! Frequently, just using soft sleeves is not enough. Try to use something hard to prevent the cards from being bent in the mail process, like a Top loader. Top loaders are relatively cheap and will save you a lot of hassle from angry traders.
9. Send your cards promptly! Sending your cards on time not only guarantees a happy deal, but also ensures that you will get a good rating with the other trader, which is always great.
10. Always read someone's whole trade thread before you make an offer. You don't look too smart if you offer someone a trade for cards that they don't have anymore.
11. Don't put something on your have list unless you're actually willing to trade it. Your have list should be a list of cards you're willing to trade, not a showcase for your hot rares. People get mad if they ask about a card and you're not willing to trade it.
12. Never EVER declare your envelope has any commercial value when asked by the post office before sending. If you are sending across a border (for example from US to Canada) they will ask you what "type" of item you are sending. Say "gift" - not "merchandise". When asked if it has commercial value, say "no" or "under five dollars". Some people think it'd be cool to say "fifty bucks!" because then the person receiving the cards thinks they got a really good deal. But in reality, they will be charged about $15 upon delivery, for taxes! DO NOT DO THIS to your trading partners! You are not a store. They are not buying your cards. So don't declare any commercial value! They will probably deny receipt of the envelope, and it will either be sent back to you or destroyed!
Following these simple rules and guidelines should make your trading/selling experience much better.
