G/W Ravnica Type II

[Echoing Decay]

I've been adding Ravnica to Apprentice via Magic Set Editor. Based on what's been released I've started constructing a deck that I plan on playing in Type II if I ever go to a tourney. Anyway, any constructive ideas would be greatly appreciated. Here's the decklist:

8 Plains
12 Forest

4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Shinen of Life's Roar
4 Hunted Troll
3 Phytohydra
2 Tolsimir Wolfblood

3 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Congregation at Dawn
4 Kodama's Reach
3 Lure
4 Gaze of the Gorgon
2 Pariah's Shield

This deck uses some (in my opinion) really interesting combos.

Shinen of Life's Roar + Gaze of the Gorgon - Cast the Gaze on your Shinen and all your oppnent's creatures that block will go splat.

Phytohydra + Lure - Enchant Phytohydra with Lure and let it attack every turn. It'll get bigger and won't die. After a couple attack phases the creatures will start dying en masse.

Phytohydra + Pariah's Shield - I'll just take the damage and let Phytohydra get bigger... Everyone knows this awesome combo.

what about adding in seedborn muse? all your stuff untaps each players upkeep.

They have this new Enchantment coming out called Doubling Season. I saw it on MTG Salvation. It doubles any tokens or counters from effects you control. I'd suggest looking into that.

what help would seedborn muse be? other than the untapping so you could blck....now if opposition came back... uhhhhhhh that would be cool

verdant force is definately valid for this deck, seeing as how saps are made in ravnica. Have you considered running much enchantment control for white? It may not fit too well with the theme... but as I voted, I will post more here when we learn more about ravnica.

I love Scatter the Seeds. Saproling armies can get amazingly large with them. I have a sealed deck from several boosters of 9th, Rav and FD, and in a GW deck I made, I have 2 Scatter the Seeds, 1 Recollect and 2 Reclaim, which made for some really good Saproling action! Along with 2 Selesnya Evangels!

I like how they printed Pariah in equipment form in the same set as a card with a replacement effect for damage. :D

So any more ideas for the Saproling deck? I'm gonna take this to next years regionals if it works out to be good. It sure looks good, just a bit slow.

Only one problem with the Photohydra. Its too expensive. You should be winning by turn 5, not bringing out your combo- one thta needs your opponent to have creaures, which isnt a sure thing-. Its a good idea, but just too slow, in my opinion.

I don't think it'll be too slow. You've got to keep in mind green's got some great mana acceleration at its fingers in Type II on October 20th. Plus, who knows how fast wins are going to be with the factor of Ravnica?

Why is it so hard to believe that if you play Tolsimir,Wolf blood u have to play Mirror Gallery :shock:

Because that is not believable? Tolsimir, wolf blood is already a beef that's hardly used in aggro deck because of his casting cost. Mirror gallery is a crappy card overall just because it doesn't add to the deck, it just over-extends the deck. :rolleyes:
