The Newest Standard Art Contest is here! This contest is open for everyone, from beginner to master. (Unlike the other Art Contest hosted by our Noble Order.)

For this contest: Choose one - Redesign a Parun/Guildleader; or Design a new Parun/Guildleader.

This is a very open contest, any medium is allowed and the deadline is soft. There is no current deadline, but when enough artists have signed interest it will start. Hopefully there will be some activity!

Also: I will be participating in this contest, I am the host - but not a judge. The judge-team will be announced later.

(Note: A Parun is the who signed the original Guildpact in the Ravnica-world, there was one Parun for each guild. A Guildleader is any leader of any guild, some guilds have had several, while others have changed a couple of times. I was actually contemplating making a sculpture myself, but I realized that Eksperiment Krajj is not a Guildleader and I don't think I can make anything more complicated than that :P

Oh, no matter what the medium I'm all over Svogthir (Post-death. You know, when he's a giant walking church.) It's just the idea of sticking Sculpy tentacle-vines to a model railroad church sounds eerily funny.

A judge-team is being assembled, they will be announced in a near future. If it would come to pass that the elected judges cannot judge, I will withdraw and judge myself.

Since this contest is hosted by our noble Order, a majority of the judges will be Order-patriarchs and initiates. But, we are trying to contact a few outside personas to be "guest"-judges.

Excellent - the deadline won't be until July sometime - so you should have enough time for this. A more exact deadline will probably be available later, but suggestions would be helpful - what date would fit you?

I'm on vacations right now, so any date is fine (let's just hope I don't have to work these vacations too). But not right now, since Sasori and willl and other people are making their exams and I need to rest from school.

These three will be the judges, it is a bit soon right now - since I will try to give you enough time, but don't overestimate the time you are given. Try to get your artworks finished as soon as you can.

Hmm, the deadline was the 9th of July.
Maybe that is a little bit too early for me, because I'm very busy at the moment and can't find time to work on my submission.

Okay, take the time you need. I believe that more entries are far more important than meeting the deadline. Deadlines are a luxury we can't really afford with as few artists as we have in the Vortex I guess.

I just want to get it done now...after spending 40+ hours on a piece, you don't want to let up steam. I've found that I need deadlines or I'll never get a piece done for a client/friend/contest.

And when I say I'll have it done tonight, of course I mean something like 3:47 a.m. Eastern Standard.

There. Finally done...and it's only 4:18 in the morning. Being a teacher, and having the summers off, has some definite advantages.

I figured the Selesnya should have a "stompier" picture for the Chorus of the Conclave....seeing as how they're the second beatdown guild right behind Gruul.

Notice anything familiar about the design on the beasts' bridles? I thought it was an interesting touch.

Just a note, I don't think I'll ever put this much work into another contest for MDV. I sort of got carried away with this one and I've been kicking myself ever since.

This kind of fell by the wayside. Was anyone going to judge this? Just wanted to know since several people, myself included, spent a good deal of time working on our pieces.

Well, this is embarassing...

But I find Kinghonkey the winner of this contest, his work was a stompier-version of the G/W guild, and I find the sharp colours and the purple and green excellent.

Second place: Ben, solid as always.
Third and fourth: Gravespawn and Tekkactus.

This should be de-stickified I guess.
