Wow! Those are awesome!

BTW, in your first post, you only have a / missing, make the second [img] into [*/img] (without the *). And (just in case it hadn't occured to you) there's an edit button on the top right of all of your posts.

Leviathan on the hunt

Awesome work Ben! I would love to see bigger versions if you have any available, to much precious details tend do disappear on smaller resolutions :(

I like the Necromancer and the Leviathan the most, the light on the Leviathan is superb and the sense of scale is fantastic. And the Necromancer is just cool. I would love to see more of your work!

Also the bad details tend to disapear on smaller resolutions

Well, it is through noticing and understanding bad details one improves. So there is nothing negative about big pictures! (except small screens)

I can post a bigger version tomorrow or on sunday, but not today. It's half past eleven here in Germany and i'm lazy...
Should go to bed now...

But till then you may have a look at this one. It's rather old, I think I made it about 3-4 years ago

Edit: Dwarf picture removed from my gallery

I really like your style, how did you colour the leviathan picture - Photoshop? Painter? traditional? (the rays of light look digital at least) Hmm, thanks for showing these - they've been quite inspiring, I need to make some more art of my own.
I look forward to seeing more of your work :)

I found a very usefull tutorial in the internet about three weeks ago. It is by a guy called adi granov (he's doing some serios stuff for marvel comics). Just google for: "adi granov tutorial" and set it to find pictures and you will easily find it.

The technique is very simple, but depends on excellent pencil skills.
You have to start with a picture of this quality to get along.

Edit: Sorry if you can't see the picture, I'm having problems with my server

How ironic! That is exactly the tutorial I found when I looked for ways colour my drawings in photoshop in a simple way. Well it is an excellent tutorial, although the picture I tried it on was a bit lacking. But I realized that it was an excellent way.

The thing is, the drawing should have no white areas, because then it looks silly.
You also have to play around with the multiply layers and the opactiy to get good results.

Just take a look at the drawing i made for devils reject to see what happens when the drawing is not completely finished when you start to color it. It becomes very comic like.

Oh, okay... Hmm, I will try to make a drawing and make a try at colouring it with this technique. Hopefully it will turn out good. Thanks a lot for the advice!

Note that even this djinn drawing offers some serios problems with the technique.
The sand and the thing the djinn is wearing(Idon't know what its called in english) are the biggest...

Looks like it's time for a new Art contest.

(A real contest this time, because the last didn't have much to do with a contest)

Wow, that's easily the best one yet! Definitely WOTC-worthy! I can easily see something like that being used for Craw Wurm- the art even fits the flavour text! :P

It's very good - but... Bigger! Post it bigger! :D

Ben

Small pictures always look better. This drawing is an A4 originally and I scaled it down so it looks like you are standing a few meters away from it. Note that not all of my pictures in this gallery are smaller than the original. The necromancer is actually original size.

However, I respect your wish to know how this drawing is made so I will post some high resolution details on the next weekend.
