Why do I have to log in twice? First thing I do I log on then when I go to reply in the forum I have to log in yet another time, is this like a new feature?

The same thing has been happening to me lately. I do know this has been happening for a while, but never to me before the updates.

This will be figured out eventually...

Thanks, BB, for getting card tags to work again.

This is a test.

EDIT -

I've tested this in FOUR browsers now, using the mainpage login, and I haven't experienced the issue described yet.

This leads me to believe that it may be that it's possibly a cache setting or cookies not working. For now, I'd try logging out, force a refresh on the main page (ctrl+f5 in most browsers) and see if the issue repeats itself.

Sometimes when I post, I get a page cannot be found error.

lionden_56
03-24-2006, 04:00 PM
That sounds like something with your connection or computer.
Do a lot of other sites get errors every once in a while?

Streetz

I'm still having the problem with logging in twice...

lionden_56
03-24-2006, 07:45 PM
Log in through PM's. It only needs it once if you go that way.

ButteBlues
03-24-2006, 09:00 PM
I'm still not sure what could be causing that issue for you Streetz.

I cleared cookies and logged in with Opera, Firefox, IE6, and IE7 BETA and never did I have to to login multiple times. You could try clearing your cookies and making sure you have cookies enabled (Tools > Options).

Why do we have the little thread icons (I mean the ones that are like http://www.magicdeckvortex.com/phpBB/images/icons/icon1.gif and http://www.magicdeckvortex.com/phpBB/images/icons/icon9.gif)? Does anybody really ever use them? I've *always* found them to be just a huge distraction.

ButteBlues
03-24-2006, 11:40 PM
The thread icons come pre-installed with the software. I didn't add them, and they get minimal use, but it'd really be a waste to remove them.

No just this one. Everthing else works fine.

Well, don't forget also that there *are* plenty of people who like them. Right after the update, I do remember a few praising them. -shrug-

No just this one. Everthing else works fine.

This is an odd problem, but again, must be an isolated incident with your PC. I have no issues with loading pages.

I have that problem too sometimes, but I thought it was a problem from my computer. Just do like I always do: before clicking the Submit button, always press Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C, and then submit (basically, select all and copy). So if that error happens, you don't have to write all your post again.

When one says something is "sound", it generally implies that whatever is being presented has a solid foundation, and is strongly beneficial to make use of.

In this case, it is sound advice to copy a post before posting. Why? Because, should something go wrong, you have a contingency plan.

Your Worst Nightmare
03-25-2006, 12:31 PM
Ooooooooo! Ok, thanks.

Wait a minute, but then 'It is sound advice to lower the sound of your stereo!' doesn't make that much sence... Especialy when followed by 'WHAT!? IT'S TOO LOUD, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!' :paranoid:

lionden_56
03-25-2006, 12:39 PM
This is getting off topic, but I'll continue it anyway.
The term "sound advice" generally isn't thrown around that loosely. Sound advice is generally for something important, like posting on MDV :P

ButteBlues
03-25-2006, 12:50 PM
Also, in the example you prevented, it would be: It is sound advice to muffle the speakers on your stereo to prevent the music from being too loud. ;)

Do you have something interfering with the site? Possibly something blocking Javascript from the site?

I tested it in IE6 when signed in, and when signed out, and the Forum Jump worked every time.

Your Worst Nightmare
03-25-2006, 05:10 PM
Well, I can only see it when I'm logged off. When I log in, it only shows:

Should work now.

I've tested it on a test account I made in both IE and Firefox.

It works now! Yeah...!

Another thing, you said you would add a BBcode Button organizer thingy just because it had to do with aesthetic. But in that case, wouldn't it be aestheticaly better if all the buttons were of the same size?
Mind you, I'm not meaning to rush you, just saying what is still missing (even though I suppose you know what it is...).

(And was I STILL supposed to see the Mod button??)

ButteBlues
03-26-2006, 02:56 PM
The BBCodes are set right now for their size to be appropriate for the Text inside the button. Of course, if enough people wanted all the buttons to remain the same size, I could easily make it so.

As for seeing the mod button in QR box, it's something that I can't really change. However, even though you can see the button, if anyone besides a mod/admin tries to make a post using the [mod] tag, they will get a screen saying they do not have the necessary permissions to use that tag.

Too add an update to the issue that only seems to happen at this time of night.

can't find the web site 400 Bad Request The site may no longer exist or it may have moved.
Double-check for any misspellings, punctuation errors, or extra spaces

I don't get such errors.

Chances are, the server was having maintenance done, back ups, etc. (Afterall, one must remember that MDV isn't the only site on the server)

Your Worst Nightmare
03-27-2006, 06:13 AM
Tresserhorn, it's probably your net connection that fails sometimes. Even if just for less than a second, if it's at the precise time you are submiting a post, that page will appear. But don't worry, most of the times your post goes through. All you have to do is refresh the window (F5 in most keyboards or click the refresh icon above).

Whats happened to the mana symbols? I was posting some card ideas and it doesn't show half of them!

Your Worst Nightmare
05-15-2006, 08:03 AM
It's not just the mana symbols, some other smilies don't appear too!

If you open the View more Emoticons menu you can see which ones are missing.

ButteBlues

I'll try and find old ones/make a new set.

When I post a reply and take quite some time to finish it, I sometimes seem to get kicked out for beeing inactive too long. Then that little post is totaly gone, going backwards will not help, then. I was just curious: How long does it take before I get kicked out and have to login again? And could you by any chance up that time, since the freakin' forum already ate several of my posts? At first I was hoping I would grow used to it and do such things as crtl + a, crtl + c, but since I seem to be to old a dog to learn any new tricks :( I need to rely on the Tech to help me, or get the posts doen quicker. And I would prefer to keep my writing as it is... ;)

ButteBlues

Is it an issue with your cookies? Are you using a public computer? Are you using a cookie to track you when you sign in?

Yezzandrix
05-24-2006, 03:30 AM
Cookies: I think cookies are allright, I usually don't face any problems. Ebay requires you to have cookies activated, for instance, and ebay works just fine.

Public computer: Yes, sort of a public computer, it is at my Uni. But on the one I use I actually have enough rights to install programs. This one has few to no blockades (I never saw anything that I was NOT allowed to do.)

Sign in automatically: No, I don't really like that feature. I was thinking about that too, as a solution, but I wasn't really sure if it wouldn't just send me to the forum index, then as it does when you login. It may of course just do the "post Reply"-login. What would be happening?

ButteBlues
05-24-2006, 05:10 PM
Well, optimal use of the forums is usually found when you use a "permanent" cookie. However, many public computers use "timed" cookies, which expire after X seconds. If you login with a timed cookie, and then type a really long post, for example, you might exceed the amount of time the cookie lasts, which would cause you to log out.

Yezzandrix
05-26-2006, 03:04 AM
Sounds reasonable. In that case, I will have to see what I will do, most likely copy&paste. Thanks for the info.
