The MDV Open!
Cotton: Yes Folks the MDV Open is once again here and boy am I excited!
Pepper: I am too Cotton.
Cotton: For those of you new to the WMFA the rules are simple: Six men on each side throwing balls around trying to knock the other team off their feet.
Pepper: Sounds like Thanksgiving at Grandma’s house!
Cotton: After each team picks themselves up we will get to the main spot, the pro-bowl of mafia if you will. The internet’s brightest-
Pepper: Fluorescent!
Cotton: - and dullest will come together for a winner take all and a loser take nothing battle of the titans. For more on the rulings you will find it in your copy of WMFA Guidebook of Rules and Regulations. It seems the contestants are making their way onto the ground as we speak… Can we get a close up on them Bob?

Tournament Section
Rule 1.1: All official WMFA tournaments will be held in an official WMFA sized Arena. No participant may leave this arena at anytime under any circumstance. No outside help will be allowed via E-mail, PM, Cell Phones, smoke signals, Car Horns, or any other type of communication to anyone inside or outside the game unless specifically allowed by a WMFA official.
Rule 1.2: If any participant has any questions about the Game, Tournament, their role in the game, the Rules and Regulations, or anything else at all short of a question that can be answered with a two digit number who’s parts add up to a sum of Six can send a quick PM to any and all WMFA official at any time.
Rule 2.0: Participants in the game will vote for other participants in the [Vote: Player name] Format. It is required that the vote is bolded but it is not required for the player name to be an exact match. As long as it is painfully obvious to everyone who the participant is voting for it will be allowed. Any participant may also vote for a No Lynch. A majority of No Lynch votes is required to end the phase without a death.
Rule 2.1: Unvoting is required before every new vote if the participant is already voting another player at the time. Failure to comply with this rule will forfeit the attempted vote. Also, any participants who abuse this rule in any way is subject to termination with deadly force.
Rule 2.3: In order for a participant to be lynched a simple majority of the votes is required. Once this majority has been reached nothing can stop the lynch from taking place outside of specific role given talents.
Rule 2.3b: After the final vote is placed and before the thread is locked the ‘twilight’ phase will be enacted. All participants are allowed to talk in the thread. Groups of informed individuals who are allowed to communicate outside the arena may not communicate during twilight but must wait for the official phase shift. Anyone caught breaking this rule is subject to termination with deadly force.
Rule 2.6: Deadlines may be enacted at any time at the discretion of WMFA officials. Extensions may be requested if sufficient reason presents itself. It takes half, rounded up, of the needed majority to lynch at deadline. If no player has reached this then a no lynch shall occur.
Rule 2.9: Once a player has been lynched, killed, terminated, or in any way removed from the game they are not allowed any future communication within the arena until the tournament’s end. Failure to comply with this rule the first time will be considered a ‘BAH’. Failure to comply with it a second time will result in more severe punishments.
Rule 3: Night will have a pre-set deadline given by the WMFA Official. Any Night actions not received by that time will be considered a no action. Informed groups that have been instructed they are allowed to talk may communicate with each other at this time. Any participant may request a ‘break room’ to hold their meetings from the WMFA official. The official will set it up for the participants and will monitor the activities. Failure to keep night discussion limited to night, or any attempt at providing your own ‘break room’ for meetings will be considered a breach of contract and could result in the forfeit of your entire team.
Rule 3b: All actions must be sent into a WMFA official in a timely fashion. The participants are expected to list the subject of the PM as [Mafia- Role name action] to help avoid any confusion. However, the official will be lenient as long as the subject is related to the game and/or their role. Participants are expected to clearly illustrate what action they are performing and who, if any, their targets are.
Rule 4.1: Participants who are inactive for longer then a 48 hour period is subject to official WMFA prodding. Any participant to accumulate 3 WMFA prods in a single tournament will be executed on the spot. Lurking is not an official strategy endorsed by the WMFA and any attempt to do so will result in immediate termination.
Rule 4.2: If a participant has any reason to become officially inactive for any reason they may request time off from the WMFA official. The participant is also required to explain why and for how long he will be gone to the other participants. Failure to inform the official or the other Participants of time off may result in termination.
Rule 5.1m: The WMFA official is not all knowing. Although he or she may have memorized every rule book ever made on the sport there may be some situations where he or she fails at their job. The participants are urged to point out any mistakes quickly in a professional manner.
Rule 5.2m: Any questions pertaining to the game may be asked via Pm to any WMFA Official. Any in-thread question or statement to the Official must be in [Bold] and clearly visible.
Rule 5.5p: Any and all post must be visible. No altered posts are allowed through editing, change in text size, white or invisible text, or any other form of deception. Failure to comply with this rule may lead to immediate termination.
Rule 6: This is a game. Have fun. Respect your other participants while you are killing them. Failure to comply with this rule will result in termination and possible blacklistment.
Rule 7: The WMFA reserves the right to add any rules or regulations they see fit at any time. Failure to comply with these new rules will result in immediate termination.
Rule 7b: Standard MDV rules and regulations apply as well. Failure to follow these will result in disciplinary action by the MDV mods and immediate termination from the WMFA.
Rule 8: All participants must sign that they have read, understand, and accept these rules and regulations. This is done by posting [Signed: Your Name] in thread along with your confirmation post. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action and loss of game privileges.
Open Game Rules
Rule 1.1o: All roles, alignments, names, abilities, etc will be revealed before the game begins. All participants are expected to understand all common mafia roles, names, and abilities. Any questions may be directed toward a WMFA official.
Rule 1.2o: Upon start of the game each player will be randomly assigned:
1: A role name
2: A role ability
3: An alignment
4: An altercation
5: A specialty
Rule 1.3o: Any informed minority will also be given a list of their partners and their partner’s Name, ability, and alignment. Specific group rules will be clearly given to participants at this time. Failure to follow those rules will result in disciplinary actions.
Rule 1.4o: All roles and Alignments will be random. This means the mafia may be given the vig, cop, and doc while the town is given nothing. All participants are expected to understand this and accept the possibility of overbalanced sides.
Rule 1.5o: All participants are expected to understand these rules. Any misunderstandings or confusion should be cleared up with the WMFA official before signing up to play in an Open game.
