Not quite; the idea behind Planar Chaos was to create a card where that kind of effect could have been. For example, though the idea of "full pump" in Red like Brute Force is unlikely, red does have access to attack boost, so it isn't completely out of the question. What he's asking for is something that makes absolutely no sense, like Red getting life gain or damage prevention.

I'm pretty sure the whole point is that it can be almost anything. The real contest is finding some ability or style that's completely against what a color believes and make it fit a card in some wacky and ingenuitive way.

You could do that, but it wouldn't do too well. The idea is to make an out of color idea make sense flavorfully.

I'm in. My card is a split-second counterspell and dark ritual combined for :b::b::b:. Probably broken, but think about it. Black can do anything, for a price. If you can't pay that price, it'll take your life and/or soul. So in this case, black can counter a spell, but it forces you to take :b::b::b: along with it, and the likelyhood is that you will be countering a spell on your opponent turn. This will make it difficult to use the mana, and the mono-black mage will very likley suffer three points of mana burn for playing this, unless they control a mana-sink permanent on the board. Another aspect of the card I like is that it can chain into multiple copies of itself, which counter multiple storm copies on the stack. Black can do anything for a price, but a hard counterspell isn't very black at all, especially one with split second- much more blue. Adding three black mana used to be a black ability, but nowadays rituals are red, so there's a good amount of breaking the color pie going on. Also, really happy with the flavor text. Any comments welcome.

That isn't broken? I may be over re-acting here, but all the vintage players of the world just cheered. I'm trying to set up my combo and you counter one of my pieces. ok, sure, I'll use this, and then Demonic Tutor up my kill condition, like Tendrils, which has a storm count of atleast 3. I think you give black to little credit.

Even in the current standard, that would make MBC so good. I can counter AND Unmake for :b::b::b:!!

I'm not trying to be mean, but that card is insanely good in a good black players hand.

Hmm... you have a point there. I was basing this card on a similar one I made before, and I thought it felt like it was missing something. I'm adding text to make it less powerfull by placing a heavy restriction on what the mana can be used for- only activated abilities of permanents or on other spells named Psychotic Denial.
