the 16 men on a dead man's chest arose from the few stories of when Captian Kidd buried his treasure, he went ashore with 16 other men, and killed them all so that known knew where it was buried. at least thats how the history books show it. yea interesting round there, pictures instead of flavour text, a new venue, just seemed out of context with the title of the contest though imo. but to each their own.

The control part of the card would be more than sufficient, and some p/t goodness. You don't have to slap 3 extraneous abilities onto the card to make it good.

Act2, accusing a judge of setting up alt accounts and messing with contests is not a great way to win them over... it's also more than a little rude. If you have reason to suspect people are behaving in this way, it's something to take up with the Mods, not just to randomly post because some letters rhyme with others.

Using the ability on yourself is like "Lay on hands" as where on an opponent will make it more of a "banish". I donno, just a thought I had one day walking home and thought that it has its perks. I'm hoping that I don't get flamed too hard for this >_<.

umm actually you cant banish, unless your wanting to think of another unglued or unhinged card set card, other then that no, that type of ability wont come in standerd play. One example is Ass Whuppin'

I like the concept. However, it really seems like a Psychatog type of card. Much too powerful.

Oh yay! Now I get to play Cashew and tell the contestants if they wouldn't rather consider fishing for a hobby because they aren't going anywhere on card design. I'll also judge cards based on Fallen Empires's color pie instead of the current one. And I'll obviously take this friendly argument exchange to heart and lash out at YWN next contest. You'll have to tell me where exactly do you see stitches on the guy, because apparently you were the only one who did. Also, Shock-like direct damage is red, not black. Black has either Famine or Vicious Hunger-like direct damage, but not straight up Shocks. As for the Frankenstein's Monster throwback, I actually liked it. But sadly, the rest fell short.

I just couldn't see anything in that artwork to suggest why a creature would repeatedly attack if it was unopposed.
Also, I know there's an ox-cart (artifact) and some humans (creature) being smashed up in the picture.... but why would that be an additional cost for casting the spell? Looks to me like he's going and destroying other peoples stuff... so the sacrifice mechanic made no sense to me, flavour-wise. If it was a hideous ogre beating up creatures that it might normally be accosiated with (greenskins or other ogres, that kinda stuff), then ok... but he looks like an invader on foreign soil to me.

Saying that though, judging things like flavour is a very personal choice... so I'm sure other people might have felt very differently about it. For me it just didn't fit right with the mechanic, and seemed to be trying to be far too literal.

Not with me... flavour-wise I didn't think it really worked. It's not completely off, as he is throwing loads of stuff up into the air, and his is quite tall. I can certainly see any passing drakes or whatever giving him a wide birth. But no, I didn't care for that take on the flavour.

In retrospect I'm affraid I actually would've scored your card a little lower than I did. Now although you were most likely just trying to be creative with having "Avien" be a tribe and creature type, I thought that to be pretty poor work when "Bird" is already a creature type. I would assume, given the art, that Aviens are some kind of humanoid bird? But in Magic, humanoid birds are "birds". Humanoid cats are "cats". If you want to give them fancy names like Nacatl, then do so.. but if you start making cards with "Creature - Nacatl Warrior" then you weaken the strength of tribes and a lot of the continuity within the game itself.
Your wording was pretty sloppy, too, so it's no wonder the judge who gave you the lowest score was YWN.. our local wording aficionado.

I dunno. It didn't look like he'd just thrown the stuff too me. There were too many things, and small chunks of things, all still in the air. If they'd just been thrown, they would've come down before that much could accumulate. But eh, that's just how I saw it. I guess a picture can be interpeted dozens of ways. One of the reasons this round was so interesting.

As the winner Crono you typically start the thread when you have all three quotes/pictures/whatever. Make your own thread, just copying and pasting from an old one. If you need me to I can do it for you, and may make a request or straight up change to your rules (usually on the due date some people set it for far too long like a month 2 weeks at the most is the best policy).
