I liked the article, and the contest, even though I ended in... 13th? Lucky I'm not superstitious, right? :paranoid:

Well congrats to Cashew, very well deserved mate... and it great to see you using all those pent-up ideas after having to sit out for so many contests (well, not sit out... judge... but you know...).

Also, congrats and to pretty much everyone, really... great to see so many good entries this contest. I hope a lot of the newer faces of recent contests stick around for the monthly rounds... as the only way to feel like a real man is to have stiff competition to measure yourself against.... um, what?

That YWN won the bonus round was well deserved.
When I saw his art, I couldn't breathe anymore and knew that he would win :D

Before I go doing any congratulating, let me give you my second point to be made:
Cashew wrote:
I'm going to win this. End of discussion.

(muhahaha)

That quote was made on June 23, 2008. It was the very first post after Streetz began the thread for this contest.

Let me show you my own post back in june:

Dont know about the top 5, but i`ll be second. Always just second...

:D

Congrats Cashew, well deserved

:E Thanks Ham. It means alot to me to read that.

:E :E :E

Now don't want MDV Idol 4 to get back into contests. Which by the way I am hoping to make even better this time around too!

Firstly, congratulations on the win Cashew. You were my prediction for a well deserved, if slightly arrogant, first place. :D

Secondly, major thanks go to Tynion for running and judging this whole thing. I'm sure it was a huge effort, and it made for a very fun contest. Much appreciation.

I'm sorry if I dissapointed you, as you say. Honestly, I never expected to set 'the bar' so high. In these contests, I'm generally the really decent entry, with one or two flaws that leaves me in about 3rd-6th place. I never expected to do as well as I did, really. I suppose it was inevitable that I would drop the bomb, but it was a fun run while it lasted.

I was really unsure about Master of the Game, but a DM card was the best idea I could come up with for the text. Shadow (which blue is actually the second most common color for, with 14 cards to black's 18) may have been a mistake, but I needed a way for it to not be involved in combat, and to represent existing in a different state of reality. Plus I needed an excuse to make it part blue, as knowledge/research is a large part of DMing.

Well, I had fun, and didn't come in 22nd this time. Congrats to everyone who did well. I hope you all exceeded your expectations too.

Fit the Flavor 2008 - FINALLY! - by Chris Newton - fix'd

First off, Congratz to cashew on first place, and thanks to tynion for running this thing.

FI: Oh.. I like this card, and so does Psychatog!! I don’t think they do enough with alternate win cards, and I think this one seems to be a good concept to explore. I do think that 20 cards is a bit low considering that I really have no options available to me to break up that number.

Score: 24
10 / 10 pts - Adherence to Flavor (How well the card fits the flavor text)
5 / 5 pts - Card Balance (proper casting cost, power level, etc)
4 / 5 pts - Design Fundamentals (color pie, tribe traits, etc)
5 / 5 pts – Creativity (Overall creativity and originality in your design)
0 / 0 pts – Rules Adherence (Minus points for not following easy rules)

You were mentioning card balance, but knocked the point off fundamentals... accidently knock the point off the wrong category? Or do you just like leaving me in the dark?... Just curious; can't get better unless i know what i did wrong' :)

(Oh and Final Press, you didn't lose by 1 point, gratz :P)

It's all in jest. I may come off as arrogant at times, but usually I'm just goofing off playin' the fool. Maybe some will leave my judging skills alone in the future now (but I doubt it!)
