Ladies and Gentlemen, round 6 of this superb event starts now! ;)

You all know how it works: make a card based on one of the three flavor text`s you see here:

Flavor 1: "Sometimes the only difference between a lie and the truth is in how much pain you apply." - (Apply name of choice)

Flavor 2: "Ancient texts of forbidden power often neglect to include little things... like the price involved, or tentacles... always the tentacles...."

Flavor 3: "Come here, beloved enemy. Your sanity has a flavor."

The cards then will be judged on a set rubric out of 25.
/10 pts - Adherence to Flavor
/5 pts - Card Balance (proper casting cost, power level, etc)
/5 pts - Design Fundamentals (color pie, tribe traits, etc)
/5 pts - Creativity

Your Jugdes to do so are:
- ShaKadelic
- Luthervamplord
- Azrael Subucni

Read the Rules:
- You can choose which flavour text to use, but you can only submit ONE card.
- Make sure you specify which flavour text your card is based on.
- This thread is for submissions only. There will be a separate thread where you can freely discuss stuff regarding the contest.
- You can enter this contest even if you never participated in any of the previous rounds.
- Submit only text! No card rendering, no images, no links, and no mana-smilies. (2)(B) is okay, :2mana::b: is not.
- Deadline for entries is 8/20/08. No additional time for editing your submission.

Your Reward:
Fit the Flavor counts for the MSS; scoring works as follows:
[Contestants]*1.5 - ([Placement] - 1) * 1.5 = Points awarded.

Ok folks, have fun :E

Painful Decisions - 1 W/B W/B

Gra'ok's Touch XBBB
Sorcery
Choose one - Target opponent puts X cards from his or her hand on top of his or her library in any order; or Fateseal X (Look at the top X cards of an opponent’s library, then put any number of them on the bottom of that player’s library and the rest on top in any order.).
Entwine B (Choose both if you pay the entwine cost.)
"Come here, beloved enemy. Your sanity has a flavor." - Gra'ok, Phyrexian Demon

A tribute to Gix! In one of the novels, I think it was The Brothers' War, Gix (a Phyrexian Demon) would feed on his subjects' emotions (so to speak) by inserting a claw in their brain, hence "touch." Gra'ok is similar, but he feeds on sanity instead.

Mind Threader- 5
Artifact (R)

When Mind Threader comes into play chose an opponent, the chosen player then reveals their hand and you name a card. That player then removes a card in their hand from the game face down.

At the beginning of each player's upkeep, if the last card removed from the game with Mind Threader isn't the named card, Mind Threader deals 2 damage to the chosen player and you put another copy of this card into play.

At the beginning of each player's upkeep,if the last card removed from the game with Mind Threader is the named card, Sacrifice Mind Threader; Mind Threader deals 5 damage to that player and returns all cards removed from the game with Mind Threader to their owner's hand.

Vengeful Tome 3
Artifact- Rare

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may have target player gain control of Vengeful Tome.

Whenever you play a non-creature spell, sacrifice a creature.

"Ancient texts of forbidden power often neglect to include little things... like the price involved, or tentacles... always the tentacles..."

just a note to explain. my design is simple for a reason. i didn't feel the need to address the flavor text directly. i.e. incorporating a tentacled monster or merfolk analogy. The art would look something like a mage in front of an ancient book casting a spell while out of the dark behind him one of his minions is being hauled off into the dark by tentacles. i chose to address the "price" more than the source of the tentacles.

Sacred Tome of the Merfolk (4)

Legendary Artifact

2U (T) Sacrifice a Merfolk, and put a 2/5 blue squid token with defender into play. When this token is destroyed, opponent loses life equal to the damage dealt to ~ in that turn, and you remove that many cards from the top of your library and put them in your graveyard.

UU(T) Sacrifice ~, and search your graveyard for X Merfolk and put them into play, where X is how many squid tokens are in play. For each Merfolk put into play, you sacrifce a squid token.

Mind Chomp - UBR
Sorcery
Target opponent may pay any amount of life. That player discards his or her hand, then draws a card for each 1 life he or she paid this way. You gain that much life.
"Come here, beloved enemy. Your sanity has a flavor."

Ideally, this card's art would feature either Crosis, Nicol Bolas, or the unnamed Dragon Mage, to warrant the 'Chomp' in the name.

If you think three mana seems too few for this effect, look at Wheel and Deal and realize this card is a sorcery instead, doesn't cantrip, and needs three different colored mana to be played. And to explain the reason for those three colors, note that both blue and red have Winds of Change-like effects in their share of the pie (Wheel of Fortune/Fate, Incendiary Command, Whirlpool Rider, Whirlpool Drake, Whirlpool Warrior, Tolarian Winds, etc), and that black is the color of discard, period; as well of vampiric consumption.

I also take this opportunity to explain the reason why it's your opponent deciding the amount of life he loses. Because it would be broken otherwise. :P No really, because with this card you're attacking your opponent's mind (the player's hand), not physically harming him. The amount of damage the mind does to its own body as a result of the attack doesn't depend on you. Just to clear things up.
