Tynion is going to talk about makeup/an X-Men character?

Then you may want to spell better.

Edit: Tynion may want to spell better, rather.

Ouch. Fixed. :)

EDIT: Fixed the article and banner too... Tynion spelled it as Rouge... and I just followed suit... yikes. :)

I believe the X-Men character spelled her name Rogue. She's no Rouge, to be sure.

Listen... MS Word said that I was right, so damn it! I was right! I had no red squiggilies under the word :)

However, I wouldnt mind the female actress of (however the character name is spelled) ......

Streetz.. A man thinks best when he has a full belly, and sitting on the toilet.

Wait until my next article and I discuss the method in which we celebrated Odyessy rotating out by buring and flushing Wild Mongrels and Basking Rootwallas :)

Another great article by Tynion... but there is one thing about the article that I disliked. Although, this would have probably made it much longer, I believe the article needed more talk about proactive strategies for building rogue decks.

Chris talks about how he devises a plan to go up against the metagame with a deck (Wizard-OP). This was pretty much a metagame decision, and a reactive strategy. Meaning that he was focusing on building a deck intended to go against certain decks.

Another aspect of going rogue is trying out a proactive deck; One that focuses more on its own strategy, rather than the strategy of other decks. One of the most recent examples was the building of Ghazi-Glare by the Japanese at Champs/Worlds 2005. The deck is based on its own strategy, instead of the strategies of other decks. And as we can see from recent results, this method of "Going Rogue" also becomes successful in a lot of cases.

12Post in Mirrodin Block is another example. People were focused on Broodstar Affinity and Trinity Green, when all of a sudden Gabriel Nassif and a few others decide to expand on a card, thought as unplayable. The card was Tooth and Nail, and became one of the cornerstones of Mirrodin Block Season and the Mirrodin Standard Seasons. This is another example of a proactive "Going Rogue" strategy that proved successful.

But it was a good article overall. Thanks for another great read. Chris never lets me down. lol. 8)

Oh, and for the record Streetz, that pic you pasted on there of Spagetti looks bombericious.

Its to bad that us bachelours have to go get raped at Olive Grden to have spegetti like that. THat fateful night that we made the food, it was all runny.. watery sauce, way too many noodles, and of course there is never any parmacioun cheese when you have pasta.

So tonight, I will go home and cook me up a tv dinner and work on my next article.

Be thankful I dont have a woman in my life.. then I'd never have a moment to write. But, I'd have good food then!

Way to go with the rogue creations!
I love going rogue, I've even won a big PTQ with one. You are so right; ppl just don't see it coming and thus cannot pack effective hate. I didn't lose a game untill the final that day! Rogue decks are also just more fun, and when you get your metagame figured out to that degree it's a very satisfying feeling to ride your rogue deck into a top 8.
Nice article Tynion. oh yeah...you're 1/2 right about girlfriends. I don't have time to write much, but every time she cooks we both regret it!

Ah, forgot about that one detail.

It is true that most beginners won't want to start off trying to create the deck that will break the format. lol. Well, with that aside, it was, yet another, a good and well-thought out article. I would love to see a future article that increases on this one. Perhaps one for moderate players, and then for advanced players. That would be cool. "Going Rogue" is just such an interesting and unexplored topic for the most part.

Great Job Chris. Keep 'em coming. :D

BTW, girls are overrated and have cooties. Eww... Cooties.

Girls FTW!

That being said, this article was a good introduction to the ideas of the rogue deckbuilder. Are you considering continuing with this idea? I always love to hear the stories :)

Well, I had not considered it before, and here is the problem. I havent played magic in literally years. Everything I write about is purely in hind sight, its all memories. The theories, the decks i've played, everything 2+ years old. I couldn't begin to write about current day metagame, and I don't think it would make much sense to write about a hypothetical meta game from a different era.

I'f I played still, well truth be told, I probably would not have time to write, I'd would like to think I would take you up on that.

Believe it or not, I just submitted an article to Streetz that include my first deck build in probably 2 years. Since around..September of 2003. It took me two days of research, 2 hour sessions each, to gather the information about new cards and such that I don't know about. I like the deck and all, but the problem I have, is that I can not play test it to even see if the thing is as potentially good as I think it is.

Most of the cards in the deck would count towards a rogue style deck, but it wouldn't do well in a tournament due to format.

I appreciate the support, but I dont know if there are more of these stories to come. Even if I wanted to do so, I would need help and I just dont know if I have the time or the desire to learn about the current game. Yes, I am an old dog when it comes to Magic.

btw.. if you go to your grave believing girls have cooties, you will die with a full head of hair, and not one strand will be grey.
