The best deck will likely be a form of U/B control or just MUC.

My tiers look like this:
Tier one
U/B control
Rats
Red White Weenie

Tier two
Rock w/ blue
Gifts
Red Aggro

Tier 3
W/G stompy
R/G Wildfire

I think blue gifts could be tier one. The new blue Auras are really good. I think that deck could turn some heads.
I maybe drop rats from tier 1 to tier 2. I think rats lose a race with R/W weenie, and the big bruisers from 3/4 color gifts can overrun them. Against a U/B control its fear mechanic from cutthroats is irrelivant, so the early damage won't be there. I don't think that deck competes as well in the new format against what look like some really strong decks.

I've been testing this RGW Aggro deck on MWS, so far its really good and i dont think i've lost a match yet (not really keeping trach tho :/).

I"ll make a thread with the perfected decklist when its done... so far there are alot of kinks tho.

rats are still good because they have a chance against control with discard (hippie, ravenous) but gifts sucks against U/B control

U/B is an excellent deck...can beat weenie with infiltrator and hideous laughter

once rav hits what will we have to use once it rotates in? what expansions will we lose? mirroden, darksteel, 5th dawn?

I agree that U/B will be the strongest deck to beat in T2.. not that I play all that often.. but there are QUITE a few strong UB Mill cards in the RAVNICA set thus far.

I believe WR will be runner up. Lightning Helix all the way.

You think about the metagame too enclosed, IMO, UB will the be worst deck, because mill is an effect that only matters when the game is over, and has no real effect on the game until then. So far, the only real Metagame decks serious player are testing is

• RW Weenie
• Enduring Ideal (ok, not really this one, but i'm playing it)
• Sushi Snacks 2.0
• Rock
• Rock with White

MBC can still compete, it got Shred Memory, Last Gasp, Moonlight Bargain, Helldozer and possibly Shadow of Doubt to play with. And kamigawa still has some nifty black cards too. Only too bad barter in blood, O-stone and damping matrix are gone.

I think tier 1 will be this:

U/B control(NOT mill)
rock
B/G control
MBC(not sure)
WW/RWW/RGWW

Maybe gifts could keep it up too. I don't think rats will be able to stay t1, they lose vial and chittering rats.

The thing is, with all the mana fixing, there's just no reasons to play MBC. It's so easy to play U/B or B/G, even if just for a card like putrefy.

GW Glare and Greater Gifts should definitely be considered Tier 1 now. I would also say RW Weenie has gone down to Tier 2, as it seems like every deck has a lot of strong answers to it anyway. UB control is definitely good but mill sucks. Critical Mass (UG) is also a very strong deck. Probably Tier 2.
