Are you getting sick of the card creation contests?
Well this might be up your alley then. I am setting this up to be a contest for the artists of MDV. Each month, I will select the best 'original' pieces submitted and those pieces will grace the pages of the MDV Newsletter.
You will be submitting art for the next month, so keep in mind a few things that I will be looking for:
What is going on in the MDV universe?
What is the time of year?
Is this something relating to MDV at all?
What is this guy smoking?
The 'WOW' factor.
Lastly, I am looking for pieces in different sizes and styles. Once you see the first Newsletter, you will see that I am looking for a banner type to go on the front cover, a few smaller pieces to go along the sides of the pages, and one bigger piece that will be the back cover.
Interested? Then get to work with your arts and let's see what you've got.
Winning pieces will be chosen five days prior to the end of each month and I will list who won and the name of these pieces.
Please follow all traditional forum rules regarding artwork and spam. If you are unsure, take a look at the Original Artwork forum and read the rules there.
Art Shop work is acceptable. Real life work is acceptable. Coloring is also acceptable. Keep in mind that I need the original artist for all work done to someone else's piece. If you don't supply me with the proper credits, I can not use your art.

uh.......can we get a link to the Newsletter? i mean, wouldn't want to make a goblin themed cover for a first page elf article i suppose...
just a little confused here, but you're talking about an image that serves as the front of the pdf or whatever you use, and the back, plus little banners (probably vertical) to scatter throughout the articles to pretty it up?
Sure! :D I'd just like to know what the newsletter topics are. Is there a limit to how many we can do? [there's multiples topics right?]
Uhm...how big? Standard A4 dimensions + banners?
When you say Artwork, we can use shoppery as well right? Just asking because the MTGsally contests use the term Artwork strickly for RL art and not shoppery.

You will not be doing work for the first issue, I am finalizing it as we speak, and plan to issue it next week. So once you see it, you will know what I am looking for. :)
However, Shoppery is fine. Chop shop, real life artwork is great, coloring like Scion does is good... SO LONG AS YOU GIVE ME THE ORIGINAL ARTIST (for credits) I need to add this to the first post. Good question :)

What FKIH said. D:
I'm not really sure what to do until I see the layout of the pages and what the articles are going to be about. D:
Perhaps you could tell us more? Or do we have to wait until next week? D:

If I can get this program installed on my laptop, I'll be good to go, if not I'll use paint.
Jeez Tynion, what ever happened to your 20 turns of Water-torture?
This sounds interesting. Maybe I'll join.

When is the deadline for the April submission? I'm willing to test my hand or claw at it.
While I'm at it I could sign up for this mailing list, genehei@hotmail.com. Mailing your account would be to bothersome.

Am I the only one entering? :P Well it's not original, but I thought to keep a little feel to magic would be nice. More to come later hopefully.
my entry for this month. thought that it might be useful to work in something similar to portrait format although its a landscape ;)

I am working on the Newsletter as we speak. I'll give you guys another day or so, then I have to call it and grab the art. As we speak, I have an entry from Ryu and a couple from Ben.
EDIT:
Dude, did you do the cave yourself? THat is absolutley amazing.
You other guys are going to need to step it up...
jep, did the cave in two hours without reference. I'm really surprised that people like it that much. I hesitated to put it on da for a few days because I didn't think it was good enough for my gallery :)

I just wanted to let you guys know that I am changing the score a little for this. I am changing it from a contest to a Side Event, which a new concept I am developing. Basically, we are not getting enough participation to even be worth your while... soooo, instead I will make it a Side Event. What that means is that for every piece of your I use, I will give you a flat 10 points in the MSS under that months Newsletter Art Side Event. As of right now, I am looking at using two of Ben's and one of Ryuzaki.
Ben, the Tower and Cave are the one's I am looking at using. :)
Just finished another picture that I want to add to my submissions...

I'll see if I can come up something by tomorrow if that works.
I have to at least tie with him.
I did this awhile ago, but thought it would be fun to get a Rakdo-like art.

Art: A picture. Color: Ryuzaki
and

There, two more arts, so you should have more to choose from. :P
I do wonder how you'll use the rakdos one with those silly human-like arms.

Great! This will fit the month's theme very well (both ben's and Scion's submissions that is.) At least in my opinion.
To the other's out there: Do not be afraid, you want to help the Eye. Send art. Now.
