Okay, i've got [card:118681f751]Savra, Queen of the Golgari[/card:118681f751] and a [card:118681f751]shambling shell[/card:118681f751] in play. I sacrifice the shambling shell to put a +1/+1 counter on Savra, and my opponent plays [card:118681f751]douse in gloom[/card:118681f751] on Savra in response to me sacrificing the shell. Does Savra's abilities still trigger, or, as he said, does she die before I supposedly sacrifice the shell, preventing the triggers from going off?
Use card tags people.

Tag 'em, buddy!
From what I understand: He can't respond to you sacraficing [card:6d56e0c8f6]Shambling Shell[/card:6d56e0c8f6] because you are paying a cost. He can respond to [card:6d56e0c8f6]Savra, Queen of the Golgari[/card:6d56e0c8f6]'s triggered ability and [card:6d56e0c8f6]Shambling Shell[/card:6d56e0c8f6]'s activated ability. Not sure what [card:6d56e0c8f6]Douse in Gloom[/card:6d56e0c8f6] does. Tag next time!
EDIT: Savra will die, but her abilities stay.

Alright, just checking. And I know I got the card wrong, I edited it after posting, but it got stealthmodedited back in.

oops, sorry about that. I always wondered what happened if a mod and a user edited a post at the same time. I'll edit it back.

Savra will die but he'll still have to sacrifice a creature.
Here's how it goes.
You play the Shell's ability. This involves sacrifing the Shell (paying the cost) and putting the ability on the stack.
The sacrifice triggers Savra's abilities, and they go on the stack as soon as they can, which is right after the Shell's ability goes on the stack.
TOP OF STACK
Savra's abilities (in the order of your choice; normally I would think you'd put the life gain on top but it usually won't matter)
Shell's ability
BOTTOM OF STACK
Then, before anything resolves, your opponent plays Douse (this is the very soonest he can play Douse after you played the Shell's ability).
TOP OF STACK
Douse in Gloom
Savra's abilities
Shell's ability
BOTTOM OF STACK
So then if no one does anything else, the stack resolves, top to bottom.
First the Douse resolves and kills Savra.
Then Savra's abilities resolve, giving and taking life and forcing your opponent to sacrifice.
Then the Shell's ability would resolve but it's target has become illegal (by leaving play), so the game rules counter it.
