Like the title says, this thread is to discuss ideas for new Skills/Traits to further expand the game system. Fire away forumites :)

Has anyone ever thought about a trait that allows you to re-flip coins?
Some kind of title luck "Gambler", "Lucky" or "Fortune". It might be fun to take all those cards that rely on coin-tosses and increase you chances of the desired outcome.
Not the best skill, but some red mages might like it.

I believe there are traits like that. Different names with different specifics if needed.

I have something similar for re-rolling dice for my casting of spells in Luther's Argariate.

Good stuff that.

This will most certainly be looked into. However, we must be careful to not simply turn it into a Krark's Thumb. How does this sound?

<Gambler>: For each point you place into this skill, you may choose to re-flip one coin. You can use this ability only once per coin-flip.

(I simply chose the name I liked best. If other people like a different name, feel free to speak your mind.)

I like the idea of only getting one re-flip per-game per-point, and only once per flip stops crazy power-up of cards like Stitch in Time, and the afor-mentioned Thumb. Also based on the currently posted colour-specific skills, red and black are somewhat lacking, and this is great for red.

I approve it, and the name is fine. After I'm done with my exams, I'll be posting a new character sheet that reflects the system changes.

Honestly, I think it should be red-blue - but, that's just me.

Well when it comes to finalising all the colour-specific skills and traits, it certainly could be put into blue. The only reason i was saying just red at the moment is that it's falling behind a little on numbers. Or, more to the point, white has far m:w:re than any other colour, as far as allocation of skills goes from that original post.

How about a monster abiklity that allowed you to make your opponent discards a card for each time you attack with that same creature, like
Creature attacked once discards 1 card
Creature attacked twice discards 2 cards
The name would be......Vicious Habit or Murderous Rage

*puts this information into a computing device (AKA: My Brain) ... ... ... spits out a small piece of paper*

Vicious Habit - Creatures you control with converted mana cost 4 or greater have, "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, that player discards a card."

You like?

An ability like the one your described would be rather difficult to keep track of in terms of an actual Magic game - without using counters of some kind, which I try to avoid.

I love counters
