-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Bobsterbeino vs. Oblivion
2-0 - One hell of an upset.
Game 1 - Bobsterbeino
An early Mutilate backed Bobster into a corner pretty quickly. After a slew of Harmonizes though and mana producing elves, Bobster bounced back and attacked ftw.
Game 2 - Bobsterbeino
Bobster SB'd Caller of the Claw against Mutilate, and it worked. Oblivion dropped a Phage the turn after and put Bobster on the defense. Afterwards, Oblivion's topdeck became Bobster's best friend and a Timberwatch Elf turned it back around. Epic Struggle wasn't even a factor...
ThunderHog vs. Battlemaster
2-1 - Almost only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades...
Game 1 - Battlemaster
With both players getting bad draws, the game was very slow and repeaditive. Battlemaster ever-so-slowly added counters to his Reactor with Coretappers until the game ended. (+1 point for alt-win)
Game 2 - ThunderHog
With 9 lands on the field, a Natural Affinity and a couple squirrel tokens just plowed BM's life total to zero. Nothing fancy here.
Game 3 - ThunderHog
An early pair of Sun Droplets made their presence known and quickly put the game on a softlock. After a slew of tokens just kept attacking and attacking, Sun Droplets just couldn't keep up. They both had 98 counters on them at the end of the game though. Epic Struggle almost won, but it was ONE creature short...
Dazboot vs. Wolverine
2-0 - Another upset in round 1...
Game 1 - Wolverine
Royal Assassin just so happens to be one of the best countermoves for Phage that I've ever seen. It was a pretty one-sided battle.
Game 2 - Wolverine
Turns out Royal Assassin also works well against Bridge from Below. All you need to have is a tapped creature and BfB's become almost useless. Royal Assassin gets the MVP award for this match. (+1 point for sweep)
GG Crono vs. AlasterEisaroh
2-0 - Trick coins indeed...
Game 1 - Alaster
Planar Choas pretty much held everything back in game 1. With a Krark's Thumb, Alaster didn't have much trouble playing spells but Crono sure did. Fiery Gambits also did some nasty beatings.
Game 2 - Alaster
With Crono at 59 life and going up, Alaster got lucky with a Screeching Sliver and happened to deter Crono from drawing a Test of Endurance. After dropping a pair of Planar Chaos with a thumb in play, Chance Encounter's numbers shot up pretty quickly. (+1 point for alt-win; +1 point for sweep)

I'm not playing TH for once! Truely something is wrong here! :p
I'm actually surprised that no Battle of Wits deck showed up... Ah well, onto the games!

I have a question for everyone - well, not everyone... Only to people who played black decks:
Why didn't you SB False Cure? It straight-up tears Test of Endurance to shreds, especially if placed upon an isochron scepter.
Bobsterbeino
11-08-2007, 10:06 PM
wow, that would.
AlasterEisaroh

If Rain of Gore Was a Hybrid card I would of SB'd it, but because it isn't I had to go without it :(
DazBoot
11-09-2007, 06:19 AM
Because it cost too much for my deck. If I was looking for a scepter target I would have played Trickbind on the scepter... That shuts out just about every win condition....

Shouldn't have hit that beehive. :D Anyway, I'm the one that's gotta worry about your Sun Droplets. Hehe. If I can avoid those, I should be fine. A. Vengeance might hurt a bit too. I think it's gonna be a good match.
Now, the real reason for this post...
NOTICE: Due to me having tonight and tomorrow night, results might take a few days to get in. Me and Crono are going the first round tonight though. Expect the results for that match within the hour. A couple will probably get done tomorrow as well. After tomorrow, what's left should come in pretty quickly. That's all for now!!!
P.S. - Bobster, just want you to know that I'm pullin' for ya!
EDIT: Seems I didn't have to pull for ya at all...
Bobsterbeino
11-09-2007, 06:43 PM
Haha, I'm pulling for me too, and even though this deck isn't supposed to gain life... I got to over 300 in testing.
So it might do okay.

ThunderHog vs. Bobsterbeino
2-0 - Elves have a bug problem...
Game 1 - ThunderHog
The game was rather dull and boring until it got towards the end. Both players had Epic Struggle out with twenty creatures on the field at least once, but by the time their upkeep rolled around their conditions weren’t fulfilled anymore (Bobster destroyed the Struggles using Elvish Lyrist, ThunderHog mass attacked with tons of tokens to force Bobster to block some, killing some of his creatures in the process). In the end, ThunderHog’s massive creature numbers overwhelmed Bobsterbeino. This game was so close to being decided by alt-win, it just didn’t get there.
Game 2 - ThunderHog
A pair of Doubling Seasons followed by a pair of Beacons gave TH 48 Insect tokens. After that, an Epic Struggle recollected from the grave came to the field on won. (+1 point for sweep; +1 point for alt-win)
AlasterEisaroh vs. Wolverine
2-1 - This round’s just full of em’!
Game 1 - Wolverine
Early aggro put Alaster down to eight, but the Bottled Cloister + Ensnaring Bridge combo halted that. Alaster’s Chance Encounter had ten luck counters, but Wolverine lucky-drew into a second Kokusho, playing it and the Legend rule took over from there.
Game 2 - Alaster
This game was ALL Ensnaring Bridge. Alaster was LITERALLY at ONE life when the game ended. It stalled long enough for a pair of Frenetic Slivers to put enough counters on Chance Encounter. (+1 point for alt-win)
Game 3 - Wolverine
With three Doomed Necromancers (which he quickly drew into a fourth), an early beating put Alaster down a little bit. Bad coin flips and a pair of Kokusho’s had Wolverine drilling down Alaster a third time.

Eww... No Standard. Yuck! All rounds are going to be extended. I MIGHT so a Legacy one, but I doubt it. If I did, I would have to make a theme that takes every power deck out of Legacy, and that's hard since Legacy has many different ones.

Well I was using a deck based on "Luck" something I don't have, and then Wolverine got a Lucky break with his top deck in the first game. Oh well I lost, but why do I always have bad luck against Wolverine?

I was tempted to play a chance encounter deck, but I was having all sorts of trouble pullit it together...
Just a general comment on this round, I think it should have been a little more focused on the theme, seeing as only 4 games were won by alt-win... Don't get me wrong, I don't mean for that to sound like anything was a mistake, and after thinking of it I couldn't think of a much better way to do it this round, but I just think it's something that we should think about for future rounds.
Can't wait for the next one!! :)
AlasterEisaroh
11-14-2007, 06:05 PM
If we had to win with our Alt-Win cards, I would still be in this, because of the way I designed my deck its most relieable win condition was the CE's.
Also the points possible in this round are Insane.
You can get a max of 6 points first round(1 for entrance, 1 for each win, 1 for each Alt-Win, and 1 for a sweep), a max of 5 in round two and three(1 for each win, 1 for each Alt-Win, and 1 for a sweep), and 5 more for winning, that's a total of 21 points (add 5 for each round extra if we had 16+ people).

ThunderHog vs. Wolverine
2-0 - The Wolverine is zapped a second time...
Game 1 - ThunderHog
A Stromgald Crusader and it’s flying ability dealt some nasty damage to ThunderHog early on. An Essence Warden staved him off for a bit, but when TH got down to 4 life, it was go time. With eleven lands on the field, a Natural Affinity put Wolverine in an ambush. It was a ‘go for the gusto’ win.
Game 2 - ThunderHog
Alas, a one-sided game. Two early Essence Wardens granted quick life. After some quick mana-accel and THREE Doubling Seasons, a Beacon of Creations sealed the deal. Not only did ThunderHog have over 64 creatures on the board at that moment, but also gained 128 life. (+1 point for alt-win; +1 point for sweep)

Because of one Lucky Draw I got eliminated, but what really pisses me off is that fact I could of Sweeped the whole tourny.
Hey how about adding that as an additional points bonus, like if you sweep the whole tounament you get an extra 2 point (5 with the other points from the sweeped rounds).
ThunderHog
11-16-2007, 02:10 AM
If you sweep the whole tourney, you probably won't need the extra points. You should probably shoot straight up to the top of the leader board. I think the point ruling are pretty well-set. I don't think I'll need to change them further unless a round calls for it. So far, there are no such rounds in existence.
