Current Point standings:
Battlemaster: 13
Wolverine: 6
AlasterEisaroh: 4
Dazboot: 3
Cashew: 2
ThunderHog: 2
GG Crono: 2
Bobsterbeino: 1

Here are the current participants for this round, listed in the order their decks were submitted:

- ThunderHog
- GG Crono
- Battlemaster
- Bobsterbeino
- Oblivion
- AlasterEisaroh
- Wolverine
- Dazboot

Same as last time, dice rolls will be used to determine who squares off against who in the first round. This time though, instead of risking getting the same number as someone else, whenever a spot is taken up the dice used will be reduced by one - thus, making it impossible for anyone to be assigned to the same spot. With that said, let the rolling begin!!!

First up, me:
8
GG Crono, your turn!!
7
Battlemaster, the time is now!!!
6
The first match is set. Battlemaster, last round's winner vs. GG Crono!

Anyway, your turn Bobsterbeino.
5[
Whoops... TYPO!!! Let's try that one again...
5
Oblivion, the round's newbie! let's see where he goes.
4
Second match, set. Oblivion vs. Bobsterbeino!

Alaster, your roll.
3
Last roll!!! Wolverine, where ya goin'?!?!
2

Well, there ya go! Everyone is placed!

On a personal note, Dazboot... I will NOT let you beat me again! XD

Bobsterbeino vs. Oblivion
2-0 - Oblivion strikes out the unlucky one...
Game 1 - Oblivion
The burn spells of the deck tipped the scales in oblivion’s favor. It was a very good game - very close, all the way.
Game 2 - Oblivion
Bobsterbeino had to mulligan down to four. That, plus the fact that Oblivion got an early Loxodon Warhammer led to a quick demise...
Battlemaster vs. GG Crono
2-1 - GG Crono knocks off last round’s champ in round 1
Game 1 - Battlemaster
An early-game Circu put GG Crono in a corner from a early start. Crono ALMOST made a comeback, but just didn’t have enough time.
Game 2 - GG Crono
Both decks did exactly what they were meant to do. Crono had 5 cards in his library when the game ended.
Game 3 - GG Crono
Battlemaster did as well as he possibly could, but got mana screwed. Sadly, it was a one-sided game.
Alaster vs. Wolverine
2-1 - Wolverine slashes through the Dimir
Game 1 - Wolverine
Aggro vs. Strategy - Both did well, Aggro went faster.
Game 2 - Alaster
First, a Traumatize for 24 cards. Two turns latter, Glimpse the Unthinkable + Twincast. That’s an ‘ouch’ and a half.
Game 3 - Wolverine
VERY close game. Each side had constant answers for what the other side did. Counterspells for Alaster, burn spells for Wolverine. It was a clash back and forth, but Wolverine’s creatures proved to be too much.
ThunderHog vs. Dazboot
2-0 - Revenge is best served cold...
Game 1 - ThunderHog
An early Soul Warden put Dazboot on his heals, but it’s the two Devouring Light’s that put the nail in the coffin, targeting an Avatar of Discord and a Rakdos Guildmage.
Game 2 - ThunderHog
A second-turn Rain of Gore, sb’d in put ME on my heals. Despite the life loss, Loxodon Hierarch still came to the field, only to be Terror’d two turns later. After a close game, Rain of Gore was overcome by Guildmages and saproling tokens.

ya i knew i didn't put enough mana in that deck :(
oh well didn't think a dimir deck was gonna win ne way good luck crono.

ThunderHog
10-15-2007, 10:52 AM
Funny thing, the deck DID have enough mana. It had plenty - it's just that MWS likes to screw people over every once in awhile. That's alright though, things like that happen. Better luck next round!

Bobsterbeino
10-15-2007, 11:15 AM
Aww, I lost first round again. Oh well.

ThunderHog
10-15-2007, 11:25 AM
Which is why I put "The Unlucky One". Better luck next time... If it makes you feel any better, I was rooting for it to win at least a couple games but it just didn't happen.

Bobsterbeino

Haha, No worries.

Yeah, I'll spend alot more time on my deck next time.

ThunderHog

I am pretty sure I sent A name with me deck :paranoid:

So you did... I'll change that in just a bit.

*edits second post again* Getting things done, slowly but surely.

DazBoot

Okay now, this is just cruel... you do everyone's games but ours and just leave me in suspense... :p

ThunderHog
10-17-2007, 01:46 AM
That's cuz ours just ended up being last. Trust me, I really wanna do it too. I have the day off from work today, so I should be able to get a good chunk of it done throughout the day.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
3. Wolverine - Wolverine's Purification
vs.
4. ThunderHog - Unity of the Conclave
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Oblivion vs. GG Crono
2-0 - Oblivion
Game 1 - Oblivion
Oblivion took an early command of the game. Crono made an annoyance by using basic Orzhov tactics like Blind Hunter and Ghost Council and nearly made a comeback, Oblivion’s burn spells just seemed to do the trick a second time.
Game 2 - Oblivion
Burn spells to the rescue - again... This time, Shroud creatures prevented Crono’s Pillory of the Sleepless for being very effective.

ThunderHog vs. Wolverine
2-1 - One animal tames another...
Game 1 - Wolverine
ThunderHog had command of the game from an early start, but a Brightflame ruined that as it wiped out EVERY creature on the board. After that, it was all Wolverine.
Game 2 - ThunderHog
Both decks did exactly what they were meant to do. Glare of Subdual just seemed to have tipped the scales a bit too much.
Game 3 - ThunderHog
An early Glare of Subdual + Seed Spark (targeting a Signet) made a quick lock while stalling mana. A couple Scatter the Seeds and Devouring Lights later and it was just a beating.

DazBoot

Gah... I was hopping the Pyroclasms would have been enough against those annoying saprolings... Ah well... I suppose it's 1 match apiece... We will meet again TH!

Edit: Depends on if TH can stick a Glare, and if Crono is running pyroclasm/enchantment destruction... We'll see...

Bobsterbeino

Oblivion

When will it be TH?

ThunderHog

ASAP. Probably sometime today, hopefully. If not, then certainly tomorrow.

ThunderHog vs. Oblivion
2-1 - Mindless Savages, or Strength of Unity?
Game 1 - ThunderHog
An early Hour of Reckoning wiped out a good number of Oblivion’s creatures. A couple turns later, a second Hour of Reckoning did it again. Next turn Leyline of the Meek finished the game.
Game 2 - Oblivion
An early Manabarbs made it’s presence known. It won the game along with a Giant Solfuge.
Game 3 - Oblivion
A lucky draw into a Naturalize took out a Glare leading to a win.

***CONGRATULATIONS OBLIVION***

In your first round here at HoC you took the whole thing!

Why you lost the game ThunderHog? Because I'm gonna send a private message to you, because maybe, I'll give you a hint.

To Oblivion: Congratulations, if I build my deck that can make me feel better in the tournament if I send it to ThunderHog, if you face me in the next tournament, I hope my luck won't gonna get mana screwed this time.

WOOTNESS!!! GruulFTW!!!

Well, this certainly makes for my missing the first round altogether (which I probably wouldn't have won anyway)

Well time for the next one :D

ThunderHog
10-19-2007, 01:22 AM
The next one will be put up in a few days. I already have it all planned out, but I need a break. All this work is somewhat tiring. Expect round 3 to be posted during the weekend. Saturday or Sunday - Monday at the LATEST.

Oblivion

*in a pleading, whiny voice* Any hints on what to expect, teacher? Please be nice? *makes puppy eyes*

ThunderHog
10-19-2007, 01:49 AM
Haha! Expect to have to be creative. Meta-gaming is going to be VERY important in round 3.

Oblivion
10-19-2007, 01:58 AM
Hmmmm....I predict....either creatureless or pauper style!

Anyway, I would seriously like you to consider a sealed deck tournament-style round, using MWS. I think it would be very suitable considering that we now have a Limited Section on the forum...makes things more relevant

ThunderHog
10-19-2007, 11:16 AM
That would be difficult to do without actually using real cards. I know how to use the Sealed Deck tool, but how would I know that people were completely honest in making their deck?

As a hint though, your predictions are wrong but those will be two FUTURE rounds. Because I'm a mean person I will probably be putting a little twist on each of them, so don't go making your decks now, cuz if you do they might not fit the theme... That would be rather disappointing.
