Thinking about posting a FAQ for MDV

I am thinking about puting up a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Page on MDV to answer some basic questions about it.

Do you think this is a good idea?

What kind of questions would you expect to see?

Here's a brief list of questions I can think of ... off the top of my head:

What is Magic Deck Vortex?
How do I contact the webmaster?
How do I submit a deck to the deck database?
How do I submit a combo for your combo pages?
How do I submit an article to MDV?
What kinds of things will I find in the Features section?
Is this website affiliated with Wizards?
Is MDV a fan site?
What are the deck ratings? What do they mean?
What are the deck categories all about?
What is magic: the gathering?
How long has MDV been around?
How do I join the forum?
How do I register in the forum if the confirmation email never arrived?

That's just a few...

Is this a good idea? Is it stupid? Let me know.

It's definitely not a stupid idea.

If it is formatted nicely, and put in a place that many people can find it (I would recommend a spot near the top of the main page.), then I think it would be very helpful. I know when I first came to MDV, I didn't think the site was for real. It just seemed like a place where a few Magic geeks hung out (No offense to anyone who was members at that time). It didn't seem to give the warmest welcome and it felt as if it was kind of outdated. Those are just my thoughts, and again, no offense to Streetz or any of the moderators of the site.

But I think if the FAQ told a lot about the site, people would be more in-tune with what MDV is all about. I might also include things like...


Is this a good site to come to during rumor season?
How often is this site updated normally?
What are some of the current themes discussed in your articles?
How large is your community of members/guests?
What are some of the most popular events on your site/forums?


Overall, it sounds like a very nice idea to me. :P

Definitely a worthwhile endeavor. It will help many people unfamiliar with the site.
