Saw Mafia (Mafia 12) - Game Over - Mafia Win

[Cashew]

Darkness creeps into your eyes as you open. A thick disgusting darkness that seems to steal every inch of light. As your eyes slowly adjust you notice that all around you are walls - and no doors or windows. Looking upward you see can barely make the edge of the walls out easily 15 feet above you.

It's then that a flicker of light appears on a single screen in the middle of the room. Quickly illuminating the room and only momentairly blinding you, you make out that your initial assessment was correct - you are trapped. You also notice a keyboard. Taking they keyboard you notice a video start to play on the screen as a creepy little doll on a tricycle wheels onto the screen.

"Hello, would you like to play a game?"

Each of you listens to the personal message as the video fades out to reveal a simple list of rules:

1) Every day at least one person will die. If no is lynched a person will be chosen at random from those with votes remaining on them. If no one is voted for at all, it will be at random from those still alive.
2) Every night at least one person will die.
3) Roles have been sent. Play your role as themed as you want. Know there is a standard mafia and a standard town. The rest is unknown. If you have any questions on your roles please ask me, I may not respond. That is the nature of Saw you will not know everything. There is always a twist. I did clearly mark our 2 new players roles in an effort to be nice.
4) Days shall last 6 real life days MAXIMUM.
5) Nights shall last 2 real life days FIRM. If your night post isn't in before day hits guess what you squandered your power. No givesies, no take backs.
6) Votes will not be tallied until 3am EST every night. That also means they do not count until that time either. There is ample time to unvote.
7) Major Actions must be bolded to count. That mans Vote: Cashew counts. Vote: Cashew does not count.
8) There is no editting of threads. Choose your words as carefully as you would your life.
9) If you have a power it is clearly listed. With the exception of the mafia who I assume know their roles power. If not I'll spell it out. You can go direct with other Mafia members (who have been made known to you) at night. You all must get together and vote for one person send it to me. If you manage to not send me a vote in time, it'll be one of your bloods that spill at random.
10) Double posting is fine. Keep it to a min though.
11) To reiterate other sources as well:
- Don't quote my private messages to you, unless I tell you to.
- Don't discuss the game outside of the game thread unless I tell you you can.
- I will replace inactive people or cause an untimely death. If you're not watching this thread for a week at a time you joined the wrong game. Prepare to be swept out fast.
- One "Bah" post after death. Then you're done. Toodles. Goodbye.

But you can't win just by that so I have to wheedle out the bad guys... By putting up pressure. In most cases I put out a pressure vote and see what they respond to it. sometimes its an FoS, sometimes I just mention their name.

As to my "reaction" to Kozy's statement damn right I Didn't got it, Didn't overreact. We have like 5 days now before you mafia get an easy ticket through day one. As town this is the most important part of the game. Having two townies die right at the start is not only bad for us but very demoralizing.

so I have like 3 days to find a scum and get the rest of you guys to agree with me. Pardon me if I seem aggressive or whatnot...

Heres the skinny, this game is rigged in the mafia's favor... All they have to do is sit back and be there and in 6 days BAM! A towny dies... Yeah 8 out of 11 town.. thats... 73ish% chance one of us gets killed. So yeah I'm moving fast. I'm jumping on every scummy thing I see. Two bandwagons on me just shows that the rest of you are morons and don't get how important right now is.

The only chance we have is to get a lynch before time runs out, at least then WE are in control of who dies, and we can at least try to take out a badie.

So... now that I have officially had the first rant of the game (Go me!) I'll at least get my word in before the mafia have a field day with it...

A) The mafia arn't going to seem suspicious this game. They are just going to sit there, jump on any easy votes they can, and ride it out until the deadline. That way they get an easy town kill without any blame on them at all.

B) The active players are the most important. Anyone who hasn't posted yet, or has only posted once is as good as the mafia. Without their votes we can't lynch, we can't lynch and mafia gets easy town kill, as soon as they kill off the two most active townies its game over.

C) The town cannot play like town. This seems weird... but its true. This is a topsy-turvy game. Mafia will play like town so we have to play like them. What do I mean? I mean we have to play scummy! Twist words, come up with theories fast, jump on anyone who seems like scum fast. Post often is very important. Check in as often as you can and if anyone has posted anything since you last checked you need to say something. Even if its only "I agree" Or "That seems logical..." Or "He strikes me as scum!" Also vote switching isn't a bad thing. It puts pressure on many people fast. So don't assume that someone is mafia because they have voted for 3 different people in an hour.

D) FoS's are worthless, accusations without votes are worthless, and being at any time not voting is worthless... If you are without a vote then Your keeping us from a lynch. 3 mafia, 4 inactive, that leaves 4 of us. Not enough for a vote.(Unless we get lucky and the inactives are the mafia! *Crosses fingers*)Note that the more people with votes the more likely a town dies when the deadline comes. So do keep the number of people with votes to a min.

Alright now I see myself getting lynched here... I have a strong feeling I already have two mafia on my case and I know I sound bad here. But you guys have to get this through your head if we have any chance of winning. So take what you want out of this, I know I'm right...

And for all you know I do have something to hide... With 11 players I could be a power role... Or I could be a vanilla townie trying to draw a night kill off of the actual roles. I could be mafia.... although I wouldn't be playing the game like this... This is way to outright suspicious... Mafia wouldn't want to attract votes because of the deadline thing... If the deadline comes and they have a vote on them then their up for a kill. So what do they do, they either vote against their attacker in retribution with the simple "He seems suspicious" routine, or they tack onto another town who already has a vote on them. Theres your first bad guy. Remember this after you kill me off and see I was telling the truth.

He's also inexperienced :/ newbs have a higher chance of freaking out over nothing, because they don't want to die. To all you newbie townspeople, keep this in mind - your life is not worth as much as that of scum. If a townie is sacrificed to get a scum, town's in the lead, simply because there aren't as many scum - and if they know this, they may over-react to death threats...


Also... I saw him online today actually viewing the thread and he didn't even post anything... so I think that qualifies as lurking...

In the end, he smashed his computer and slit his wrists with a shard of plastic. Can't say I blame him, if I was as patethic as him I'd have killed myself too.

You want to know my reasoning SK. You were acting suspicious all game. Everyone saw it. But the only one who stood up for you (for no good reason, i might add) was wolverine. So my feeling is that you're both mafia. It is the mafia's job to work together. and at first round there's no good logic so no one would catch on.

SK has been posting alot this game, and ergo has put alot of suspicion on himself. I find that a bit suspicious because of all the changing of his votes, but then again why would a mafia member post so much and draw so much suspicion to himself as Sk did? Curious.

CJS has been choosing his votes "randomly" of which they very well may be random, or he could be a power role or he could be mafia, and is just choosing his votes "randomly" in order to make it seem that there is no real logic to his vote...

Mal and Kozy seem to be adament on going after SK. Now granted Sk has given them some good reasons for them to do so, it seems they rarely consider anyone else as Mafia. And therefore this may be seen as two mafia members focusing on a person in order to take suspicion off themselves.

I did find it a bit odd that Wolverine was so quick to defend Sk without giving a real reason why. This could be seen as two mafia members working together. I don't know.

Then there are inactives like Fry, Tekk...etc who may be mafias who are just not posting or may be just people who don't know the commitment needed to play a mafia game. Only time will tell.

The best bet to actually go with would be Kozy, even though we still have those dang inactive players. From what I've gathered I know two other things information wise. In the role-playing area, for Quest Leaders, Tekk was telling Stolin how they were still trying to find someone, since everyone in the Deckmechs were busy, which I think that would include him as well. Sk honestly can't be mafia, for a few reasons, 1: Mafia wouldn't post like that in a time limit mafia. They would post rarely to never as everyone has already said. 2: He honestly doesn't have that much to do right now, Game-wise his computer can't play his new Bioshock, he doesn't want to write anything new, and besides Little Sk he is trying to get a Job, which he should be having his interview in an hour. So he really doesn't have much else he is doing right now, it makes sense he's trying to win, he registered on Mafia Scum so he's interested in playing. So with all this aside I'm 100% sure Sk isn't Town, Tekk is just busy which is why I think he isn't posting anyone on MDV, if he is then he'd be mafia but I am pretty sure he hasn't.

Kozy's arguments really don't help, and from what has been going on Kozy will not help us win this.

... That logic is so false it doesn't even make sense.. The whole point of mafia is to separate your team from the others and at the same time not giving yourself away and/or trying to blend in. In most cases the only way to read people is by what they post.

Heres the skinny, this game is rigged in the mafia's favor... All they have to do is sit back and be there and in 6 days BAM! A towny dies... Yeah 8 out of 11 town.. thats... 73ish% chance one of us gets killed. So yeah I'm moving fast. I'm jumping on every scummy thing I see. Two bandwagons on me just shows that the rest of you are morons and don't get how important right now is.

The only chance we have is to get a lynch before time runs out, at least then WE are in control of who dies, and we can at least try to take out a badie.

A) The mafia arn't going to seem suspicious this game. They are just going to sit there, jump on any easy votes they can, and ride it out until the deadline. That way they get an easy town kill without any blame on them at all.

B) The active players are the most important. Anyone who hasn't posted yet, or has only posted once is as good as the mafia. Without their votes we can't lynch, we can't lynch and mafia gets easy town kill, as soon as they kill off the two most active townies its game over.

C) The town cannot play like town. This seems weird... but its true. This is a topsy-turvy game. Mafia will play like town so we have to play like them. What do I mean? I mean we have to play scummy! Twist words, come up with theories fast, jump on anyone who seems like scum fast. Post often is very important. Check in as often as you can and if anyone has posted anything since you last checked you need to say something. Even if its only "I agree" Or "That seems logical..." Or "He strikes me as scum!" Also vote switching isn't a bad thing. It puts pressure on many people fast. So don't assume that someone is mafia because they have voted for 3 different people in an hour.

D) FoS's are worthless, accusations without votes are worthless, and being at any time not voting is worthless... If you are without a vote then Your keeping us from a lynch. 3 mafia, 4 inactive, that leaves 4 of us. Not enough for a vote.(Unless we get lucky and the inactives are the mafia! *Crosses fingers*)Note that the more people with votes the more likely a town dies when the deadline comes. So do keep the number of people with votes to a min.

Fry on the other hand did just what I would excpect a mafia to do in this situation, they get a vote on them and begin to panic. So what do they do, they either vote against their attacker in retribution with the simple "He seems suspicious" routine, or they tack onto another town who already has a vote on them. well having just gone over my votes... I see one vote against Kozy that you could call retaliation... Even though I gave what i think as a good reason... The best bet to actually go with would be Kozy, even though we still have those dang inactive players. From what I've gathered I know two other things information wise. In the role-playing area, for Quest Leaders, Tekk was telling Stolin how they were still trying to find someone, since everyone in the Deckmechs were busy, which I think that would include him as well. Sk honestly can't be mafia, for a few reasons, 1: Mafia wouldn't post like that in a time limit mafia. They would post rarely to never as everyone has already said. 2: He honestly doesn't have that much to do right now, Game-wise his computer can't play his new Bioshock, he doesn't want to write anything new, and besides Little Sk he is trying to get a Job, which he should be having his interview in an hour. So he really doesn't have much else he is doing right now, it makes sense he's trying to win, he registered on Mafia Scum so he's interested in playing. So with all this aside I'm 100% sure Sk isn't Town, Tekk is just busy which is why I think he isn't posting anyone on MDV, if he is then he'd be mafia but I am pretty sure he hasn't.

Kozy's arguments really don't help, and from what has been going on Kozy will not help us win this.

Well two good things come of this... The lynch vote is raised to 5 instead of 4... This is very good because if it was 4 it would only take one towny to vote randomly and then the mafia hammer and we lose... Luckily that is no longer the case.. I know in all the games I've played night-kills weren't as thought out as most assume they are. (And trust me, I've been mafia more times than I can count.)

Usually the mafia just go for a townie of medium skill. You don't hit a star player, because letting him live increases doubt. You don't hit a scrub, because it wouldn't help to protect you. Mafia also usually go for someone who consistently focused on a single player.

Assuming the mafia followed this stereotypical model, Sk and MZ are both off the radar.

Ok So I guess I should start by stating that I don't really have information about the game(like given to me info), but more on just how people are trying to play this game.

Now WoW...I mean eliminating mal just throw me off completly. I mean whoever decided to take take out mal and convinced the mafia to take out mal was really smart (or just had some good dumb luck in who they chose) because I think that was the best person they could of taken out(in terms of having to make us think why and who would).

Another thing that popped in my head while I was thinking about this earlier is well just plain out like this. Ok in the first day when kozy voted for SK and then changed his vote to me could be because he was seeing how many people would agree with him and then when no one really did he changed back to his origanal* choice of Sk since it would be the easist* to argue why he did it (if that make sense to anyone else). FOS: KOZY Now I wouldn't try to lynch him just yet since if he is a townie so many people are looking at him right now and mafia could jump on that and blend in, so rather let him discuss the situation.

Mal's death is something I kinda and didn't expect for a R1 Night kill, really besides the fact that most likely indites me I feel none the wiser and thankful it's not me.

I voted for CJS because he was active but not contributing, even when discussion actually arose.

I'm not answering that.

It depends on whether he was a strong or weak cop. If his ability was limited to investigation we lost a useful, but not critical tool. If he was vigilante, then he had an equal chance helping and hurting us. Given that he probably would have stayed in character, knowing CJS, I don't think dice-roll kills would have been all that beneficial.

I made a mistake. (It should be noted that the kill was random. CJS' death was not a lynch, and I most certainly didn't spearhead it.)

For today I think a good candidate to keep an eye on would be Fry, Oblivion, and Wolfie, since they're the ones we know the least about. I'm willing to admit that you should include me in that category.

But that's the problem. I don't want to trust you. Because if I am to trust you and then I'm killed on night two I will know that i shouldn't have trusted you. Easily.

Anyway, I have heard that this is your first mafia? If so, you are the first "gung-ho" player I've seen. I myself was rather quiet on my first mafia, as was Wolverine and a few other newbies. Most of the time, we wander around looking lost and basically bumbling about.....you however seem to be an exception.

I generally am not the kind of person to be posting 100 times in a Day like SK does. This is just not my style. However, I WILL contribute when necessary.

Ok a vig refers to a vigilantee. A pro town player who gets the option of killing a person off at night. He wins when the town wins.

Noramlly a Vig wont not kill. Thus I can only assume its you because you wern't here. But, theres a good chance that its someone else, who either A) Didnt have the option last ngiht, or B) chose not to kill. Then again it could be something else. Right now its jsut a small piece of evidence to help you out.
