Well, I'll post the first page of a story I've been working on for some time. This page is like an introduction so I hope you peeps like it.

Chapter I

“The time will come. Legends are to be reborn in this Earth. Legends that will rejuvenate this decaying land. (sigh) This kingdom, this world… This realm will collapse entirely with a whisper of the dark gods”

A man paced in his room. He was rather pale and tall, a look of great wisdom in his eyes. The man seemed mature of age, as he had lived for ages; not decades. Yes, the man was mysterious. His lips spoke of prophecies, truths, reality, wisdom, and death. One could say he resembled the Maker. The maker of our realm. A realm, not of kingdom, but as in the realm of the mortals. Of course, I refer to him as a God… As Slatos. Slatos is the name of this… creator. And the name of this sage, I will not yet reveal. However, I can tell you, that he is very powerful. Ujum, very powerful indeed. This man can take a legion of dragons and banish them into the depths of the last dimension. So powerful that he could bring the dead back to life and exile them from the living in the blink of an eye. OHO! This might sound like a fairy tale, but he is very real. The prophet is more real than the spirits we worship, Ah, haha; I’m getting carried away with details! Let’s get on with the prophet.

(The prophet walks to a chair and sits down staring at the ceiling)

“What shall the living do? All unaware of the incoming destruction. Jealousy of the immortal… shall be the downfall of the mortals. Elves, dwarves, humans, merfolks, dragons, every race are to be erased from existence. The humans will never realize what fate has in store for them. They are too shallow… Perhaps not all, but many are. Many are drowned in their own wealth and ego… (sigh) It is pathetic. Not to mention their ignorance. I’m afraid; the legends are our only hope”

(The prophet slumps down on his chair and falls asleep)

Yes, a prophet. One of the most sagacious of them all. Fights when the time is right, and never runs. Powerful, he was simply powerful, meanwhile, in the other side of the world at the continent of Blue Ridge one of the legends was just a newborn. At the small wizard city of Sonesia. Ha, he was such an energetic fellow. His name was Grados Minia. Grados had been born with black hair and gray eyes; eyes that were soon to change. You see, wizards and mages, as the come of age, their eye color tends to change depending on their specialized element. Wind users have green eyes, whereas water users have blue eyes, dark magic users have black eyes, light magic changes eye color to white, fire changes eyes to red, and earth makes brown. And of course, those who combine elements also they have combined eye colors. Let’s take the most popular combination of eye color, black/white. Black/white is especially seen in those that use light and dark magic. Not to mention it’s loved by women in the wizard/mage world. Trust me, you have black/white eyes, you are bound to have 10 chicks on you. Not to leave out the women, if a girl has water/green eyes, she is sure to have 10 more guys around. Let me see if I can remember why the eyes change… ummm… Ah! Ok, I remember now, supposedly the mana from the specialized attributes (wind, water, earth, fire, dark, light, in case you didn’t know) is the cause of such phenomenon. Well, back to dear old Grados ^__^ . His parents were hard workers, his mom, Loria Blackletter, was a teacher of Magic History and his father, Cryton Minia, was an economic and war advisor for Sones Castem III. Sones Castem III is the governor of the city and dear grandson of the founder of Sonesia. The founder’s name is also Sones Castem. Now, Sones Castem III is relative of Soner Castem III which is the governor of Soneria. Soneria was founded by Soner’s grandfather who is also named as Soner Castem. (phew) It’s really a big family I must admit. All of its members had made a contribution to magic. The Castem family is one of the largest in the world, they are practically larger than the population of goblins living in the Dragoon Mountains - just in case, the Dragoon Mountain is in some other continent ^__^; - (sigh) And again I’m drifting away from the main story again. I’ll just continue.

As I was saying, tiny Grados Minia, came from an accomplished family. He was very proud of the life he led. A life of joy and love. He grew to be handsome, valiant, energetic, and most importantly, he was always smiling no matter how tough situations got. Amazing child, never let his humor fade even when his parents were killed. Ah! Ooops. That was meant for dramatization! Oh well…

[Edit: Continuation] ------------ Second Part------------------------

Indeed, his parents were victims of a terrible fate. Loria Blacketter suffered from a kind of sickness in which the mind is rendered useless… How can I explain? Uh… Ummm… Well, her mind slowly decayed, started to bleed and a… ah… this is rather hard. She suffered from a mind implosion. Yes, her mind exploded inside out. It is a natural occurrence amongst magic users really; even elves. Alchemist -those who study all components of magic- have stated that this sickness is caused by excess storage of manna into one body or in this case… the brain. This sickness was named “Milw Znod” or mind-blow. Milw Zond was derived from the ancient language Nagixia. It was a language spoken by the gods of old. That was soon to be partially forgotten. I sound more like a history teacher than a storyteller, so now I shall explain what happened toCryton Minia, Grados’ father.

How do I start? (ponders) Ok… Cryton Minia was assassinated. To make matters worse, he was killed in front of young Grados. Traumatizing event, I admit. Cryton’s throat was slit, blood spilled endlessly. They were together, Grados and Cryton, just weeks after Loria’s death. They had just finished paying their respects and they sat at a cliff overlooking the city and the never-ending ocean, its waves crashed against the west shores of Sonesia. The sky was as bright and clear as ever. It was rather cool and the sweet breeze caressed their skins. That day, Grados had the best talk in weeks with his father.

(Cryton looked to the sea and puts his hand on his son’s shoulder)

“Grados… My son and blood, I’m sorry for what happened to your mother”

(Grados, as always, smiled)

“No worries. It wasn’t your fault”

(Cryton smirks as he continues to look forward)

“I know, but… (sigh)”.

(Grados looks at his father)

“Dad, no need to be hard on yourself. Trust me, nothing’s gonna change”

(Cryton smiles proud of his son’s words)

“Hahaha, inspiring words from a 17 year-old. So, look at who the father is now”

“Yes, well I’m not a normal 17 year-old. I bet you wish all the others were like me”

(Grados said jokingly)

“Hohohoho, you are so modest, child!”

“Haha, Yep, you betcha!”

“Grados, to tell you the truth, I’m proud of you. I’m proud of how you were able to stay in one piece instead of crumbling like many others of your age do”

(Grados blushed)

“Ah… thanks dad. I just know mom’s alright”

(Cryton raised his eyebrows at this quote and jokingly says)

“Ooooh, we have a sage in the family! Haha!”

“Haha, come on, you know it’s not like that”
“Yeah, yeah”

-------------------------------------------Third Part------------------------------

As you can see, they were both very close; they shared a bond not seen very much between other father/sons. I must say, family tragedies often brings its members closer together too, but they were always this close. Grados and Cryton admired each other. Cryton admired his son’s humor and strong will and Grados admired his father’s charm with the ladies and his great swordsmanship. Cryton was an exceptional swordfighter. He could predict his opponent’s movement before it was even thought of. Of course, I might be exaggerating, but that does not change the fact that he was almost the best swordsman ever known. This is why he was a war advisor. The man could see the enemy’s movement way before they decided to even attack. And no, he was not a psychic or a seer, Cryton just believed in the old saying, “Expect the unexpected”. Many would squirm upon hearing this statement, but Cryton knew exactly how to use that saying. I bet you are wondering how he got killed if he was so amazing. Well, that’s when a little thing called irony comes in. Ok, let’s see… Thing is that, Grados’ father’s skills work only when he is focused on his target. So… in this case, he was surprised. You might ask - How can an expert be surprised? - The answer is pretty simple - Expert swordsmen are not GODS! - and besides an assassin killed him, and assassins can be really sneaky when it comes to killing. So, technically, the murderer crept behind him, and <SLASH> Cryton’s neck is slit. It all went like this: Grados looked at his father and suddenly he caught a small glimpse of the killer and shouted -WATCH OUT!-, but it was too late, the assassin had already put the knife on Cryton’s neck and cut it as if the neck was made of up… umm… uh… Made up of… Argh, I’m really bad with analogies… Got it! As if the neck was made up of CHEESE! I know, I know, pretty bad, but it’s my analogy and I’m proud. So, anyways, Cryton’s blood splattered and even as soon as the man fell to the ground, it continued to pour scattering through the moistening soil. The assassin then jumped from the cliff turned around to face the rocky cliff wall and stab the wall with his knife, eventually stopping his free fall. After that, he began to slowly descend as the panicked Grados began to mutter a spell…

(Grados was standing on the edge of the cliff with his eyes closed, and hands together)

“By the name of the light gods, grant me thy power to banish the evil from our blessed land
- NITSG OV SOKE!!-”

And then, suddenly, the creeping clouds parted and a ray of searing light shot out of the heavens crashing against the killer’s face which deteriorated an eye and an ear and burned off half the face. As the light hit the man, he lost grip of the bloody knife and fell cursing the child. You might wonder what Grados’ spell was called, and I’ll be glad to tell you; Nitsg ov Soke, means Light of Hope, as you might’ve guessed it is Nagixia.

After the whole incident, Grados had killed the assassin and miraculously his father was still breathing, although almost impossible.

(Grados kneeled before his father and lifted him carefully)

“Father, please… PLEASE, not you too! PLEASE!! DON’T GO!!”

(Cryton tried to open his eyes once more before his complete demise)

“Gra… Grados… Let me… (coughs, but with blood) Let me see…”

(Grados leaned closer to his dad knowing what he wished to say)

“Don’t talk dad. (sobs) Don’t. I’m here”

(Grados said with a shaking voice and thought for a moment. Then he came up with a solution)

“Father hold on a little longer. I will try to heal you or revive you!”
“ Grados… (coughs again) Grados”

(Delusion got the best of Cryton; his breath began to slowly fade. Fade into the black… Black Death)

“Grados… Grad… Loria… I’m… (tears fall from Cryton’s bloody eyes) I’m coming…”
“FATHER NOOO!!! HOLD ON!! NO! NOT YET!!”

(Desperately Cryton fell from Grados’ grasp, Grados put his hands with blood together, muttering a spell as fast as he could)

“By the name of the holy gods, please I beg you, grant me thy power to revive my loved one, he of good! – JEFIFAN OV HOUN-”

(A slow and gentle stream of light fell from the sky caressing those touched by it with warmness and tranquility. As if a goddess of love had come down. Grados in grief fixed his teary eyes upon his father’s body basked in red wine)

“PLEASE!! REVIVE!! REVIVE, DAMMIT!!”

It wasn’t the first time he had cried. Young Grados had cried the night of his mother’s death also, however, the reason he was able to surpass that sadness was, because he believed that his father would remain by his side. Sadly, tragedy showed him that he was wrong and destroyed that which was left of his hopes. (sigh) It was a terrible day. Despite Grados’ efforts to restore Cryton’s life with the revival spell he failed – in case curiosity had befallen the spell’s name is Revival of Soul-. His father was never brought back.

-----------------Chapter 2 First Part ----------------

Chapter 2

Unkind fate happens to us all. It happens in such a variety of ways. Families are slain, kingdoms fall, evil imprisons the holy, and even the mind fades into madness. And perhaps the worse was the last one. Losing the sense of reality and completely letting yourself be captivated by your own world. (sigh) Yes… Fantasy can be such a remarkable thing; helps you escape from that life that hurts you so much and create a new one in your mind. It is most unfortunate that people rely so much in escapees from the real world. Fantasy creates ignorance, while it is great… It can be horrible as well. Sometimes you must face what destiny has presented you. Face it with courage and a stern spirit and believe me… You shall be rewarded wonderfully. It is a simple fact. The world was created for us to live in not to destroy it; and life was created for us to live in not to desecrate it nor shield ourselves from its cruelness. Mysteries were meant for us to solve… Not… to fear them. Humanity is shameless. So much hatred is spawn everyday against each other, against nature. Tell me: what do we gain from such actions? WHAT!? Absolutely nothing. Not even power or wealth, for in the end emptiness will invade your soul and depression prevails.

Life should never be taken for granted, life should be enjoyed and made into what you wish by hard work and accepting reality. Of course, not everyone is the same and so they can’t all view life in a similar way. However, it is a mere example of how it should be looked. And it will grant happiness, I assure you. Believe in yourself, your abilities, your ideals, accept reality and other opinions, and happiness shall be gained.

Well, on with the story, I am not here to preach… ^__^ I guess I also got serious there but, this is how life works and it should be accepted. It just burns my soul to see people killing themselves just because life has been unfair. Humanity is a cowardly race… Always afraid of the unknown, of destiny. Anyways… Soon after Cryton’s death, dear Grados reported the incident to Sones Castem. Upon hearing what happened, Sones immediately began preparations for Cryton’s funeral. *sigh* Yes… I remember the day… It was day 15th in the month of Sitra. The months are called after each god and goddess, Sitra being the goddess of prosperity. I may have a clue of what your thinking… ummm, yes… Life is an irony. It is for everyone. It is part of its reality, of its cruelty. That day Grados learned so many things, so many secrets. As if… As if death was the key that unveiled the past, the tyranny, the wars… and even… life itself. I believe death brings about life and I shall tell you why as my story progresses. On the month of Sitra, day 15th, Grados returned home after the funeral all broken down. His eyes became red and started to gain shadows under them. It was really sad since he used to have glorious gray eyes. Well, poor Grados got home and took a shower… I believe it was around dusk and after that he stayed on his balcony staring at the sky, reminiscing about his father’s last words, his mother’s last gaze, and the last time he felt secure and confident. He felt an incredible anguish, as if his pride had been taken away, as if… He did not deserve to live any longer. He thought about… forgetting his sorrow, forgetting the cruel world in which he lived and strip his life, strip his existence! He wanted to fade into a void of mourning and despair. He continued throughout the night having feelings of fault, for what he clearly wasn’t to blame. He felt sorry for not acting faster and saving his father. And it is what happens today in the world. Many regret what wasn’t their fault, what they couldn’t stop from happening and then those urges to fade from the public eye, from your own eye. That night… Grados had a dream. An inspiring dream, one could say it was a revelation from the gods.

I really like your writing style, the way it sounds professional and casual at the same time. It's like you're sitting in a stuffy room talking with the narrator over crumpets or something equally british.

Well I don't care too much for the style. It's way too casual for a story, IMO. Especially with the little '^__^'s in there. That, however, can be altered slightly so it's more like what Tekk said (maybe starting with 2 people sitting in a stuffy room chatting over crumpets, and one of them goes into that story). Just reading it as is though.. I don't get that feeling so much. But maybe that's just me.

As for the story itself... not bad. Didn't get anywhere except a few explanations, but like you said it's just an intro *shrugs*. I'd like to see more action though

--------Chapter 2, Second Part -------------

(Grados appears in a field… alone… strange sounds coming from far away… sounds of… metal clashing… the stench of blood filled the air… As he looked at the ground, he saw himself on top of a lake of crimson liquid… He looked into the distance and saw silhouettes surround him. Dark figures fighting… Was this… a war? Grados tried to walk backwards and as he did he seemed to stride across the cherry lake… The young man bent down and plunged two fingers into the red water and tasted both fingers… It was blood. Clouds began to form upon him and as it started raining more blood came downward… Some fell on the wizard’s face… onto his eyes, as if his tears were of blood. Soldiers died before him, still unable to comprehend what was happening… Suddenly, a light between the black clouds appeared shining before Grados Minia…)

“Grados Minia…”
“Yes?”

(Grados responded confused)

“Grados Minia, I am Fanril, God of Destiny”

“Fanril? What’s… happening?”

“Hahaha, young man, don’t be nervous. I am merely here to see you in person and of course to speak to you about your future”

“My future? I… (looks down in shame) I have no future. My future has died along with my parents. I have nothing to live for. Nothing to fight for. I have lost all reason and all hope.”

“Hahaha, you are very bright, and truly human. Shutting yourself from all possibilities, just because you experienced a few tragedies does not mean it is all over. Pardon me for sounding so heartless; however you must realize that you do have something to fight for. Fight for your live. For the young lady in the near future. For love. And for your soldiers. Gah… I guess I said too much.”

“You...Young lady? Soldiers? Are these people fighting before me… my soldiers? Have all this blood I see below me… been shed for me? Death… for me?”

“Indeed. And not just you, but also for something bigger as well. Faith. Family. Hopes, and most importantly for their country.”

“Why? Why has this war been unleashed?”

“I cannot tell you. You will have to live long enough to find out. I WILL tell you that you will be part of it. I WILL tell you that along your journey you will begin to see the world in new perspectives.”

(The god looks around… suddenly with a flick of his hand, the whole landscape, the whole DREAM changes entirely and Grados appears in space overlooking the world then Fanril continues speaking in admiration)

“Aah, this world is so vast. Oceans as big as continents. Continents on every part of the globe… So many people, so many ways to think, so many possibilities. It is truly amazing how one can suffer through certain circumstances and then get lost in your own little world. How can people ignore the many wonders this very planet has to offer? How can so many people be so vain as to destroy their own kind? It’s shameful in every way. It is a disgrace. And you can make a difference. You, your lady… and your army. I am not to tell you any more information, but DO be careful. I only appear before those who I believe have the potential to do great things in this life. Just in case, you aren’t the only one, so no getting cocky.”

“Oh, yes, of course. I won’t” (said Grados bowing)

“Dear Grados, please survive. Survive to guide the world.”

(Grados upon hearing the god’s words he remembered something he had been wondering all his life)

“But, why can’t you gods do anything about it!? Why me!? Why humans!? You gods have all the power. Gods created life, so they can control it. Am I right?”

(The heavenly being lets out a booming laugh and then stops to think for a moment. For a while he maintained a clueless face until the words slipped from he mouth)

“Grados, while it is true we can do anything our hearts desire with the world, a pact was made to not intervene with our creations. Besides this world wouldn’t be any fun if noting happened, and people need heroes. That’s why there is always a chosen one. People seem not to comprehend that. One more thing, our creations have all been blessed with the potential to make a difference. You all have power beyond imagination that is strictly hidden, however that power can be unleashed, all you need to know is how and how to control it”.

“(sigh) Alright, alright.” (said Grados annoyed)

“Well, I better be going. Nice to meet you Grados. I am looking forward for the next time we meet"

(Suddenly the god stomped his foot against the ground as he clapped his hands and a blinding wave of light consumed the dream and swept Grados of his feet and fell. The light then began to fade… Darkness began to engulf the landscape…)

------------Chapter 2, Last Part-------------

Slowly Grados opened his eyes to reveal that it was still night, however as he looked out the window, he could see the sun steadily rising over the hills. The orange light that the sun emitted prevailed in the dark sky. The clouds tainted with a red-yellow color. Grados got out of bed and got dressed. Went down the stairs and looked around, everything was still the same. He picked up his backpack and strode out the door leading to town and upon midway he found the Mayor coming his way.

(Sones Castem III was wearing long blue and green robes. He was walking rather slow with his hands grasped together. As he saw Grados he smiled and began to walk a bit faster)

“GRADOS!! What luck that you are awake already? Apparently, you are ready to leave, are you not? Or perhaps going shopping so early?”

(Sones spoke with light sarcasm, something that Sones was really known for. He loved sarcasm and it made Sones look human. If truth be told, Sones Castem’s presence gave every place he went to a god-like feel. In fact, it is somewhat freakish. Grados looked at Sones and cleared his throat nervously. )

“Erm… Ummm… Good morning. I... I was leaving, sir.”

“Leaving!? Ha, ha. Where may I ask?”

“I was planning on traveling. Is… Is that ok?”

“It is fine by me. I knew you would decide to depart. Call it… Experience, if you will. So, I decided to give you a gift.”

(Grados took a step back surprised)

“A... gift? Why?”

“Why do people give gifts, Grados? Never mind, don’t answer that. ^__^ I brought you a bag of silver”

“Silver!? I can’t accept money from you sire!”

“O! Nonsense. There are 500 silver here, enough to get you through two continents”

“I… No. I can’t”

(Sones looked at Grados dead straight at the eye, grabbed Grados’ hands and gave him the bag of money.)

“There you took it. :D”

(Said Sones satisfied)

“Now, farewell young one. May our paths cross again”.

(Still astonished, Grados spoke)

“A… Alright. Good bye, sire”

(Sones strode away and disappeared into the town)

Ha, ha, everyone respected Grados, as you can see. Young Minia left the town and headed north. Along the way he encountered caravans and students and travelers of all sorts and countries. Many of these spoke of the wizard towers south of the Blue Ridge Continent. Others spoke of mythical items only found in fantastic caves. One in particular told the story of a legendary Sage who discovered how to unlock the powers of one’s soul. The very power the god had mentioned. The secrets of the Sage were said to be in the center of a forest just east of Bradok City. Bradok city is a port city northwest of Sonesia and west of Alcazan city. To get to the forest, Grados had to find Znue Road that extended across the Znue Mountains and then head north. So, Minia was set, he wanted to uncover the secrets, he wanted to explore. After hearing the traveler’s tale, the wizard purchased a map of the continent and went off, practically skipping. Hours passed and he walked and walked. Thirst occasionally invaded Grados, however it was a good thing he brought his spell books that showed him how to convoke water. With a wave of his hands over the cup and saying the word –Siwjagiol- (this meant Hydration) the cup would fill up with fresh, cold water. In no time night fell again and he decided to camp under a tree. Looked for wood and convoked fire (the spell for fire is -Vije- , I hope you guessed the meaning of Vije) to light it up. Patiently he spread his bed sheets and pillow. He laid down on the sheets and looked at the stars imagining all sorts of creatures he was going to see, like huge monster guardians protecting some altar etched with the secrets of that divine power humans apparently have. He imagined himself powerful defeating each guardian one by one using all sorts of spells. Quite an imagination he had. As the fire began to fade, so did Grados consciousness gradually drifting into a deep sleep.

Here's CHAPTER THREE!

Chapter 3

It was already morning and birds flew gracefully across the sky. Grados hesitated to open his eyes and as he did he lift himself up, feeling something strange on him… The wizard moved aside and looked at what was next to him…

“AAAAAHHH!!! WHAT THE HELL!?"

(The young spell caster hastily got out and stood up. It was a guy who was sleeping next to him!)

“AAAHH!! FOR THE OVE OF GOD, CAN’T ANYONE GET SOME SLEEP HERE!? DAMN IT!”

(The dude looked up and saw Grados completely scared. The guy stood up and broke the silence)

“Well… This is awkward. Wait… Grados1?”

“YEAH, AWCKWARD!! YOU WERE SLEEPING IN MY BED, WHAT THE HELL’S WRONG WITH YOU!? Wait... You know me?”

“Hell I do. Grados Minia… Damn, it’s me, Midgek Lithia!”

(Grados stopped for a second and looked at Midgek…)

“HOLY ****!! MIDGEK! How are you!? And what were you doing!?”

“HA, HA, HA! I was traveling and I saw the campfire, your sheets looked really comfy and I hadn’t slept for 3 god forsaken days, so I decided to take a rest. If I knew it was you I wouldn’t have done it... Wait… Yeah... I would’ve still done it. Ummm, ANYWAYS, I’m doing great, how about you!?”

“Ha, ha, same ol’ Midgek, eh? I’m doing good. My mother died two weeks ago and my father died last week. Well, nothing much actually”.

“Man, that sucks. Doesn’t it?”

“Yeah, but I made myself a promise and it was that I wouldn’t let myself stop living. Now I’m traveling around”.

“Good line of thinking. I’m doing some traveling myself. Wanted to check out that Abyssal Forest, heard there was some secret on how to unleash incredible amounts of energy making you freakishly strong. Almost as strong as a god.”

“Damn, what a coincidence, I’m going over there as well”.

“Nice, let’s go then. *sigh* How I’ve dreamed in becoming like Castron! That’s the best god there is! He can fuse spells with his blade and slash everything depending on the spell infused. It is said that he has slain shadows and all kinds of spirits that normal weapons can’t even touch.”

(They both started cleaning up and kept on talking as they departed)

“Really? My favorite’s Yybanon. Yybanon has the ability to control his surroundings and even time!”

“Castron can beat Yybanon!”

“Nu-UH!”

(And so they kept on walking arguing about which god is better and which is the worst)

They passed the Znue Road without problems, fortunately and so they continued north. On the way they found themselves on the riverbanks of the Stelius River.

“How do we cross?”

(Asked Grados)

“Let’s swim!! NO… No… Bad Idea… Our things are gonna get wet…”

“Say, weren’t you studying earth magic back in 8th grade?”

“Ha, ha, yup. Oh, crap, I get it now. I’ll create a path with rocks so we can cross”

“You got it!”

“Alright, stand aside… Goddess of Earth and Nature, grant me thy power to forge rocks from thy goddess’ womb and create a path towards our destiny! –LAPUJE’H KAGS-” (By the way, it means Nature’s Path)

(Suddenly, out of thin air, small explosions appeared and after every explosion a rock appeared. At the instant a rock was created it immediately placed itself on top of the water one in front of the other)

“There we go, a nice rock path, now hurry before the spell wears off and the rocks splash down”.

“Right”.

(Grados quickly crossed the river and Midgek followed behind. Right after the reached the other side, the rocks came crashing down the water in the order they were created. Minia looked at Midgek and an idea stroke)

“Say, Midgek… Wanna have a battle?”

“What’s in it for me?”

“Dunno”.

“Let’s see… Alright Grados, what if… Winner gets to read the secrets first”.

“Deal!”

(And so they both threw their backpacks on the grown and moved a few paces away so they wouldn’t destroy them. They faced each other and straightened their robes.)

I know, I thought you needed some outside voice to help you out. it really isn't a bad read, it felt really good as a lanching point for the rest if any of the story.

Here's CHAPTER THREE PART 2

------------------------------------------------------------------

“Who starts?”

(Grados asked)

“I believe the one who proposed the battle has the honor to start as well”

(Midgek responded)

“Very well, then! VIJEZONG! (Firebolt)”

(Grados raised his arms as he convoked the spell and fire engulfed his hands, when he instantly lowered them fire and electricity shot from Minia. When the incantation was about to hit Midgek…)

“EAJGS DANN! (Earth Wall)”

(Midgek kneeled instantly as he cried the spell and the ground shook and automatically raised blocking Grados’ attack. When the attack was blocked the ground shifted back to its original place)

“Damn, that was very nice! Now take this! GOJJELG!! (Torrent)”

(At the very moment the wizard shouted the enchantment, the river’s water elevated and in form of a tube shot straight at Midgek from the side. Lithia looked at the torrent and without a second’s waste…)

“FAKOJIBE!! (Vaporize)”

(Fire appeared out of nowhere and engulfed the torrent vaporizing it almost entirely except for drops that came down like a drizzle. Midgek, catching his breath, faced his old friend.)

“HA, HA, HA. THAT, my friend was awesome! Now it’s my turn! DILW HNIXE! (Wind Slice)”

(The spell was a cue… The wind started to pick up and in one location, in front of Midget. It started to gather, faster and faster… A green glow began to be projected from the wind and also it was taking shape… It was the shape of a boomerang… Looked like a steel boomerang and it was perfectly sharp on the edges… Then, Midgek released it and upon striking Grados…)

“ZAJJIEJ!!!! (Barrier)”

(At that second, the boomerang struck and crashed against the invisible barrier, however slivers of mana passed the magical wall and ripped small parts of Grados’ robes and one of the slivers made a small cut on Minia’s cheek. The cut opened up a bit and blood crept out gently. Grados staggered to get stand up for a moment and wiped the blood with his knuckle.)

“I guess I win Grados! Ha, ha!”

“HA, HA, HA! You lucky bastard”.

“WOOOHOO! I GET TO READ FIRST! Nice battle, though!”

“Yeah, we should do it again sometime!”

“Yeah, when you can properly defend yourself”

“You mocking me?”

“How ever did you guess? HA, HA!”

“He, he, he. We should get going”

“Yup!”

They both picked up their things and started their walk towards the Abyssal Forest.

------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 4

The two friends journeyed for days at a time trying to get to the Abyssal Forest. And as I recall the day the arrived it was the Month of Sitra, day 30th. The Abyssal Forest had very well earned its name. It was extremely dark and the strangest thing that it was barely noon. Midgek had created a torch to light up the path but walked behind Grados. They walked through the maze of trees for hours completely lost and unaware of the time of day. Suddenly by the distance, a sound caught up to them. Someone was there. Or something. The friends slowed down and watched their steps carefully trying not to be heard. As they continued onward a silhouette was becoming clear in the total darkness… But it was walking towards them… When they realized this they stopped. And in between thought they stepped back, one after the other, but the silhouette walked faster and faster. They imitated the shadow’s reaction but backwards. But… The shadow started running and then, BAM!

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.

Midgek and Grados had let out a scream and the person grabbing Grados’ shoulder!!

“WAIT, WAIT!! DON’T BE SCARED!! ARGH!! Men, always afraid!”.

(The two friends stopped. Midgek moved the torch closer to reveal it was a woman)

“*phew* It’s just a girl. SEE? Grados, you had nothing to be scared at, it’s only a chick. HA. HA. Hello, sexy, name’s Midgek. Sorry about my scaredy cat friend…”

“WHOA!! As I can recall you were screaming too!”

“Ya’ sure, whatever you say”

(The woman kept scowling at them in confusion. The Grados introduced himself as Midgek did before)

“Umm… Sorry, er… Sorry. >_< My name’s Grados Minia, I’m from Sonesia”.

(The girl scanned them and said)

“My name is Orquid Merilias. I have been searching for something in this forest. Something mystical.”

“Nice to meet you, Orquid”

“Whatever. So, if you please let me continue on my way!”

“Wait... Can we come with you? We are searching for something as well. Chances are we might be seeking the same thing”

“I don’t care what you do, as long as you guys stay out of my way”

(Orquid pushed them aside and went off into the dark once again… Minia and Midgek looked at each other puzzled and then started running to catch up)

“We are coming with you!”

(Said Lithia)

“I don’t give a damn, just stay out of my way”

“Geez, take it easy babe, no need to be harsh!”

(Grados looks at Midgek rather embarrassed)

“(whispers) Midgek, c’mon, stop it”

“(sighs) You are a wuss. You should be flirting too! She’s some hot stuff”

“Argh, I know, but try to be a bit more respectful, will ya?”

“Look… Grados we have differences and for me this is what works”.

(Grados stopped for a moment, staring at Orquid’s shifting waists. Thought for a moment and realized he was getting left behind. Minia caught up with Midgek, still trying to flirt with the woman who will one day shed tears for her lover’s death and would kill for love)

“Sooo… Orquid, did you know that you look lovely under the glow of this torch. I wonder if you’d look even better under the silver glow of the moon”.

“Mid… Migek, is it?”

“It is Mid-gek” (he said looking at Grados excited)

“Yes, Migek… Stop the flatteries. I don’t care if you thought I was a goddess, all I want is to find that treasure, and for you to keep your mouth shut. Be like your cute friend and be quiet”.

(Midgek gulped and ashamed kept walking staring at the ground. Grados, for some strange reason, smiled feeling somewhat satisfied. He stopped once again for a few seconds, admiring what he could make out of Merilias’s waistline and curves)

Well, Merilias was a gorgeous woman. She was fairly short; nonetheless, she had this womanly charm not all ladies possessed. She was… different, like a dream, unexpected. She was cold at the forest, but in reality she had a heart of gold. Beautiful as she was, as good as she was, she had a sense of humor, a humor bound to be unleashed for only one person. Yes… Only one person was to make her smile, laugh, and make her eyes shine with love. She was indeed a sight to behold. However, that is much later. Now on the forest they continued for endless hours, weary and lethargic. They walked without orientation. For all they knew or rather felt, they might have been walking for days.

(Desperate Midgek starts shouting)

“ARGH!! WHERE ARE WE GOING!? WHERE ARE WE!? CAN THIS FOREST GET ANY LARGER!?”

(The three stopped and Orquid starts to think, looking around her, seeing nothing)

“I’ve been wondering about that. It fits to say that we might have been walking in circles”.

Chapter 4 SECOND PART!!

-----------------------------------

“I CAN’T TAKE THIS!!”

(Grados looks at Orquid… Thinks… and…)

“I got it! Orquid, do you know any light spells?”

“Ah… Yes!”

“Let’s combine our light magic! If we succeed we might be able to illuminate everything around us”.

(It was agreed and both, Orquid and Grados, put their hands together and simultaneously began to chant a spell in Nagixian. The chant basically asked the light gods for light. Suddenly, right after the chant, light began to shine softly at first, getting brighter and brighter. Seconds later everything around them, as far as the eye could see, was being illuminated. Their area looked like it was a warm, summer day. They all opened their eyes slowly as they got accustomed to the “daylight”. The three young adventurers, Orquid and Grados still with their hands together, glanced around them and noticed that despite the sunny appearance the canopy was still as dark as a void… that wasn’t even what really surprised them. It was the shrine next t them. Just like the forest floor and the trees, the shrine was covered in aged moss. Thousands of mushrooms both tiny and large were all over the moldy forest floor, and all over the shrine. The shrine showed no signs a treasure. There were many strings with papers attached. Many of these papers were marked with ancient runes and sorts)

“Well, what do you know? The shrine was right here”.

(Said Midgek Lithia)

“Ha, ha, ha… We’re pathetic AND lucky. Ha, ha, ha”

(Still with their hands clasped they stared at each other… They both pulled away as fast as they noticed what they were doing and to dissimulate what they just experienced they started to search around the shrine made of stone. Midgek started to climb the stone structure, which wasn’t that big, as Grados tried to decipher the runes)

“Damn it, Migeg, could you stay put?”

“You are no fun Orquid”

“It’s not that I am not fun, it’s that you don’t know what this thing IS exactly”

“Looks like a big pile of stones to me”

“(sighs slapping her forehead) Dumbass.”

(Then, when Midgek decided to come down, a strange wind picked up. Blowing stronger each second leaves, dead and young, where lifted from the grown and ripped from the trees. Mushrooms ripping out from the ground.)

“In the name of Castron, WHAT THE HELL’S GOING ON!?”

(Midgek shouted frenetically)

“CALM DOWN, MIDGEK!”

“YES, MIGEG, SHUT IT!”

“NO! I’M NOT PLANNING ON DYING YET! AND MY NAME IS MIDGEK!”

“YOU ARE NOT GONNA DIE YET!”

“YEAH UH!”

“OH FOR THE LOVE OF YYBANON!”

“YOU LIKE YYBANON TOO, ORQUID!? AWESOME! YYBANON’S THE GREATEST!”

“GRADOS YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME, WE ARE GONNA DIE AND ALL YOU CAN THINK ABOUT IS YYBANON!?”

“MIGEG, SHUT UP ALREADY, YOU AREN’T GONNA DIE!”

(Chaos continued for minutes. The wind became extremely harsh, slashing upon the teens. Skin with cuts dripping with blood. Everything was getting blown everywhere. Grados and his companions struggling to stand firm. Then… the wind stopped unexpectedly along with the shaking ground… A strange silence befell and light gradually dimmed. Grados looked around perplexed)

“What… just happened?”

“I have no idea… Well, see Midgek? We weren’t gonna…”

(At that very instant the stone shrine exploded. Huge chunks of rocks blew everywhere crashing against Midgek knocking him out cold and pebbles flying all over the place)

“Damn it! What the f**ck!?”

(Grados shouted in hysteria. Smoke drifted from where the shrine once was, revealing yet… another figure. Orquid looked at the shadow of the strange being. Giant was its size. Unhurriedly it walked towards her and Grados… I’d say Midgek, but he wasn’t even conscious. The giant creature unveiled his identity as he came closer. The figure was more like a centaur. He was green and black. Green was his body, blackened arms and legs as if they were burns, black face, a silver stream of light glowed from the abomination’s eyes. His very presence gave an unholy feel to the forest surrounding the heroes. Fear chilled the spine of young Grados and Orquid. The horns of this monster curled around his skull, made of gold)

“Forsaken children! Why are you here? Why do you now stand before me?”

(The creature spoke with a loud booming voice, a voice close to a god’s. Grados, petrified tried to speak, but as he glared at the very essence of cruel bereavement, Grados was mute. Orquid tried to talk as well, however she also felt the abomination’s twisted gloom)

“Why do you not speak? ANSWER ME, WRETCHED BEINGS!”

(Midgek sprang up immediately as he heard the command. His eyes unfocused, Midgek tried to see the figure standing before him…)

“HOLY ****!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!?”

“You pest! How dare you speak to me that way!? Impudent child! I am the creator of this forest; therefore I am its darkness, its very soul. My name is Nexovsk. Why are you here?”

(Midgek started to feel the grim death rushing through his body causing him to become horrified. Subsequently, for Orquid’s luck, she was able to regain what little control she had and began to answer)

“We... are here too… erm… (stuttering with fear) We are here too get a… ummm… a… (gets frustrated) Aaah!!! We are here to get a damn scroll”

“A scroll you say? Several centuries ago, a young mage left a parchment and asked me to protect it. After consulting with God Fanril I was ordered to do so. To protect it. I was told that a rising hero would claim it. Fanril told me it was to be a mere child.”

(As Grados heard Fanril’s name, he remembered his dream. He felt his heart pounding. He began to sweat upon the realization of what Fanril had told him in his dream weeks ago. It was true. Grados was destined for great power. However, that only meant one thing: That millions would shed blood for him, millions would die in his name… Grados just stood there… fear slowly fading from his bones… his soul. He began to think…)

-Why? Why was I chosen for this? Why must I wage war? Why, WHY, WHY!!!??? FANRIL!! I DON’T WANT TO DO THIS! I DON’T WANT TO HAVE THE LIVES OF MILLIONS IN MY CONSCIENCE! (clenches fists) I... I shall not sacrifice Orquid’s life. Orquid… I will save you from such destiny…-

(Grados sighed closing his eyes shut and opening them slowly letting a tear run down his cheek. A tear of anger. In his mind… he heard a voice… The voice of the beast)

- Boy, there is nothing you can do. It has been foreseen. Your destiny has been set. Either accept it or die under the weight of your own denial-

- No! I must forge my own destiny. I can control my own destiny. I should be able too! I will not see Orquid or Midgek die before me. I will not be responsible for the damnation of a kingdom –

If it’s these two souls you want then rest assured, if you do not comply with the God’s wishes, I am the one to take their lives, not war-

Bastard! Don’t you dare touch them!-

What will you do? The very presence of me, hinders your body from doing anything, my VERY PRESENCE BRINGS FEAR TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE WEAK! DIE HERE WITH THE REST OF THESE MONGRELS!-

NO!! NO!!! I WIL NOT LET YOU!!!-

No, I think it's pretty good, stories are better when they are longer! :D

I agree that the style isn't my favorite, and I think that your wife constantly praising it is a bit tacky, but its a good read that holds a lot of promise. I'd definitely advise putting up some more chapters.

Chapter 9

"It's been years of preparation! Years waiting for this fateful day! The day all of your training will save your kingdom! And perhaps, if you find it in your hearts to fight for a kingdom other than yours, then it will save Ringort! This day... You are not only soldiers, but also saviors! Let us ban together, let us FIGHT together, demonstrate our might to our enemy! Whether they are Gods! Demons! Or even the Aeons themselves! Let them come as we will banish them into a land of despair! Ravage them for not only Kings! But for your wives! Children! Friends! And most of all... For yourselves! Yes. Today, men... All of you become Heroes! Now prepare for battle! Prepare to face your destiny!"

Grados Minia. General. Grados Minia. It's been years indeed. Full-grown that man. Marmir Liumthos sat on his pegasus staring at the Grandoian army, who were all hailing to Lord Grados Minia. Hailing to the loveliest of women, Orquid Merilias. Hailing to Marmir Liumthos, Templar for the Church of Netaxi. Yes. Not M'ramius Faith, but Netaxi, the religion that corresponded to this maginificent world. The soldiers slowly released drops of sweat under their suits of emerald armor. Orquid merely wore robes, hiding her smooth face behind a blue hood of silk. Ah, but Grados Minia. He held his head high. Slowly turning to the vast horizon where the opposing army began swarming across the Century Plains. His eyes of silver behind a helmet of Elven steel that resembled silver. Perhaps even stronger than silver. Elven steel that streamed down to his boots. Marmir Liumthos wore enchanted robes made just for him. Robes that were able to depict his maturity and his apperantly new-founded strong-will. So much they have grown. Now leaders of a new beginning...
