I was just thinking that out of all the Mirage guildmages, Granger Guildmage is the only one that I wouldn't mind seeing reprinted the most :P.

He'll fit really easily into a Selesnya/Gruul deck. You might be splashing white in a Gruul deck, anyway, for Congregation at Dawn, Watchwolf, or Loxodon Heirarch :D.

So, his first ability- tapping to give a creature first strike isn't TOO shabby...you have to tap him, but at least it's only 1 mana. It's a neat combat trick, but what you really want him for is his second ability.

His second ability is to ping a creature or player, but deals 1 damage to you. And you need to pay 1 red to do so. Still, I was thinking...if Gruul have early-game Bloodthirst creatures, how am I going to garauntee that damage gets through in order for me to cast my critter? No matter what kind of deck your opponent's using, he/she is sure to have some form of defence against early game attacks. Using a spell like incinerate or shock isn't very economical since you can only use it once, and besides- incinerate, volcanic hammer, etc, costs 2 mana. The Granger Guildmage's second ability can give you a very reliable way to get bloodthirsted creatures into play, and just at the cost of one red mana.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head...I suppose fireslinger might do the trick better. Does the 1 cc of the Granger Guildmage, as well as his little white ability make him a better choice?

Heh...I was just wondering about this because I was thinking that they might re-print the Mirage guildmages. You know- have a bunch of guys that aren't affiliated with any of the main guilds in Ravnica, but looking at them again, I think only the Granger Guildmage has a chance :P.
