*sigh* the long list of "somebody has been as creative as you have"... Good idea, though. But since I "develop" my lists myself, usually, I find it distrubing how often you come up with something that has been done before, the very same way...

I believe 5CB has more potential for originality (and I'm not sharing my tech for that), but when I wrote this list, I was surprised at how many viable decks there are in 3CB.

There are even more. One deck I though I could run for next round IS on the list, another one I developed, (but HAVE seen before, sadly...) isn't. It will all depend on the Meta. The general problem is the non-vanishing-clause. It is all hard to predict and generally, borken. I guess banning one of the winning list wouldn't hurt, really. I mean, not the mana sources, as these encourage creativity. I would rather say soem winning condition or control element would be nice if banned, every now and again. I guess the format would prove to become unhealthy otherwise... Due to beeing hard to predict (your only chance is using the banned-list, since these cards are not expected), some decks might get copied a lot of times, over time...

There are lots more decks, but I've covered wide enough that one can probably find a deck that will perform extremely similar for their gauntlets.

Example: Tropical Island, Thallid, Daze vs. Tropical Island, Durkwood Baloth, Daze.
Here the test is about having that extra mana, not so much beating the creatury (Although, if you have a slow clock, the second is harder).
An example of a deck that beats both could be Black Lotus, City of Traitors, Lavaborn Muse

Black Lotus, Channel, Darksteel Colossus/Platinum Angel
Mox Sapphire, Rishadan Port, Imaginary Pet
Hickory Woodlot, Tempting Wurm, Tempting Wurm/Naturalize
Taiga, Thallid, Crack the Earth
Undiscovered Paradise, Thallid/Stormscape Apprentice/Granger Guildmage, Evil Presence/Swords to Plowshares
Bayou, Thallid/Rogue Elephant, Duress
Peat Bog, Nether Spirit, Smallpox
Black Lotus, City of Traitors, Kodama of the North Tree
Swamp, Sarcomancy, Tel-Jilad Stylus
Mox Emerald, City of Traitors, Words of Wilding

Black Lotus, Sheltered Valley, Lavaborn Muse is more popular than the Squire version.

Thanks, SenorClown. I've updated the list at the top.

Also removed all instances of Leonin Squire and other banned cards.

I think 3CB is way more interesting when it's vanishing. There's so many cards that never see play in this format that actually might if the really good cards get taken away.

And a lot of cards that are not possible because 6, 5 or even 3 mana becomes impossible to reach. And a lot of metagaming decks that are not good.
Example: Black Lotus is banned. Previously, a lot of people played Lotus, Lotus, Threat decks. Taiga, Thallid, Crack the Earth was a good deck. Now the deck to beat is Forest, Durkwood Baloth, Avoid Fate, which eliminates crack the earth.

I may be wrong on this, but it seems to me like players generally just prefer playing 3CB the way it was where they started playing. People who started on MDV tend to prefer vanishing and people who started on MTGS (or MTGNews) prefer non-vanishing. That said, I'll say what I think I've said before; that the best way to do this is to alternate between vanishing and non-vanishing. Both formats are intriguing in their own right, but the game becomes even better when we experiment with different versions.
