Ok, so last time was a standard YMTC in its rules and glory. This time I was going to stray from that a bit and turn this around as best I could. Now, there are many more positions to fill as opposed to the other two (when I mean more I mean about 2). Sign up and first come first serve! Need at least 8 contestants; scorers optional. YOU CANNOT ENTER AND SCORE. ONE OR THE OTHER.

It's hunger knows no bounds; an unquenchable thirst, a whetless appetite, and an insatiable taste for destruction.
3/3
I've always wanted to see a creature that could do a lot of stuff like this. I figured with the ease of use of his abilities, the 6 mana casting cost would be justified. 5 seemed a little bit too low (And in a proper format, it could be a first-turn card if you had the right stuff...dangerous thing that is).

Ok, this time around I'm just going to give the scores alongside Reaper. I don't feel like the in-depth explanations and broken cards will probably be scored the same play-wise. When both Reaper and I give our scores, the combined best of the two contestants will be the winner. In the event of a tie, both players will move on instead, but will have a -1 effect to all future scores. Nyws..
Yusuke - 8/10. Good, though the name may seem a bit odd. If this is taking after Wrath Of God, as I imagine it to hence the name, would it be "Orb Of God?" Hmm..
VS
reapandplant - 2/10. Can't even tell if it's a permanent because it has no supertype and the ability makes it seem like an instant or sorcery.
FuDaWg45 - 6/10. Reminds me of Agrus Kos and doesn't seem like the most original ability I have seen. I'm sure Kos has a dual-color effect like this one and that's why your card is marked down.
VS
evilrabbitman - 7/10. I appreciate the way to bring flanking back, but this card is so horribly excellent it's ugly. For two white, any white creature can get HUGE. I'd say limit it to once per turn.
Death_By_Beebles - 8/10. Good land. Feeds off of both lands and creatures....though the second ability is really good; it doesn't even need to be tapped to activate!
VS
Mad Mat - 5/10. It only really feeds off of creatures and the charge counters stay on. It can be good without using other cards.
Maleficent - 9/10. I have to admit that this round was very hard for me to judge partly because both cards were verryy good. I liked yours just a smidgen better because of two things. 1.) the ability worked with any noncreature permanents, creatures, and your library. 2.) "unsatisfactory" is a fun word for a waiter.
VS
Tekkactus - 8/10. The only thing that I didn't like too much was the hybrid mana cost thrown about on this card. It would have been much better off having a blue instead for the cost of the card, and getting rid of the hybrid in activation cost.
Einsteinmonkey - 7/10. Both cards seemed equally good in effect and balance. I couldn't choose a winner so you both score the same.
VS
Starcore - 7/10. Same as above^^.
Remember, Reaper still can score you guys so there's a chance you can pull ahead.

Tekkactus - 7/10 Great blaggro card. However, I think it is weak compared to the old ritual - negator. Would have liked a 5/3, 5/4 from this.
vs.
Maleficient - 7/10 Too restrictive. Sure, it is powerful, but it should have removed instant and sorceries or instants straight from your deck. It probably won't last more than a two or three turns.
Death_by_Beebles - 7/10 The sac ability doesn't tap or have something to restrict its use in an aggro deck. Talk about breaking the symmetry of Wrath of God. "Look, I have four creatures. I play Wrath. I sac them all to plop down a creature." Okay... maybe not completely getting rid of the symmetry, especially with the non-token clause.
vs.
Mad Mat - 8/10 Nice job on this. It reminds me of the old storage lands.
FuDaWg45 - 3/10 Too overcosted. Worthless stats. His attack ability is good, but his defending ability got completely shafted. Hate it.
vs.
evilrabbitman - 5/10 For :w::w:, a white creature virtually gains +3/+2 when blocked. Ouch. Also, you worded it wrong, so I took off a bit for that.
Yusuke - 8/10 Decent.
vs.
Reapandplant - 0/10 If you can't play the card or utilize it in anyway, it is worthless.
Starcore - 5/10 Too powerful.
vs.
Einsteinmonkey - 8/10 Excellent card.
Ghurhgs
01-19-2006, 06:26 PM
Ok, Reaper's scores have been entered and here are the total scores (bold names move on):

Yusuke - 8/10
Death_By_Beebles - 7.5/10
Einsteinmonkey - 7.5/10
Maleficent - 7.5/10
Mad Mat - 6.5/10
evilrabbitman - 6/10
Starcore - 6/10
FuDaWg45 - 4.5/10
Reapandplant - 1/10
The numbers were added together then divided by 2. I seems cooler liek that. I'll post Round 2 later. It's gonna be a 1v1 and a 1v1v1. There will be 3 winners and they will all compete for top 2, then the final.

Sorcery
Choose a instant or sorcery you own that was removed from the game and play it without paying its mana cost. Shuffle that spell into your library. (Ignore Epic for this ability.)

I liked it, but for an enchantment to have that many abilities it seems...odd. Maybe if it were an artifact or land it may have worked better IMO.
This is cool because the cards are getting better and better as we progress. Thanks for the entries (sorry for delay) and i'll PM Æther to submit his scores.

Hmm...(oh and flipping a coin isn't the safest way to determine this. Unless you'd like to arrange airfare to fly Tekkactus to Yusuke's house just to toss a quarter, call it, bid sayonara, then return home, be my guest.)...I need just 2 people for the final round so...ok I thought of something.

~Create a simple creature that can get big.
This will be judged out of 5 points this time and is kind of an easy task. Whoever does better moves on. Simple as that.

Not really. If I really wanted to break the tie, I could take off one point because pardic means it is from the Pardic mountains, which isn't possible if it is from the Krosan Forest... I think.
Yusuke

ok first... Pardic Beast of Krosan made emphasis on the fact that it was both red and green... emphasizing its two home environments... but whatev.

Yusuke
[b]4/5
It has an ability requiring age counters, but no way of putting them on it. I don't see how someone playing this card would ever have to sacrifice it.
EDIT:...ah. I see. Well then, you both are tied again. Maybe Reaper can break it.
Yusuke
02-09-2006, 09:23 PM
If you know cumulative upkeep, you wouild know that every turn you HAVE to put an age counter on it. that solves your "no way of putting them on it" problem. Cumulative upkeep reads:
Cumulative upkeep [cost] (At the beginning of your upkeep, put an age counter on this permanent, then sacrifice it unless you pay [cost] for each age counter on it.)
and there is NO NEED to sacrifice. it's entire purpose is a different flavorful interpertation of firebirds and phoenixes. Phoenixes grow in power until they burst into flames and become hatchlings again. i put it differently than [card:90d79623b9]Shard Phoenix[/card:90d79623b9] and the new firebird for a different flavorful interpertation. to stop the bird from becoming too powerful, it bursts into flames, starting anew (removing age counters and +1/+1 counters)
EDIT: XD sokay. now where is reaper?

Death :4mana::b::b:
Enchantment
Death is indestructible.
Whenever a creature comes into play, put X life counters on it, where X is that creature's toughness.
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player removes a life counter from each creature he or she controls.
When a creature has no life counters on it, its controller sacrifices it.
Edit:
Basic idea: Death is impartial and inevitable. The only question is, how long do you have?

Death - :3mana::b::b:
Legendary Creature - Death
If a creature would be put into a graveyard from play or removed from the game by a source other than Death, it stays in play instead.
At the beginning of your upkeep, pay 2 life or remove Death from the game.
:b::b::b:, :tap:: Remove target creature from the game.

Basic idea: Death controls what lives and dies, so the only way something can die is if he wills it. Of course, you have to pay for his services XD.

I editted in my basic idea.
Interesting how we've chosen almost opposite aspects, eh?
Yusuke
02-16-2006, 07:56 PM
ya, i like how we both represented complete opposite aspects.
Yours is that death is always inevitble, while mine is Death actually killing people... i liked Family Guy's Reaper, so i thought of how he would do it XD.
May the best man win... even tho i still like Kreyta XD

I don't want to seem like I rushed the scores, but i'm leaving for the weekend and I don't want to keep you guys in any suspense. Æther Reaper, whoever wins you can make them a cool trophy or if there is a tie, make up an objective. You'll rule for the rest of the game because I won't be here.
