to be completely honest with you ben.
i find crosshatching to be effective but incredibly tedious...therefore a lotof the time ...I cheap out and just use a 7-9B pencil and smudge using a paperstub (a mass of tightly rolled porous paper[construction paper works nicely) or some other times i just use my finger.
the first pic is shaded by my finger,
and now for more pieces by me.

I really really like the soulgorger wurm. Not so much the mornigstar at its tail, though. Cool feature, just not so much fitting for the creature. My :twocents:
§cIoN
04-19-2007, 09:53 AM
ya i agree with the morningstar thing..once i started to ink it...i realized that exact same thing ...but it was too late. :D
anyway...there will soon be more to come...and thx for the comments.

WOW! :0 OMG SCION! You're soooo much better than me! :D A lot better than what i was expecting.
Man, someone here has got to teach me how to do all those little details that make the art sooo much cooler! :( I suck at detail...no attention span for it....i'm pretty sure i've said that a few times :D *random object hits FKIH in the head*
....:dizzy:

04-19-2007, 02:16 PM
thx FK...idk..i guess it just comes to me naturally...i don't really focus on anything in particular when i draw...
i just see everything as a 3d object that way i can get the shapes right and then the piece just sorta comes together...it sort of just happens.:D
i've tried to teach people in the past...but either im a bad teacher or they were bad learners(prolly the first one):D
A lot of good stuff!! I definitely like the Hand of cruelty. Also "the Queen" and "GIJOE splash" look very good. Makes me want to see more.

Goblin (or wahtever taht third one is) looks partially very good, but could use some more details for Mouth, tongue and that area, as that looks a bit plain right now. The rest of it is very very nice, and has a lot of deatils going for them, but the mouth and also, the theeth, looks like they have been completetd very fast ;)

Quite a lot of color went into your work, it seems. Is that due to you feeling you want to train, or do you simply like color better than black-white?
I personally prefer black-white, as it is a bit more gloomy, usually, therefor better able to translate the stillness and feeling of pics. I usually stick to the guideline "color for movements", but I do not think that is official in any way :o
;)
Anyways, my opinion: Mr Roboto suffers from the classic Superman-drawback: these primary colors just don't create any style you get to feel. I would generally shy away from blue-red, and yeah, I know it's not yellow, but what the heck. The first thing I thought was "Superman isn#t exactly style"
;)
I really like Halluzinations v3, and I am curious to see how it will work out in the end. Please post it here, when done.

acctually most of those were pretty old pieces i made a while ago...and the color thing is cuz during that time i was doing a decent amount of color work..
lately if i use color...its usually just one color...and its usually blue....just cuz i like the way a blue colored pencil looks.
Yezzandrix
05-05-2007, 10:28 AM
just cuz i like the way a blue colored pencil looks.
lol
That's as good a reason as any.
Anyway, ARE you going to finsih the skull anytime soon, then? Not beeing blue and all...

Ballpoint pen drawing and coloring? WoW! That's very hard to do, nice work!
The work is the proof that the drawing talent is a natural ability, you born w/that...
Great work, i wish i could do that without my art teacher standing behind me helping me the whole way... -_-

ok been some MONTHS since i posted here.
I've recently fallen in love with digital coloring.
I've downloaded a bunch of sketches by other artists to color for practice.
I figured I would post them here.
Original Sketches by the artist:

"Sweet"

Nice coloring. Specially the 1st one. The coloring on the Troll itself is also really well made.

THe Sketch of Izobel is like o_0;...
But I have always been one for BW-pictures, or really intense colors, so it comes as no surprise I like the sketch better than the color-works ;)
Same with the troll. I LOVE the detail of the mask that hangs from the tree, very lovely one. That one and the Pumpkin. That really makes for some creepy Halloween XD

Scion, defenitely.
Either way, still I like the sketch better. It might be the small pciture, but the face of the scientist seems to have lost the brutal sternness it had when drawn with pencil. The eyes of the demon-thingys are pretty cool, though. ;)

The colouring for Dominik Broniek's work is my favourite of this update :]. The speckles of blood you added really do a lot for the artwork I think :].
I'd be very interested in a tutorial of your colouring process if you feel like making one ;).
