Smells More Like Spirit. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, December 28, 2007 |
|
Smells More Like Spirit.
You have to love the title of the deck. Once you get past the catchy
title, you have a mean white-blue incarnation of a deck using cards like
Tireless Tribe, Confessor, Glory and Deep Analysis in combination with
Spirit Cairn for the win. If you like a different approach to a
white-blue deck, check this one out. |
|
 |
Assault on the Earth. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, December 27, 2007 |
|
Assault on the Earth.
If you like attacking with lands opposed to normal 'just-creature'
creatures, this deck is for you. Genju of the Cedars, Earth Surge,
Woodwraith Corrupter and Ambush Commander are all in this deck. Oh, and
Rude Awakening too. How fitting! Anyway, this deck is a great start if
you want to build a beatdown land deck. |
|
 |
Massacre-less Control. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, December 26, 2007 |
|
Massacre-less
Control. This is a rogue T1.5 deck built by Sebastian Smith over at
StarCity Games some time back using lots of efficient black discard
spells and cards like Manticore, The Rack and Powder Keg. While I don't
think it would stand up in the current metagame, what do I know about
that format. I'm casual. Note that I updated this deck page with the
deck detail from the author and deck creator (which I try to do when
posting these deck of the days). |
|
 |
Standard Salt and
Pepper Vapors. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, December 21, 2007 |
|
Standard Salt and
Pepper Vapors. Standard refers to the format it was built for. Salt
and Pepper refers to the colors of the deck: black and white. Vapors...
well that refers to Lethal Vapors, which this deck attempts to abuse.
Curious? Check it out. |
|
 |
Islandhome. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, December 20, 2007 |
|
Islandhome.
This is just one of those fun decks I enjoy playing not to win, but
to enjoy blue and cards like Sea Monster, Manta Ray and so on. The
majority of the creatures in the deck are islandwalkers or islandhomers
(can only attack if an opponent controls an island). How do you
get around Islandhomers? I mean, if you opponent isn't playing and
you are stuck with a bunch of defenders? |
|
 |
Roarrites. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, December 19, 2007 |
|
Roarrites. Adrian Sullivan designed this
deck with the help of other Cabal Rogue members. It was a deck focused
on Mindslicer and its impact on Standard, even though it didn't really
see much action during the Odyssey block for many reasons. I would
encourage you to check it out -- it abuses the Madness mechanic in Roar
of the Wurm with cards like Mindslicer and Last Rites. |
|
 |
Hitting the Bottle. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 |
|
Hitting the Bottle. This deck
doesn't recommend doing what its title suggests, especially since the
deck can be a little complex. First you want to set up the Bottled
Cloister - Ensnaring Bridge combo. Then add a little Dark Suspicions.
Finish up with a Null Brooch and a Seizan and then once you've won...
Well, you get the idea. |
|
 |
Chronocheese. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, December 17, 2007 |
|
Chronocheese.
This deck uses the new Barren Glory to give you an alternative win
condition. For those that don't know, Barren Glory is the new "The
Cheese Stands Alone" card which was original from Unglued. Using popular
and powerful suspend cards like Restore Balance and Chronomantic Escape,
you should have no problem in getting rid of all cards in hand and in
play except for Barren Glory to win the game. Check out the deck for
more information. |
|
 |
You Got Zurved! |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, December 14, 2007 |
|
You Got Zurved! The following is
what Chris Millar has to say about this deck: "This deck came all the way from Denmark,
courtesy of master single-card strategist Christian Moeller-Holst. I’m a
sucker for a deck with a toolbox, and Zur the Enchanter is nothing if
not handy around the house. Given a little time, the Coldsnap Legend can
make you immune to damage, facilitate a sudden twenty-to-the-dome
strategy, or even allow you to blow up all the lands in play, just for
kicks. I like to have Armageddon in my toolboxes. Right next to the
needle-nose pliers." |
|
 |
Rector Exam. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, December 13, 2007 |
|
Rector Exam. This deck attempt to
lockdown the opponent from hurting you via three cards: Ivory mask,
Bubble Matrix and Pariah. While the deck could use some work and
possibly some card switch-outs, I would encourage you to atleast try it.
Then fix it up and make it your own. |
|
 |
Rabid Licids. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, December 12, 2007 |
|
Rabid Licids. If you like Enchant
Creature spells, also known as Auras, you'll like this deck. Using the
Licid cards from the Tempest block, you can build your own personalized
creature. You see, the licids turn into Auras enchanting a creature. Put
some of them on your Thran Golem or Rabid Wombat and go to town.
Rounding out the deck you have Winds of Rath... |
|
 |
Erayo Affinity. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, December 11, 2007 |
|
Erayo Affinity.
This particular deck placed 7th @ the Columbus, OH regionals back when
Mirrodin block was prevalent. It combines the popular Affinity concept
with Erayo, Soratami Ascendant and Genesis Chamber. I could go on about
the deck, but I figured I would let you figure it out. Affinity and
control at its best... |
|
 |
Mercilicious. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, December 10, 2007 |
|
Mercilicious. Chris
Millar, this deck's creator, wanted to abuse Stingscourger from Planar
Chaos. Did he succeed in doing so? You'll just have to check
out the deck to find out. I will tell you this, he combines
Stingscourger with Aether Membrane and Kaervek the Merciless.
Where it goes from there... well, like I said -- you'll have to find out
for yourself!!! |
|
 |
Seeking Liege. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, December 7, 2007 |
|
Seeking Liege. Wow -- This is an old
deck of mine. I kind of forgot about it until I randomly chose it for
today's deck of the day. If you like Forests and you like Gaea's Liege,
you might like this deck. There aren't as many forestwalkers in the deck
as I would typically include in this type of deck, however, it loaded
with ways to make those forests work for you. |
|
 |
Twelvepost. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, December 6, 2007 |
|
Twelvepost.
This is a deck created and piloted by Gabriel Nassif at Pro Tour KOBE in
2004. It took him to first place! The name comes from the Cloudposts and
the eight means to search out the Cloudposts in the form of Sylvan
Scrying and Reap and Sow - hence the possibkle 12 Cloudposts (not
literally). Once the deck has its mana ramped up it entwines a Tooth and
Nail to bring two of its power critters into play (like Darksteel
Colossus). Or a Mindslaver... |
|
 |
Red Elements. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, December 5, 2007 |
|
Red Elements. Back before the
elemental surge of Ravnica and Lorwyn, I put together a deck of red
elementals including cards like Cinder Elemental, Skizzik, Fire
Elemental and Subterranean Spirit. Since then there have been a plethora
of good red elementals. However, this deck doesn't have any of them. If
you like tribal and want to make a red elemental tribal deck, check this
deck out. Use it as a point of reference. |
|
 |
UR Snow 2006. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, December 4, 2007 |
|
UR Snow 2006. "This is a “draw-go” style deck. The plan is to
just play a land every turn and pass. You almost never play a spell in
your own turn in order to keep mana open during your opponent’s turn. If
your opponent plays something threatening, you use your open mana to
counter it. The deck includes 14 counterspells, so you should usually
hold one..." -Frank Karsten about another's deck. |
|
 |
Hulk Smash. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, December 3, 2007 |
|
Hulk Smash. Hulk Smash
is a deck from the Eternal Formats. In all honesty, I don't keep up with
the Eternal Formats so I don't know if this deck is still viable.
However, it uses a combination of Cunning and Psychatog to combat an
opponent. And during its heyday, it did well. If you like Psychatog, I
would encourage you to check this deck out. If you have a deck
description for it, let me know via email. |

Hatch-It Job. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, November 30, 2007 |
|
Hatch-it Job. As you
might have guessed, this deck uses Hatching Plans with cards like Read
the Runes. However, what you probably didn't guess is that it is a
Horror Tribal deck too! Curious? Click the link. |
|
 |
Thallid Haze. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, November 29, 2007 |
|
Thallid Haze.
Thallids are a great creature type. In fact, Thallids and Spikes are two
of my all time favorites. This particular deck combhines a little blue
with these moldy critters to tap upon cards like Followed Footsteps and
Paradox Haze. If that wasn't mean enough, the deck's creator decided
Doubling Season was fair game. |
|
 |
Un Tidaled. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, November 28, 2007 |
|
Un Tidaled.
To Infinite and Beyond... with a bunch of non-rare cards. Tidewater
Minion... Dimir Aqueduct... Freed from the Real. Actually, they are all
common. Generate Infinite mana. Combine it with a bunch of LITE cards
and suddenly you have a cool deck. I would encourage you to check this
one out. |
|
 |
Rug Routes. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, November 27, 2007 |
|
Rug Routes. This one of the many decks
that tie in the name of the deck with the colors of the deck. The deck
is URG in colors, which can spell RUG. Combine the color with one of the
key cards, Trade Routes, and walla! You have a deck name. This
particular decks likes cards like Seismic Assault, Crucible of Worlds
and Sprouting Vines. |
|
 |
Tsetse. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, November 26, 2007 |
|
Tsetse. To quote the opening
paragraph of this deck's creator: "During my long sojourn, hunting for (and
Gatherer-ing) Volcano Hellion combos, I stumbled upon a couple of
six-legged freaks that seem like they wouldn't mind having liquid-hot
magma spat upon them. I'm talking, of course, about Broodhatch Nantuko
and Bennie Smith's beloved Saber Ants..." |
|
 |
Reborn the Ivy League. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, November 16, 2007 |
|
Reborn the Ivy League.
This deck is a remake of an old favorite of mine called Ivy League.
While Death_By_Beebles version of my deck doesn't include Scent of Ivy,
it still has some green heavy hitters and still includes Pattern of
Rebirth. You should check it out, and rebuild it with your own
collection. However, if you are going to use Ivy in the name, include at
least one copy of Scent of Ivy in your deck... |
|
 |
Charisma is Greater. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, November 14, 2007 |
|
Charisma is Greater.
I'll give you two hints on what ths deck is all about. Hint #1 --
The artwork on the card features Gerrard. Hint #2 - the card that
this deck revolves around is from the Masques block. Heck.. I'll
give you a third hint ... the deck revolves around a card reference in
the title of the deck. It's also a LITE deck. Curious? |
|
 |
Leave No Stone
Unturned. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, November 13, 2007 |
|
Leave No Stone
Unturned. This deck is one of the entries from
a past deckbuilding contest titled Land Savvy. It was hosted by
Death_By_Beebles in his Raiding the Dollar Bins article. This particular
deck has many combos including Akki Raider and Impending Disaster,
Mudhole and Planar Birth and Crucible of Words + Zuran Orb + Horn of
Greed... to name a few. Check the deck out! |
|
 |
Super Snake
Shooter. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, November 12, 2007 |
|
Super Snake
Shooter. To start off this week after a week
of no Deck Feature Updates, I've got a deck from Death_By_Beebles. This
deck is from one of his Raiding the Dollar Bins articles and features
lots of snakes, cards like Endless Swarm and Blasting Station. Where it
goes from there is up to your mechanical imagination. Check it out! |
|
 |
Streetzatog. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, November 2, 2007 |
|
Streetzatog.
This is an attempt at making a fun Atogatog deck but the fun really
begins with cards like Lifeline and Fecundity. The mana base is very
shaky, mainly because this is a LITE-like deck using few rares. Feel
free to update this for your own use so you can dust off your Atogatogs
currently in your bunk-card-box. |
|
 |
Nature's Assault. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, November 1, 2007 |
|
Nature's Assault.
It's another Spellweaver Helix deck! This one uses Relentless Assault
and Verdant Touch... and well, Nature's Will to attempt an infinite
attack phase. Buyback spells with Spellweaver Helix are evil.
Unfortunately, this particular combo involves combos. Oh - this is a
deck from Inquest Magazine. Man, do I miss them... |

Holy Golem. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, October 31, 2007 |
|
Holy Golem. Wow!
This is an older deck... made long before the great Creature Type Update
from Lorwyn. If you like Golems and have ever thought of building
a Golem tribal deck, use this deck as a platform to jump from.
It's not the best deck, but it how many Golem decks are there? |
|
 |
Oh My Keldon! |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, October 29th, 2007 |
|
Oh My Keldon!
If you like to break bad rares, this deck is for you.
Abe Sargent from Star City Games put this deck together in an effort to
break Keldon Battlewagon. Yes, that's right... Keldon Battlewagon!
There's something about making a 100/100 creature with trample that's
just fun and mean all at the same time. Interested? Check it
out! |
|
 |
Joshie Green 2006. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, October 29th, 2007 |
|
Joshie Green 2006.
This is one of those metagame decks that was built in an effort to
combat some of the trends of the metagame of its time. This
particular deck is a green-black aggro style deck with beatdown
creatures and some board control. And of course, Umezawa's Jitte
is in the list too... |
|
 |
Fun With Faeries. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, October 26, 2007 |
|
Fun With Faeries.
Apparently Garruk works very well with the faeries of Lorwyn, and
HappyBounce's deck, found in the MTGS forums, proves that. This
deck packs lots of new faeries with some old faeries to make for an
efficient and evasive deck. If you wanted to make a Fae deck,
check this deck out for an example. |
|
 |
Ajani and Kumar
Go To White Castle. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, October 25, 2007 |
|
Ajani and Kumar Go To White Castle. I hope everyone is enjoying
Lorwyn Week thus far. We are four days into this week and still
have tons more stuff to throw your way. This deck is
being featured mostly for its name. You have to admit, Ajani and
Kumar Go To White Castle is ingenious. Anyway, the basis of this
deck? Wrath of Gob + Ajani = FTW! |
|
 |
Dead and Stupid. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, October 24, 2007 |
|
Dead and
Stupid. How fitting that our deck of the day today is from a Raiding
the Dollar Bins article. You'd almost think I planned it that way with
there being a new Raiding the Dollar Bins article today. Anyway, this
deck combines Omeletback Goliath with some recursion. Curious? Curious
why I named him Omeletback? I must be hungry... anyway, check out the
deck! |
|
 |
Evokeswagon. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, October 23, 2007 |
|
Evokeswagon.
Hamletback Goliath is a big fan of Lorwyn creatures with Evoke and thus
is the theme of this deck. Packed with cards like Briarhorn,
Cloudthresher, Primal Forcemage and other fun cards, Hamletback Goliath
with get really large really quick. To help cast the Goliath faster
Chris Millar choose cards like Soulbright Flamekin and Sakura-Tribe
Elder to ramp up his mana-base quickly. Check it out. If anything, you
find this to be a start to your own Evoke deck. |
|
 |
Doran's Bridge Rules. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, October 22, 2007 |
|
Doran's
Bridge Rules. It only makes sense to feature decks using Lorwyn
Cards this week in light of the Lorwyn Theme Week in progress. And thus,
I bring to you the first deck of the week. It features Doran, the
Siege Tower in combincation with Ensnaring Bridge. Interested?
Check it out! |
|
 |
Grinball. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, October 19, 2007 |
|
Grinball. Ah... another
new deck from the recent deck database update. Grinball is a deck
utilizing Grinning Ignus and Centaur Omenreader to generate large
amounts of mana and high storm counts. Use cards like Empty the Warrens
or Molten Disaster to make use of this mana. How did you like this
week's featured decks? Remember you can discuss them
here. |
|
 |
Haakon Y. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, October 18, 2007 |
|
Haakon Y. These new
Shapeshifters from Lorwyn with the Changeling ability have some fun
interactions. Particularly with Haakon, Stromgald Scourge. This deck is
all about an infinite storm count with a grapeshot to finish off your
opponent. Interested in how it works? Click the link. This is one of the
new decks from the recent deck database update. |
|
 |
Birds of A. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, October 17, 2007 |
|
Birds of A. As the name
suggests, this deck is a tribal deck of Birds. Also as the name
suggests, this deck uses cards that start with A (not counting basic
lands). What the name doesn't suggest is that it is a Pauper deck.
Curious? Check it out. This is one of the decks from MDV"s
most recent deck database update. |
|
 |
Knighty Night. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, October 16, 2007 |
|
Knighty Night. Not
only is this a Knight-like theme deck, it's a theme deck too. All of the
nonland cards rhyme with each other. Not only are there knights and
rhyming going on, there are several combos. Most of which revolve around
"Blanket of Night". You'll just have to check this out yourself. |
|
 |
CoP Aggro. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, October 15, 2007 |
|
CoP Aggro.
I was perusing the WotC forums the other day and happened upon this
deck. Created by Team Zephyr, it uses Circle of Protections in an aggro
fashion. While I would consider it a control type deck with all of the
damage prevention, they coupled cards like Faith Healer, Phantatog and
Balduvian Shaman for an interesting deck that I would to test out. Check
it out -- see if it is up your alley. |
|
 |
Yes You Kanzashi. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, October 12, 2007 |
|
Yes You Kanzushi.
If you can't tell from the title, which is a crafty title, this deck
means to break Ornate Kanzashi. Lots of Kami block decks this week in
the deck feature. Anyway, the deck has access to all five colors and
thus has a better chance to play whatever card you remove from your
opponents library. Full of Talismen(mans?), Ingots and dual-colored
lands, here's to hoping your opponent is playing good cards in his or
her deck... |
|
 |
Goblin Droppings. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, October 11, 2007 |
|
Goblin Droppings. This
is a Jay Moldenhauer-Salazar deck creation back from when he did House
of Cards on www.wizards.com. In this deck he attempts to abuse Airdrop
Condor from Onslaught block in a deck full of goblins. Did he
succeed? You'll just have to check it out. |
|
 |
Oni Potent. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, October 10, 2007 |
|
Oni Potent. Ogres and
Demons go well together, at least in the Kamigawa block they did. This
budget oriented deck attempts merge the two tribes together in a aggro
deck full of beats and creature hate. Did I mention this is a LITE deck? |
|
 |
Lockness. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, October 9, 2007 |
|
Lockness. The
Kamigawa block attempted to bring back some reincarnations of pieces
from old Stasis decks in the form of Orb of Dreams and Hokori, Dust
Drinker. Unfortunately, they were nothing compared to the original but
the deck still makes a nice control, almost pseudo lockdown, deck. |
|
 |
Blood Gulch. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, October 8, 2007 |
|
Blood Gulch. Who would
have thought red could make a good mill deck? While this deck
isn't purely red, some of its mill cards are. The red mill cards
include Dragon Mage and Book Burning. Anarchist helps to recur the Book
Burning and other blue mill cards. The deck also features a suite
of burn cards to keep your opponent on edge throughout the match. |
|
 |
Legion Land Loss. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, October 5, 2007 |
|
Legion Land Loss. If you haven't
yet seen the pattern from this week's featured decks of the days, this
week's theme was land destruction decks. Today's deck is a well know
green LD deck called Legion Land Loss. Packed with efficient creatures
and cards like Creeping Nold, Thermokarst and Winter's Grasp, this green
deck is as good as it is cruel. Check it out! |
|
 |
Thunder Cats. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, October 4, 2007 |
|
Thunder Cats. ThunderCats is what
Brian Kibler refers to as a FOIL deck -- or a metagame deck. This Land
Destruction varient fared well against other decks of its time
considering how mana hungry they were. Check it out. This deck came
about during the Masques-Invasion era. |
|
 |
Sinkhole. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, October 3, 2007 |
|
Sinkhole. This is one of my earlier
decks, modified in the database to reflect four Sinkhole cards -- I only
own one. This is a mean mono-black land destruction deck that
features cards like Sinkhole, Ice Quake and Rain of Tears in addition to
Iron Maiden and Worms of the Earth. The end result is a cruel
black deck that your opponents' will fear. |
|
 |
Snatch Steal. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, October 2, 2007 |
|
Snatch Steal. Who
ever thought a mono-blue land destruction deck could be so potent. With
cards like Annex, Confiscate, Copy Enchantment, Dream Leash and
Tidespout Tyrant, this blue LD deck packs a punch. Designed by our own
Chris Newton, aka Tynion, this deck is a must try if you like blue and
LD. |
|
 |
Not Quite Armageddon. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, October 1, 2007 |
|
Not Quite Armageddon. A white
and red land destruction deck, now that's interesting. What even more
interesting is that this deck made Top8 at an Ontario Provincials with
more LD spells than land. Be sure to check it out -- it even includes
Ark of Blight in the decklist! |

 |
Droverdrive. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, September 28, 2007 |
|
Droverdrive. If you
like fatties and drovers, this deck is for you. It's chock full of
six-plus casting cost creatures and Krosan Drover. The Drover
reduces the mana cost of creatures with cmc (converted mana cost) of six
or more by two - thus making a six cmc creature cost only four.
That's spiffy and this deck is all about that interaction. |
|
 |
Lady and the Trampler. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, September 27, 2007 |
|
Lady and the
Trampler. This is a relatively cheap deck to make with only two
rares in it: 1 Myr Matrix and 1 Darksteel Colossus. The deck birthset is
Mirrodin as it is chock full of Myr. To help out in mana production, as
if there wasn't enough there are Urza's Lands and Cloudposts. Let's not
forget the Fireballs... |
|
 |
Icky. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, September 26, 2007 |
|
Icky. This anti-black deck
features both black and white cards. One of the combos in this deck
includes Infected Vermin and Strength of Isolation. By giving your weak
pestilence-like creature protection from black, it can't hurt itself and
die from its own ability. Other cards that round out this deck include
Duress, Vindicate and Plague Spitter. |
|
 |
Uktabi's Forge. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, September 25, 2007 |
|
Uktabi's Forge.
While this is listed in the deck database as a combo deck, it is
actually a land destruction (LD) deck. The combo involves uses
Thran Forge, Uktabi Orangutans and Stampeding Wildebeests to destroy a
land a turn. Kind of a drawn out combo, but it's a little more fun
and exciting than a normal LD deck. |
|
 |
Garv.dec. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, September 24, 2007 |
|
Garv.dec. This is a former
Type One deck. Of course, perhaps it is a current Type One deck too but
I don't know that because I need help in that portion of deck strategy.
If you want to help, please send me an
email. You can assist in providing Type One decks that the MDV
Database should have, update deck listings or update information about
type one decks currently in the database. For instance, this deck
doesn't have an author noted or a deck description. I can tell you it is
an aggro style deck with efficient early drops and other tricks that
make it a threat against other Type One decks. Cards like Kird Ape,
Troll Ascetic and Berserk are all good examples of its strategy. |
|
 |
Waiting in Line. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, September 21, 2007 |
|
Waiting in Line.
Ah! Three colors decks. Gotta love 'em! If you haven't noticed, this
week's decks of the days all had the same color combination in common.
I'm not trying to copy what www.wizards.com is doing -- I just thought
it would be fun to have theme weeks for deck of the day. In the
meantime, this deck is centered around Hold the Line. But how it is --
you'll just have to click on the link to find out! |
|
 |
Dawn of the Worms. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, September 20, 2007 |
|
Dawn of the Worms.
Vermiculous is affectionly called Worm-boy by MaGo and thus he built a
deck around it. However, this deck how a fun little combo involving a
recursion white card from the Mirrodin Block. Remember which card? If
not, I'll tell you -- It's Second Sunrise. Be sure to check this deck
out! |
|
 |
The Lich Deck. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, September 19, 2007 |
|
The Lich Deck. If
you've never seen a "Lich" deck, you might want to check it out. Not
because it is something completely new that no one has ever seen, but
because it combos the card with Transcendence. That's good fun if you
ask me. |

Desolation. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, September 18, 2007 |
|
Desolation.
Control Apocalypse style. This
Inquest engineered deck includes four copies of Desolution Angel, some
Desolation Giants and a playset of Vindicates. No wonder this deck
is titled Desolation. Also included in the decklist are great
cards like Orim's Chant, Death's Grasp and Phyrexian Arena. If
only Apocalypse had access to the dual lands of Ravnica block... |

Cocoa Pebbles. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, September 17, 2007 |
|
Cocoa Pebbles. This
is one of the many combo decks named after cereals (i.e. Fruity Pebbles,
Wheaties, Trix, etc). This deck uses Goblin Bombardment, Enduring
Renewal and Shield Sphere to do large amounts of damage. The difference
between this deck and Fruity Pebbles is the inclusion of Necropotence. |

Vampires and Moons. |
Deck of
the Day - Friday, September 14, 2007 |
|
Vampires and Moons.
If you like traditional tribal decks, and vampires, you'll like this
deck. This deck uses a good range of Vampires with cards like Vampiric
Feast, Steal Strength, Drain Life and Bad Moon. The keep a lower mana
curve considering all vampires are a bit expensive, the creator uses the
thematic Grimclaw Bats and Vampire Bats. |

Rats without Honor. |
Deck of
the Day - Thursday, September 13, 2007 |
|
Rats without Honor.
If the name didn't give it away, this is a tribal Rat deck full of
little black furry creatures and some Aether Vials. Did I mention this
is also a LITE deck? |

Mutilator. |
Deck of
the Day - Wednesday, September 12, 2007 |
|
Mutilator. If you haven't
heard, Inquest Magazine is no more. The September 2007 issue, #150, is
the last issue for the magazine. I, for one, will miss the magazine as
I've had a subscription to it for a LONG time. In the meantime, this is
a deck I found in Inquest that uses Mutilate with a slew of other
efficient black creatures from the time -- i.e. this is
MBC(Mono-Black-Control). |

Hitman's Scorpion. |
Deck of
the Day - Tuesday, September 11, 2007 |
|
Hitman's Scorpion.
"Named after the character in
Mortal Kombat, this is a simple, effective, fast, and expensive deck,
this one revolves around the combo of Norritt/Nettling Imp, Vampires,
and Sorceress Queen with a side dish of Royal Assassin and Sadistic
Glee. It usually has a good threat out by turn 3 and often quicker."
Note that I am quoting the unknown deck creator. |

Corrupter. |
Deck of
the Day - Monday, September 10, 2007 |
|
Corrupter. This deck is
an almost creatureless deck featuring lots of black control spells and
the Mirari. Combining the Mirari with cards like Duress, Corrupt,
Mutilate and Chainer's Edict can make for an angry opponent. The
Cabal Coffers just make it that much easier to pull it all off. |
