To gather great and unique decks from around the world.

To provide reference material to design decks.
To provide well written articles
regarding casual magic.

Brief History
Magic Deck Vortex
was founded in August, 2002 by John Streetz and Jason Streetz.
It started as just an EXCEL database of 100 decks John Streetz had
collected from a variety of sources (60 of which were actually put
together as actual decks for casual play at the time). Note:
Jason does not play magic... he helped to establish MDV by hosting it
on his site: www.streetzuite.com.
Many thanks to Jason for his help in the beginning.
Originally, Magic
Deck Vortex brought people in by having a deck clinic, regular
contests and a deck
submission page. Magic Deck Vortex as a 'magic' site has
been expanding internally and
externally ever since August 2002 through other means such as
articles, it's combo and deck database, and it's linking network
across the net. Now, Magic Deck Vortex is linked to on over 70 different websites around the net including web rings and popular
portals like www.dutchmagic.com,
www.maroox.com, and
others.
Since the beginning, MDV has grown from 100 decks to over 1500.
Features have expanded from minimal to better. This trend will
continue until there is nothing left to expand (which is impossible
considering the many different directions of the site now). One of the hopes
of the webmaster is to have the site referenced and/or mentioned
on the main site, www.magicthegathering.com.
[Who am I kidding.. MDV isn't
www.brainburst.com.
Oh well. Until then...]
Current
Focus
Magic Deck Vortex
has so many facets it is tough to really explain what the current
focus is. However, as of 8/28/06, here are my goals to complete
until the end of the year.
-
To continue to add new and
innovative casual and tourney worthy decks throughout the year.
Right now the average deck postings is about 20 a month.
-
To give the site
a newer look. Although the red background will always stay.
I have already added better navigation buttons throughout many parts
of the site.
-
To provide a 'better' search
engine for the site.
-
To incorporate more articles into
MDV on a daily basis.
-
To keep expanding
the visual spoilers and creature type spoilers by adding older
spoilers like Tempest, Mirage and so on and also other creature
types with more than 10 creatures in that type (not currently
posted).
-
To excel as a net provider of MTG
related stuff.
-
To offer something for everyone
that visits the site.
That's it for
now. Those are in no particular order. If you would like
to chime in, please email me and I will re-evaluate this list.
Or you could post your concerns in the forum (which I recommend over
emailing me).
