Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
I
have stared at the Aboroth card for a good four years and to this day I am
a bit perplexed on how to use it efficiently. Its kind of like the
Skyshroud Behemoth from Nemesis. Kind of useless. After a
great deal of thought, I have found there is a good use of the Aboroth:
Fervor, Wrath of God and Liberate. All of these help the Aboroth
reach it's potential. Let's look at the Aboroth. Only six mana for a
9/9. The drawback: cumulative upkeep of a -1/-1 counter. OUCH!
Scenario: Your opponent has 4 creatures
and you have two. A bird and a Blastoderm. You also have
Fervor and Mirari's Wake out.. and 2 life. You are dead next turn.
Luckily you have lots of mana since it is late in the game. Wrath of
God is in your hand along with Lightning Bolt and your opponent is at 12
life. Lightning bolt him. 9 life. Wrath of God. Bye bye
creatures. Cast Aboroth and attack. Your opponent is dead.
This is the deck's ultimate goal. Its win condition is the Aboroth.
Sol Ring, Yavimaya Elder and Birds offer
speed along with 24 total lands. The Elder gives some card
advantage. Disintegrate is for those pesky Weatherseed Treefolk or
the like and the Seize the Day is to double whammy your opponent with the
Aboroth the first turn it comes into play. Blastoderm does well in
this deck as well.
