  The
Zur and Evershrike Show.
Description of deck by its author
(quoted):
One's an insane sorcerer obsessed with
perfection, the other's a weird flying snake thing that eats magic.
Together, they fight crime!
This is a twist on the standard Zur build, made a lot
more interesting with the inclusion of Evershrike. I tinker with the
proportions of the auras a lot, and will probably continue to do so in
the future, but this build has served me fairly well.
Generally, the goal is to get one of them out as soon
as possible and beat face. But if luck is on my side, I'll get both of
them, and that provides the REAL fun. Zur stacks aura upon aura onto
Evershrike, and then pain happens.
The inclusion of Painter's Servant seems kind of odd
at first glance, but he serves a very useful purpose: Making Evershrike
unblockable. Name Blue as I play it, and throw on a Steel. Presto. There
may be other ways to do it, but none in Standard that involve auras.
Scuttlemutt has been suggested in its stead, but I don't like it much
for this; It's more expensive to get out, and has to wait a turn before
it can activate. Servant works as soon as you drop it, and makes a nice
early blocker besides.
The rest of the deck is fairly self-explanatory; auras
that go well with either of them, Greater Auramancy for protection (note
that Zur does not target) and a single Spirit Loop to infinitely recur
Evershrike if need be. Prison Term and O-Ring - both fetchable with Zur
- provide all the removal I need.
I'd like to note that for awhile, this build used
Daybreak Coronet. It seems like an obvious choice, but more often than
not, it ends up being a "Win More" card. I wasn't happy with it, but
feel free to try it.
That's all for now, folks! Tune in next week, same Zur
time, same Zur channel!
