Warriors' Call.
Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
Your plan with this deck is to curve out,
hopefully topping it off with the Legendary bad boy himself. You have
eight 1-drops and eight 2-drops, so your curve is certainly capable of
this. Usually you would want more in both of those slots, like 10-12,
but the available warriors are slim…I mean we are already using Crazed
Goblin here!
In order to help you in tough combat situations, I have
included 3 cards that can break through – Glacial Ray, Kodama's Might, and
Matsu-Tribe Decoy. The Might and the Ray obviously have a bit of synergy
together, and I recommend waiting until you can splice until casting them
when possible, but sometimes the Crazed Goblin just refuses to wait.
The Matsu-Tribe Decoy is really awesome once you get the
Son into play. You can lure two creatures into blocking him and deal 1
damage to each (he will have the extra power at this point). Then, while
the Decoy will be sacrificed (proper flavor), the triggered ability will
kill both of those creatures.
While I didn't want to make this a snake deck in
particular, I wanted to use Sosuke to his full effect. The answer was to
include many Snake warriors such as the Decoy, the Ranger, and the Reaver.
This lets you get a pump effect and the 'Warrior' effect in one
package…and with the Reaver you can even regenerate and keep swinging!
Tips on Playing the Deck
-people will likely not block your Akki Avalanchers, especially once
Sosuke comes out. Later in the game, You will certainly want to convert
your lands into extra damage.
-You can often finish off your opponents with Glacial Rays. Simply splice
one Ray onto the other, and then cast the second one for a total of 6
points of finisher damage.
-be careful with your Decoy. Even If You force one small thing to block,
they are still allowed to block with extra stuff to make sure the Decoy
bites the dust.
-Use the Snake ability on the Decoy to your advantage. Sometimes you will
cast him on turn 3, and it can be really good to just force a block on
turn 4 to get a nasty blocker out of the way for two turns.
-Most of your creatures are good at saying 'don't block me with a bigger
creature' but people will be happy to trade creatures on even terms with
them – point in case, Orochi Ranger. Keep this in mind when attacking.
Adding Money to the Deck
Zo-Zu the Punisher would be great to add to this deck, since it helps fill
a hole in the curve. You will need to change the mana base around a bit to
support him though. You can also go a different route with equipment and
artifacts, Krark-Clan Grunt, and Vulshok Battlemaster. While this is
decent, you won't be able to use Sosuke to his full effect, and I
personally feel he is the glue that binds the deck together. Soulblast
might also be worth taking a look at. Oh, and Birds of Paradise. Always
Birds of Paradise! Have I ever mentioned Birds of Paradise?
Overall this deck is decent for casual play, and could
probably beat a few competitive people just because of the aggressive
nature of the deck. Still, it is a deck with 0 rares and few uncommons, so
with that in mind it performs rather well. |
