Description of deck by its author
(quoted):
It has been a long-standing joke that there
are only four colors in Magic, green not being one of them. green, not
withstanding such criticism, offers the best pound-for-pound creatures
in the game so that's where we're going to search for big beasts....
With so many good creatures in green from which to
choose, how do we decide what creatures to play? If we want the deck to
actually win a game or two, then we can't just have big badums in the
deck or we will be sitting there for six turns looking at the Force of
Nature stuck in our hand.
Llanowar Elves and Birds of Paradise are good choices
as they come out early and provide the accelerated mana output that our
big badums need. The 0/4 Wall of Blossoms provides early defense,
without the loss of a card, so we have a better chance of getting to the
heart of the deck. We even have one semi-badum in the mix with the new
Albino Troll.
The spells that we would look for in a big creature
deck are ones that aid our primary purpose; get big creatures out fast.
Cards such as Wild Growth and Overgrowth are very helpful in this quest.
If you can find four of them, however, nothing quite bearts Eladamri's
Vineyard for accelerated mana production.
Fireball: This spell doubles as two important elements
of the deck -- as creature control and the deathblow. Hurricane can
clear away the flyers as well as be a deathblow to your opponent. |
