Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
Recently, I’ve been trying to get into
post-rotation Extended. I thought that with such a broad amount of
archetypes, I could either invent a new deck or make a neat little
variation that worked well. But after a long time of wasted deck ideas
with really nothing to write about, Raphael Celorio, a playtest partner,
came up with an idea for a new deck. It basically killed any other deck
that was aggro, and had an answer to many different forms of control
decks. In fact, it was extremely hard to defeat with any deck other than
the rock. So we revised and revised it, until we eventually came up with
this list.
First off, I know what all of you are thinking: “This
deck would never work as well as you say it does!” Well, I can honestly
see many of you believing that. The decklist itself seems very shaky,
despite containing three of my four worst enemies (Exalted Angel,
Vindicate, and Troll Ascetic, with the fourth being Samurai Enforcers in
CHK limited.). But the fact is, the deck actually runs very smoothly,
here’s why:
1) It resets the board and eliminate creatures easily.
In general, aggro seems to be the better choice in post-rotation, with
Goblins and Affinity both being tier one. This deck can easily eliminate
any creature, or a swarm of creatures.
2) It sets a clock against control.
With all of the powerful creatures in this deck, it’s easy to win quickly
in a control matchup. The exception to this is the Rock, which is a
difficult matchup.
3) It actually has enough mana fixing.
As weird as it may seem, the deck actually does have enough mana fixing.
Birds, fetchlands, Cities, and Wastes help with this a lot, but it will
become even better once Ravnica rolls around.
Those reasons actually make the deck much more playable.
