Stax
(mono-red).
Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
Since the early days prison decks like Stasis have bored opponents
to death by eliminating ALL options until they could play nothing and
just plain lost. These prison decks are often based on soft-locks. Those
locks can be stasis-kismet, or any other combination of cards. Recently
in vintage a very strong prison deck called Stax has emerged. It abuses
the power of Smokestack in conjunction with Sphere of Resistance and
Tangle Wire to leave an opponent without resources. The deck is
incredibly potent but also incredibly expensive to build. It runs a full
set of Power 9, 4 Mishra’s Workshops, as well as other expensive
cards.
Today I will be bringing you Slax: the 95$ solution. Slax is a
budget based mono-red (or with a blue splash) prison deck. The Slax lock
is based around the synergy between many components of the deck. These
main components are Winter Orb, Pyrostatic Pillar, Ankh of Mishra, and
Goblin Welder. The essential idea of the deck is to keep you opponent
low on mana with Winter Orb and Ankh of Mishra, while doing your best to
make those cards one sided with Goblin Welder (by welding them away at
the end of your opponents turn), and forcing your opponent to take
damage for the spells they play while low on mana via Pyrostatic Pillar.
Note: If you cannot get Su-Chi, try
Cathodian or Juggernaut
