Description of deck by its author
(quoted):
This is a prison deck. Winter Orb and
Propaganda/Ghostly Prison work together to keep creatures from bashing
your head in. Relic Barrier allows you a full untap or can keep your
opponent from drawing extra cards from Howling Mine. The Isochron
Scepter combos pretty well with Orim's Chant or Abeyance (or Accumulated
Knowledge). The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale is especially brutal when
the opponent is under the Winter Orb lock.
The deck wins by skipping extra draws to put study
counters on Pursuit of Knowledge, then using the extra card draws from
Pursuit of Knowledge to burn the opponent with Words of War.
The sideboard is geared add to the Enlightened Tutor
toolbox. Pyroclasms are mostly for the Goblins match-up but can go in
against Gro as well.
Some will question the use of Remand over some of the
older, more 'dependable' counterspells like Counterspell or Mana Drain.
I chose Remand for a couple of reasons.
1.) It draws a card.
2.) It is really good very early in the game AND under a lock. Who cares
if the spell is back in your opponent's hand if they can't replay the
spell? |
