Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
It seems simple enough, but it's not that innocent. Take a closer
look as the deck has many utility spells that work towards the overall
goal and milling it up. Wall of Hope is just a good blocker and is sure
to keep the hordes from swinging in to fast, but it does not threaten
them to eventually swing with several creatures which is just what you
want to feed your Mesmeric Orb. Leonin Elder is also a good life gainer
in your deck and great versus other artifact decks. Mana Leak should be
reserved for the most special of spells as you may want them to pay the
three to induce a better mill. Trade Secrets is NOT a turn third play;
it is at fastest a turn five play where you can Brain Freeze off of it.
I have found it to be a great mill card to make sure you win before
passing turn if they can find a way to damage you during their upkeep
after untapping.
And to the meat of the deck (pun
intended): Mesmeric Orb and Grinding Station, supported by Sculpting
Steel. These are the cards that put the hurt on! If you can get to six
or seven mana and drop several Orbs after you opponent taps out you have
a really good chance of putting the grind on. Brain Freeze one of the
best mill cards of all time is a two or three drop if you can get it for
nine or twelve from your opponent. And since you are sure to take some
mill from your own Mesmerizing, use Ritual of Restoration what you need
for the win, not to mention how useful it is if you run into some wacky
player who plays artifact destruction. |
