Ideally, the goal is to get out a creature and
Sunder, as a quick Lurking Evil can usually win the race against an
opponent with no mana. The Monoliths help speed it up a little, and the
Priest of Gix ensures that you get the black mana that you need, since
both the Skirge and the Evil take multiple black mana to get into play.
It's not uncommon to Ritual out a 1st turn Evil, followed by a 2nd turn
Monolith and a turn 3 Sunder. Unfortunately sometimes you don't always
draw the Islands to Sunder, but hey, considering the mana sources in UBC,
it'll have to do. Aside from beatdown reasons, the Sunder really rocks
and Echo decks, and considerably slows or cripples various conrtol or
combo decks.
