Description of deck by its author
(quoted):
Before ENDURING IDEAL is activated: Plop out
token chump blockers until you're ready to explode. Tokens come in the
forms of City-Tree Saprolings, Squirrels from a Nest, and Centaurs from
a Glade. Standing Stones provide further creatures though you might wish
to drop a couple for G/W land instead if you're worried about mana
issues.
A word of caution, Pegasus Refuge and Words of Wilding
exist more as engine mechanics rather than mass-production tokens, so be
cautious about using them too early. See below for further info on their
use. Sterling Grove is an engine card, it provides something akin to a
Privileged Position, though only for Enchantments, but it can be
sacrificed to tutor a different Enchantment. Once you have a Sterling
Grove in play AND a Privilidged Position, they act exactly like two
Privilidged Positions. The Grove protects your Position, the Position
protects the Grove plus everything else you have, i.e. your tokens.
Enlightened Tutor tutors Enchantments, nice, but also a
lone artifact - Feldon's Cane. Feldon's Cane can be essential, it provides
a post-Enduring Ideal mechanism to shuffle your graveyard into your
library, getting back all you destroyed or discarded Enchantments. But it
must be in play before you ENDURING IDEAL. Faiths Fetters, Teferi's Moat,
and a Glare of Subdual, provide "hold them off" mechanics until you're
ready to ENDURING IDEAL.
Once ENDURING IDEAL is activated: Get Sterling Grove and
Privilidged Position into play ASAP. This protects you from Targetting.
Words of Wilding into play ASAP. For one mana you get a 2/2 token per
turn, handy, and - you don't draw. Avoding Draw is essential as you cannot
cast spells, nor ENDURING IDEAL the Enchantments in your hand! Drawing an
Enchantment is a "dead" card in your hand - not good. Avoiding that, and
getting a free 2/2 critter is all good. Pegasus Refuge is the mechanism to
discard essential Enchantments from your hand into your graveyard. After
all, what if you have Day of the Dragons in your hand? It'd be dead. So,
once Grove and Position are in play, once Words of Wilding is in play, and
Pegasus Refuge IF you need it:
Get a Centaur Glade, pump a critter.
Get the Doubling Season, pump more critters.
Get Web of War, drop some more critters.
Finish with Day of the Dragons, a flock of 7/5 flying
Red Dragons. With Haste.
Confiscate exists in case you need "really need to take
care of something", for example, a Blazing Archon. |
