Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
We all know him, he’s the one buddy who keeps whipping out the same
killer deck—you know, the one that’s been cleaning up on the tourney
circuit—and beating us to a pulp every time we play Magic.
Well, now it’s time to put an end to that silly, ‘Net-decking. It’s time
to “remind” that guy of a better time, when online porn was free and
Magic games were casual.
What’s in it? No matter what deck you’re out to screw, the principles of
playing Grim Reminder are the same. You want to use black elimination
like Barter in Blood and Terror to wipe out big threats you can’t
handle. Blue’s bounce deal with the rest, forcing an opponent to take
another six on the chin to replay his key cards.
From there, you want to play one-ofs of every key card the deck’s
“target” relies on. Take this build for example; we’re out to screw the
crap outta affinity, so we’ll use one copy of key affinity cards like
Thirst for Knowledge, Thoughtcast and Broodstar to fuel Grim Reminder.
The beauty is the Reminder shuffles the named card back into your deck,
so if your foe wants to play another Broodstar, you’ll be ready to nail
him with another six. Once you have five mana, you can recur Grim
Reminder each turn.
Fun for all. Versatility is what makes this deck tick. You can load up
on slivers to beat the guy who turned that Legions pre-con into a
killing machine, or sub in equipment, Auriok Steelshaper and Leonin
Skyhunter versus white weenie. Heck, proxy up some moxes for that
Type-1-playing guy from the “right side of the tracks.” S’all good. Who
mandates a 15-card sideboard in casual play anyhow? And if they do,
there’s always the wishes.
