Description of deck by it's author
(quoted):
This deck also
has a lot of different things going on. First of all, the fat is very
good. Blastoderm is the fattest of the fat and is really good in this
deck. Lesser Gargadon is a 6/4 for 4 that helps keep down your land
count so you don't take pain from the Citadel. After you have five mana
sources (lands/Trellises), usually there's not much of a problem.
Next in the fat department, Scoria Cat
gets +3/+3 whenever you own no untapped lands, which is the point of the
deck. Veteran Brawlers can block whenever you control no untapped lands
and when the opponent's tapped out, you can attack with this 4/4 beast
for 2. The Trellis is a good blocker that can also produce mana. One of
the most crucial cards in the deck is the Idol, which helps keep you
from taking Pain damage and also activates the abilities of the Cat and
Brawlers.
Then of course, comes the focus of the deck: Citadel of Pain. The Pain
deals X damage to each player at the end of that player's turn, where X
is the number of untapped lands that player controls. The deck is built
around this card, but is not dependent on it to win. Rhystic Lightning
takes care of one of their creatures that are in the way. Then comes
Rupture. Rupture is very underrated, as it clears the board of all
creatures without flying and deals damage to each player, at the price
of 3 mana and a sacrificed creature.
The land is a little low, but there are
four Trellises, which is also why there is one more Mountain. The mana
count works very well and I usually have no problem getting two of each
mana out and keeping them out. |
