Description of deck by it's author (quoted):
Oath of Mages is a very difficult card to break.  In fact, while trying to make this deck I thought, why am I even trying to build a deck when I could just load it with more burn instead.  That would probably be a better use of my time!

Anyway, cards like the Wooded Foothills, Steam Blast Bloodstained Mire, Orcish Artillery, Fireslinger, Aftershock and Flame Rift all help keep your lifetotal at just less than you opponent's.  Emergency cards (for when you are getting too low) include the Essence Bottle and Claws of Gix.  Unless you are playing against another direct damage deck, use all of your cards to kill your opponent's creatures and allow Portcullis to set up the rest.  Portcullis should keep the board clean of big fatties.  All the while, your Oath of Mages should keep pecking away at your opponent.
