Sol'kanar the Swamp King - Enduring Renewal - Blood Pet
Here's how this infinite life combo, submitted by YWN, works.  With all three cards in play, sacrifice Blood Pet to add one black mana to your mana pool.  Enduring Renewal will put Blood Pet back in your hand.  Cast Blood Pet with the black mana provided when you sacrificed him the first time and Sol'Kanar will gain you one life.  Repeat the earlier action of sacrificing the Blood Pet and keep repeating this as many times as you like to gain yourself infinite life.
Merieke Ri Berit - Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura
Merieke Ri Berit is a harsh woman -- perhaps we can find a little bit of her cruelty to our advantage.  You see, try enchanting her with Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura.  Both will untap her again and again.  Whenever you tap her to gain control of an opponent's creature, use one of the previously mentioned Auras to untap her.  Untapping her will kill the creature you just stole.  What this translates into is "U: Destroy target creature".  Submitted by YWN.
Nicol Bolas - Evacuation
This is one cruel combo deserving of the ol' Nicol Bolas card provided by YWN.  Have Nicol Bolas deal damage to an opponent.  If that proves too difficult, use something like Fire Whip or Arcana Teachings.  Anyway, while Bolas's ability is on the stack, play Evacuation.  Then say, "you don't mess with a dragon planeswalker!"  If you don't get it, Nicol Bolas will essential strip your opponent's hand after all of his or her creatures are returned via Evacuation.  Mean... very mean.
Honorable Passage - Tidal Visionary
Using Tidal Visionary, Honorable Passage becomes a white burn spell that could get rather hefty depending on what you target.  You see, use Tidal Visionary to change the source to red.  When Honorable Passage resolves, if will see that the source is red and deal damage back to the source's controller.  Submitted by YWN.
Unstable Mutation - Chisei Heart of Oceans or Power Conduit
Unstable Mutation is a great card except for the -1/-1 counters.  Still, giving one of your creatures +3/+3 for one blue mana is prime.  The combo here is combining Unstable Mutation with Chisei, Heart of Oceans or Power Conduit.  Use their ability to remove a counter to keep the Unstable Mutation working all game long.  Power Conduit is the better of the two since you can put a +1/+1 counter on the creature in place of a -1/-1 counter, making it even stronger.  Of course, don't forget the new ruling stating that -1/-1 and +1/+1 counter cancel each other out... Partially submitted by YWN.
Consecrate Land - Mishra's Groundbreaker or Spike Tiller
If you are a fan of my old Darksteel Citadel - Living Terrain combo, this combo, provided by YWN, is for you.  Consecrate Land makes one of your lands Indestructible.  However, you can't enchant it with any other Auras and thus Living Terrain won't work.  Why not make the land a creature by other means such as Mishra's Groundbreaker or Spike Tiller.  Mind you, there are many, many cards that can animate your land -- or you could just enchant an already manland land (like Mishra's Factory or even better - Faerie Conclave).
Mindless Automaton - Doubling Season
Hey, it's another combo submitted by YWN only this time I have a deck link for it.  Mindless Automaton was a cool card back in the days of the Tempest Block.  It's still a cool card, but not as powerful as it was in the shadow of other great card drawing artifacts.  Doubling Season helps to boost the Automaton Construct a little by doubling the +1/+1 counters you put on him when you discard a card.  You can then use those two counter to draw a card, and then discard a card, and repeat.  If there wasn't a 1 mana cost in the activation of the Automaton's ability, you could sift through your entire deck with ease.
Sacred Mesa - Wrath of God or Desolation Giant or Damnation...
A few years ago, it was Mobilization and Wrath of God make for a nice combo.  About 8 years ago it was Sacred Mesa and Wrath of God.  This year, it's Sacred Mesa and Wrath of God (or Desolation Giant or Damnation)...

Oh wait, Damnation isn't out yet.  Never mind on that one.

The trick is to clear the board and then generate lots of token creatures to sway the board in your favor.  [CounterMesa 2006]

Essence Sliver - Plague Sliver
Plague Djinn, I mean Sliver, is meant to work alone.  In a sliver Tribal deck, Plague Sliver could kill you faster than it can kill your opponent.  However, if you include a play set of Essence Sliver, Plague Sliver will play nice with other slivers again.  That is, with one copy of each, the damage from the Plague Sliver will be negated.  With two copies of Essence Sliver in play, you now gain as much life as the slivers would have death.  Thanks for the combo, Apeiron.

Enduring Renewal - Grapeshot - Wild Cantor
Wizard's said themselves they were worried about Timeshifting Enduring Renewal for the same reason Enduring Renewal was dangerous back in the day: infinite combos.  This time around those pieces are different: Grapeshot and Wild Cantor.  For those who didn't know, the old pieces were Goblin Bombardment and 0cc artifacts (like Phyrexian Walker).

How it works: With Enduring Ideal in play, Wild Cantor in play and Grapeshot in hand, Sacrifice Wild Cantor to add a red or green mana to your mana pool.  Enduring Renewal will return Wild Cantor to your hand.  Use the mana you generator from the Cantor previously to cast it again.  Repeat this infinite times.  Then cast Grapeshot to infinite damage. [Enduring Plans]

Pandemonium - Norin the Wary - Primal Forcemage
Norin the Wary is a wary, worthless card.  While he works okay with Pandemonium doing two damage a turn it's still not enough.  That's why you should add Primal Forcemage to the mix...  Whenever Norin comes back into play, it gets +3/+3 making him a 5/4.  Thus doing five damage every turn -- that's making something out of practically nothing -- Norin that is.  [Norin-demonium]
Mystic Snake - Momentary Blink
I never really pictured a snake using it's tiny mind to psionic-ally counter a spell...  but this is Magic: the Gathering.  At least they haven't given us any killer bunnies, squirrels or clams...

With Momentary Blink, you can use an already in play Mystic Snake to counter a spell coming at you!  Isochron Scepter anyone?  [Snake Blink 2006]

Auratog - Rancor or Fool's Demise or...
This is nothing new, but since Auratog was Timeshifted, I felt it appropriate to include it on the page.  There are a host of Auras that go back to your hand when put into a graveyard.  Auratog sacrifices enchantments(auras) to get +2/+2 until end of turn.  With a cheap recurring Aura, like Rancor, you could potentially cast it 5+ times and then cast it a sixth to make your Auratog a 13/12 trampler!  Note: I included Fool's Demise just to show you there are a cycle of returning enchantments in Time Spiral.
Claws of Gix - Reins of Power
This is an old combo that I personally love.  It works like this.  Cast Reins of Power and switch creatures with an opponent until end of turn.  Then, with Claws of Gix, pay one for each creature, sacrifice it and gain a life for each.  While this combo has been ousted by Reins of Power - Spawning Pit (as with Spawning Pit you don't have to pay anything to sacrifice), it's still fun as proven by the deck link to the left.
Voidmage Prodigy - Conspiracy - Endrek Sahr
Geez.  Another Conspiracy Combo... [sigh].

At least this one is fun.  Set Conspiracy to Wizards.  Endrek Sahr will thus not die if you have seven or more Thrulls, because they aren't Thrulls anymore... they are Wizards. With Voidmage Prodigy, you can counter as many spells as you have Thrulls er... I mean Wizard tokens and blue mana.

Pandemonium - Mishra, Artificer Prodigy - Phyrexian Soulgorger (or other big artifact creature)
With Pandemonium and Mishra, Artificer Prodigy, in play, play Phyrexian Soulgorger.  It's a cheap 3cc creature with a big 8/8 body.  Mishra will search out for another copy of the Soulgorger.  Then Pandemonium will deal 16 damage total to a target of your choice. Other big artifact creatures work instead of the Soulgorger, but they are not as efficient.
Dodecapod - Scandalmonger
Dodecapod was always doomed to be a sideboard card.  Getting a 5/5 for free if your opponent makes you discard is amazing, except it only works against discard decks.  Enter Scandalmonger.  This scandalous pig-like monster will trick your opponent into making you discard the Dodecapod.  Basically, your opponent is paying two to cast a creature for you.  Not bad.
Merfolk Assassin - War Barge
For those of us that have been playing since The Dark there will be a sense of pleasant reminiscing on this duo. Or maybe an unpleasant one.  Either way, both of these cards are Timeshifted and both work well together.  Use the War Barge to give an opponent's creature islandwalk and then tap the Assassin to kill it.  Good times.
Ovinomancer - Azusa, Lost but Seeking
Ovinomancer is an unusual card.  Blue isn't supposed to be able to kill creatures.  However, I can see blue turning a creature into a sheep... which is exactly what Ovinomancer does except with a major drawback of returning three lands to your hand.   With Azusa, Lost but Seeking, you can balance the drawback of Ovinomancer by playing an additional two lands during each of your turns.  It's still clunky, but now it's more feasible than just using the wizard by himself.
Dragonstorm - Rite of Flame / Seething Song
While this isn't REALLY a combo, it's some combo-tastic synergy limited to any Dragon Deck - or any deck that uses a few dragons.  While the initial cost of Dragonstorm can be tough to achieve, you have lots of red mana producers that help.  Cards like Rite of Flame, Seething Song and even Coal Stoker will all help you achieve the mana you need.  If all played in the same time, the storm of Dragonstorm will allow you to play a lot more than ONE dragon.  That's the fun of this combo-synergy... lots of dragons... all at once. Now you get to choose your Dragons.  Take your pick -- there are now quite a few of them.
Jasmine Boreal & Jeska, Warrior Adept in a mud pit...
With these three cards... oh wait.  What is this?  This isn't a combo?  Who submitted this one?

...

...

Fire Whip - Barbed Shocker or Somnophore or Goblin Lackey or...
There are only thirteen creature cards that have an effect upon dealing damage to a player that isn't combat damage.  Those cards are: Abyssal Specter, Barbed Shocker , Entropic Specter, Goblin Lackey, Mana Skimmer , Nafs Asp, Odylic Wraith, Order of Yawgmoth, Pit Scorpion, Sabertooth Cobra, Shocker, Soltari Visionary and Somnophore.  Fire Whip gives you the ability to get their 'damage to a player' effect once every round. Note: If you sacrifice the Fire Whip to deal another damage, that damage comes from the Aura and not the creature.  The Barbed Shocker - Fire Whip combo was submitted by YWN.
Jolrael, Empress of Beasts - Flame Wave or Earthquake or Flamebreak or...
Jolrael is a great land animator, if you team her up with Squee and Squee.  I mean, who wants to discard two cards for a land animation effect?  I'd rather do it with style.  Anyway, along with the previously mentioned cards, why not just animate your opponent's lands and burn them out of existence?  Mind you, any of the spells shown to the right will kill Jolrael too, but that's what Aura's are for.  Protecting her doesn't really matter, though.  Once your opponent is out all of his or her lands, the game should be yours within a few turns if not immediately.

Should you go the burn your opponent's land route, try adding Seething Song, as Deepshadow recommends, to get out the combo faster.

Of course, there's always Earth Surge...

Ooh, breaking news!  Francisco Mart recommends Pernicious Deed with Jolrael. I kind of like this one best.  Just set X to 0.

Vhati il-Dal - Timmy
Vhati il-Dal would still be dead after a diabolical edict from back in the day had it not been for Time Spiral.  Timeshifted back into existence, he likes to play with Timmy.  With Timmy like creatures (such as Prodigal Sorcerer), tap Vhati and make a creature's toughness one.  Then tap Timmy to kill it.  Pestilence works too.
Sorrow's Path!!! - Stuffy Doll
WOW!  A potential combo with Sorrow's Path?!  This can't be right.  It isn't the best of combos, but it will give you a reason to include Sorrow's Path in one deck at least once in your lifetime.  Adding a card that forces an opponent to block helps this combo as at least two creatures need to be blocking.  When you attack, send in Stuffy Doll and another creature.  When your opponent blocks the other creature with their bigger creature, switch the two blockers.  Now your opponent's bigger creature will block Stuffy Doll and that damage will go right back to your opponent (assuming this is a one on one game).  Submitted by Mad Mat.

Stormbind - Life from the Loam
Which is better?  Life from the Loam or Land Tax?  I'm beginning to think Life from the Loam is.  Stormbind likes it too!  Replenish the lands in your hand during each of your turns and then use Stormbind to throw some snowflakes at your opponent's for two damage each!  Submitted by TickleMyPickle.

Of course, you could always just use Land Tax...

Conspiracy - Scion of the Ur-Dragon or Amrou Scout
Conspiracy works with about 5000 different creatures and creature types in Magic: the Gathering.  Everything from Elvish Poacher to Thrulls.  However, two cards of recent that I would like to feature include Scion of the Ur-Dragon and Amrou Scout.   With the Dragon, set Conspiracy to Dragons and now you can turn Scion into any creature (in your deck).  Phage lately?

Then there's Amrou Scout.  Conspiracy works with any Rebel that has the 'rebel' mechanic, but Amrou Scout is nice and new.  Stack your deck with every 0cc to 3cc efficient creature drop and watch the Scout pull them all out so long as you set Conspiracy to Rebel.  Fun, fun.

Akroma, Angel of Wrath - Concerted Effort
Akroma has flying, first strike, protection, trample and vigilance.  That's not all she has, but those are what you will be giving each of your other creatures with Concerted Effort in play.  I was thinking of adding this combo to my Thallid deck...

Arena - Vigean Hydropon
Arena: No longer just a promo card.  Vigean Hydropon: No longer cursed to being an enabler for Graft.  Together, you can make use of a 5/5 3cc creature to kill one of your opponent's creatures.  Mind you, they get to choose who combats the Hydropon, but I'm sure you'll be smart and only use Arena while there exists no creatures that can kill Hydropon on your opponent's side of the board.  Submitted by Raine.

Tormod's Crypt - Living End
Living End is another one of those fun, symmetrical cards that affects all players equally.  Why not sway things in your favor?  With the Timeshifted Tormod's Crypt, before Living End resolves, you can remove your opponent's graveyard from the game so that they get nothing back from the grave while you still do. Submitted by Kyle Hawk.
Did you know...?

To the right and left of this text is something called the MDV Deck Link.  You will only find these link buttons on the combo pages.  When you click on a MDV Deck Link it will take you to a deck related to the combo where you found it.

If the button is to the left of the combo text, this means there is a deck already linked.  If the link is to the right, there is a deck found or that is going to be posted.  Or it is a combo I am currently looking for a deck using it. Mind you, not all decks links are going to center around that particular combo, although most do.

Remember, I strongly encourage you to not copy any deck on MDV, but to use it as a reference or inspiration for your own.  Enjoy the combo pages! ~John Streetz~

Your Combo Here!
You could have your combo featured in this spot right here (not literally, but on a future combo page).  Email the webmaster with any combos you'd like to submit.  Try to make sure your combo works and that there isn't already that combo on any other MDV combo page.  You can always Search Magic Deck Vortex with the new search tool to make sure before submitting it.

I greatly appreciate your efforts to make these combo pages better.  Every once in a while I have a page chock-full of your submitted combos... although I will admit about 75% of all submitted combos are duplicates.
